Wild is still fun in its own way, but it is very wild and the decks in wild are full of crazy interactions.
Classic was fun for a while, but it is static and therefore lost its appeal to me by now.
I would love to see a format that uses old cards, but not all of them at once and with some rotation every 3 month in between expansions, so there is something new there after a month or a bit more.
And with the risk of this going off topic, I like to add that this is why I ain't too fond of mercenaries, because it takes development away from the core game or original game, if you like that title for it more.
Auto-ban the most used cards in Wild for certain amount of time - that's a format that stimulates deck building and has a constantly changing meta rewarding the players with big card collection.
Interested to see what Mercs is like, but think it's a pity that changes, updates and improvements to constructed are being delayed or shelved due to it. Mercs is essentially a different game. What about the one we've already paid for?
They did that recently with a Brawl and it was only good for a few games, because after that it was just C'Thun+Jades everywhere.
If they do that then the selection of sets will have to be very well curated, whereas their approach to wild right now is "let it be". This will only be good if they can afford the time to do it properly.

Did Blizzard announced it that they are taking away development from original hearthstone to make/expand mercenaries mode?

3 sets are just not enough for a diverse meta, I enjoyed that brawl but there was little room for building decks, there were too few cards. Standard is always 5-to-7 sets.

No, but it is logic to me at least, that those working on mercenaries could be working on adding more content to the core game instead.

Its very likely that they hired new people to do the mercenaries stuff, if they wanted to introduce new content in the game (which they already do of course) there is zero obstacles for them to do so.

I don't want to speculate on if they hired or not. The point stands that the people working on mercenaries could be working on the core game and game modes, if Blizzard had chosen it.

The point doesn't stand at all. They have means to hire as much workforce as they want, if something is not being done or developed its because they choose so not because they are not able. If they wanted to work more on the core game and game modes they would, instead they are working on mercenaries because clearly they see a lot more potential($$$) in that mode than in creating MORE new content for core game and game modes.

Sorry, but are you saying that they could not work on the core instead?
But you are right about the $$. Blizzard looks at what is most profitable and I agree, that mercenaries are most likely that. Making content for cards people already own or are not likely to buy (again) is not profitable.
Wild is a format that allows you to still play with the cards you own, that is no longer part of standard. The problem with wild, in my opinion, is that it contains too many cards by now and crazy interactions, which makes it less fun than it was 3-4 years ago. I feel that Blizzard could allocate some resources to make a better and rotation format, so we could use our old cards in a fun way.
I think this is a mode thats desperately needed. Especially with collections that can now total to over the 2000 mark. But unfortunately as has been stated in some of the previous messages alot of these cards whilst still being good cards are no longer good enough for the Wild format. Obviously you can still play these cards/decks but unless you don't mind losing alot you're not going to have a fun time.
Pick 1 of the Core/Classic sets then 3/4/5 sets avaialble and just change it up each month. This way people feel they get more value out of keeping your entire collection intact and lets cards that have been powercrept out of wild mode shine again (like OG C'Thun from the recent tavern brawl).

So almost like a “standard” mode of sorts

Yes, but not with the newest expansions., but a block of older ones instead.
The quests would ruin that mode also.
I want 2vs2
They could not do that, if the expansions selected weren't ones with quests.
Once per 3 months is too long and will become stale quickly.
6 legal expansions, rotate monthly, separate ladder. It is my deckbuilder's dream
Note that Hearthstone 23 expansions (including adventures and legacy) and this means that we'll never run out of combinations

So basically arena but with your collection :)

They should do custom blocks by combining the core set with 2-3 different older expansions.
