I stopped playing HS after Dr Boom was introduced. Quite some time ago i believe. So i started up the game yesterday and was confronted with choosing a free deck :S Didn't choose any yet because i want the best value and need to decide which deck im going to invest in.
I've googled the new meta and a lot has changed since then. I'm a bit confused and need to read a lot to keep up. Could some of you maybe advise?
Before i played a lot of control warrior and miracle rogue. I can see they don't really do well in this meta. I've read about Garrot Rogue. Is she viable for this meta? I also want to create one quest deck. Which archtype (Mage, Warlock or Shaman) should i invest in? I will also choose the free deck for this arch type. Thanks in advance!!
This is not a good time to return to hs, trust me. Unless you want to delete your acc and forget about this piece of crap game. The state of hearthstone is pure shit rn. If you like playing warlock like nothing else, come join the dark side, but be sure to spend some gold/money and be prepared to get frustrated af every time you happen to face warlocks
Hehe, yes i don't mind. Need some distraction from Overwatch. I think ill join the dark side and on the side play Garrot Rogue for the fun. Maybe Control warrior in Wild. Still have a lot of cards to dust so getting cards is no problem.

Garrote rogue is perfectly viable right now. People have been playing various versions. One with weapons, one with gadgetzan auctioneer. Both work.
The quest deck that is strongest right now is warlock, hands down. There are some really broken wild decks right now that include it, if you like that, but even in standard it's very strong. Handlock with quest is probably the most solid choice at the moment, even after the nerfs to Flesh Giant, it can still work.
You get EXP for doing anything in the game now, the scrolls represent your EXP gain. This goes towards your progress on the rewards track, which has a bunch of special rewards, as well as regular gold.
Hearthstone is in the weird position of having a meta that looks somewhat healthy on paper, but no one seems to be having fun.
The meta is actually pretty diverse. There are many different viable archetypes representing a variety of play styles. The problem is that everything is more extreme than usual, which leads to a lot of polarized match-ups. In general, it feels like games are decided before they even begin.
Before Stormwind dropped, Dean Ayala stated that Team 5 had been trying to move Hearthstone in the direction of shorter, deadlier games in an effort to be friendlier to casual and mobile users. Well, this is what that philosophy gets them -- anger and dismay from a lot of the core players who have been supporting the game for the past seven years.
Enjoy your mobile player base, Mr. Ayala. I don't expect you'll be keeping the older fans much longer if you keep this up.

Gotta love these I am returning to hearthstone posts after 5 years and am interested in playing garrot rogue.......does anyone think these are real?
Don't understand why i have a new account here on Hearthpwn. Just logged in with my Blizzard account so i expected my old account, but there are people who want to play HS again after several years like me. I remember people were a lot more friendlier back then on this forum.

Thanks a lot for the explanation!
Thanks. If she's viable I'm certainly gonna try that one out. Garrot seems fun against the Quest decks.
