Okay, okay. Intense title, I understand. Allow me to explain.
I mean this on a somewhat trivial level, as I'm sure the people who write "HEARTHSTONE IS DEADEWIRFNBERGIOB" after every expansion release would disagree with me saying it is now gone forever. When I logged in today, to no surprise necessarily, the whole client was different. The part that got me the most was how it now says Hearthstone instead of Play. Tavern Brawl and Solo Adventures are also gone from the main screen, and all of this really got me thinking.
I've been playing this game for much longer than I had ever really intended to, and new expansions and updates have this ability to sort of morph together as in one day you're looking forward to the Rise of Shadows reveal, to the next it is rotating to Wild. I remember when Awaken the Makers was revealed during the first wave of Un'Goro reveals. I remember thinking how crazy it was that they were switching up the Legendary formula for the first time ever. Since then, they have introduced Hero Cards, Legendary Weapons/Spells, Questlines, the list could go on. There have been so many tiny tweaks and changes to the makeup of Hearthstone here and there, but possibly due to the reason mentioned above, today's changes felt somewhat final. As if there is no turning back. Turning back to what? I'm not necessarily sure. These are just my thoughts.
If you want old HS play this mode from time to time. I do it myself.
Y but they should update it too. I had a lot of fun with Classic but after a few month it got boring bc there are not many cards out. I would love to see them Release Naxx or even GvG again even more because i still have nearly all relevant cards from the old Expantions.
I know what you mean. I will continue to play hs of course but i like remembering the times where everything was fresh after an expansion. New card types and such. I still like the reveal season but since it has been a long time, we have seen pretty much everything.
And yeah...since i dont really play other game modes except wild its rather sad that the focus goes more and more in other directions . Im not interested in other game modes tbh.
Yea it felt the same. Somehow it Feels like blizzard is cramming 3 games into 1 and possibly more in the future. I don't mean that's necessarily bad but yea, HS as we once knew it is Gone. Now is more obvious than ever that every new thing is more about making more money, bringing more players into the game and making old players spent more if they want to play all modes.
That's why they put all the new modes into HS to make you see them , try them , and spent money on them... they could be separate games but i doubt they would be successful.
Anyway i stopped paying for this game a long time ago and I never will again... so i don't care how many modes they force on the old Hs format as long as I can play them a bit for free and have fun its ok..
I stopped buying their products since the Tavern Pass was introduced. I won't be paying for their products any time soon unless major positive changes are made to the game overall. Between the bugs, the utter lack of playtesting, and the P2W aspect of the game...its a shit show now.
I considerably reduced the money I spend on this game. I just buy the 50 bucks bundle for expansions. I still love the game but it's too expensive and it's slowly becoming becoming a different game.
I just need to redirect my addiction to other games. Diablo 2 resurrected and Dying Light 2 will help. But once Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 are out and if they are as good (or better) than skyrim and Fallout 4...I'll leave HS. It's gradual process but I'll get there.
I will also reduce my spending on this game, I was planning to buy all Mercenaries pre orders, but the price is quite high I will only buy the Diablo one.
I am happy to get something new to spenden all the gold on. As a F2P Player in mid legend i even started throwing in the gold for the battleground pass, as we are given so much ressources.
I always have the Feeling people complaining about cost just want every golden card or legendary. I just buy packs until i have all blue rarity cards, build decks based on the cards i got in these packs and at some point craft selected legendarys. Refund saving for nerf cards does the rest. Currently i have 4 - 5 competetive decks for legend so all the variety i need. Yes i cannot just play every deck there is but enough decks i enjoy.
I think standard and through association wild is at a cross roads right now. At the next rotation blizz can either
a. Do the mass rebalance that there has been rumblings of and tone down card effects from that point forward.
b. Keep to the status quo and just keep increasing power levels the way they are until all games last 5 minutes including roping.
Personally after seeing mercenaries, the amount of BGs skins released and how much they cost and what could be percieved as a lack of care for the base game, I can only imagine they're moving HS into a phase transitioning away from its roots and into pure mobile territory, if not just running it into the ground while making maximum profits. I wouldn't be suprised if in the next 24 months either mercenaries or BGs becomes the main 'e sport' depending on which is more successful.
There is no doubt that Blizz is not the more fan focused company it once was anymore (maybe for the better with recent revelations), and anyone who thinks as a business they care about your feelings over making as much cash as possible is a fool. I have no ill feeling towards them as it is their product to do with as they see fit and they probably have a mountain of cold hard data to back up any decisions they make as a business. Plus in the real world there are much more important things to worry about than how balanced HS.
Am I sad HS is not the game I've enjoyed so much over the past 4 years? A little. Will I lose any sleep over it? Much like what happened with WoW, not a second.

What do you think?
There is Classic Mode at least.

Time for one more classic mode match with some Cutting Crew - I just died in your arms tonight playing
It's dead and gone.

Blizzard: Don't worry about Wild. Here, buy Mercenaries instead. This is very nice. Pre order for only $49.99
