Visuals are horribly bad, like extremely hideous and lazy, it is easily the worst looking mode, HOWEVER it seems to have some actual complexity and RPG elements so I will actually give it a chance when it comes out, unlike BG which I didn't touch once after seeing the gameplay.
Won't pay a cent tho, just for the lazy visuals alone, they can shove their Diablo's and Lich King's up Kotick's Anus.
It looks like a game from the '90s which cost 130€.
Do you guys have money?
It's free; it costs 0.
Optional bundles that give you nothing special that you can't get for free by playing. It's just a small boost to save a little time while supporting the company if you so desire.
I don't understand this "free idea". It is not free. It is only theoretically free but if they released a 130€ pre-purchase it means that you need a lot of money if you want to be competitive.
Are the free-to-play games on the mobile free? Most of the time no. They are theoretically free, then if you want indeed to play it, it is most expensive than a triple-A game that you can purchase.
So it is not free. It is a pay-to win-game very costly.

Or at least, like now, it is what it seems to me.
It does not necessarily mean that you must pay to be competitive: if this mode is like many, many of the better f2p games, the stuff you can purchase essentially saves you time. You can either pay nothing, play a lot and slowly accumulate stuff, or you can pay for this stuff and get it right away. In that respect, it's a lot like HS itself: you can either pay to get all the cards you want, or you can play a lot and buy/ craft the cards with gold/ dust.
Given that Mercenaries appears to be primarily a PvE experience, what that means is that it will likely take the average f2p player longer to beat certain bosses/ complete certain tasks than someone who's got better characters and equipment. But if you're having fun, who cares? Now, if there winds up being a "wall" that f2p players can't get past (either because Blizzard did so deliberately or because of poor playtesting), Blizzard will have to either fix that problem or watch an awful lot of people quit the mode because they were mislead. Games that have those sleazy walls have a very high rate of people quitting.
As for the PvP part, since Blizzard is using something akin to the MMR system to ensure that you're not matched against someone with vastly better characters and equipment, being f2p is unlikely to make PvP frustrating. Sure, if there's something like the Arena Leaderboard, you're not going to see many f2p players there, but who cares?
Obviously, neither of us knows for sure what the mode will really end up being. My point is that there simply is not enough evidence to be able to say that Mercenaries will be p2w.
Saying your opinion in hearthpwn can result to you getting banned if it wasn't aligned with the goodness of hearthstone.

PvP is not supposed to be the main focus of Mercenaries, so it seems you have a number of misconceptions about the game.
You can play the main (PvE) part of Mercenaries at your own pace and never have to worry about how your mercs measure up to anyone else's. If you don't want to play a game that is primarily PvE, that's fine, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to blame the monetization.
By the way, the optional Mercs pre-order costs exactly the same as an (optional) expansion pre-order of regular Hearthstone, so I don't see any reason to act surprised by the price point -- which, again, is purely optional. If you think the price is too high and never order HS bundles, I'm sure you can play Mercs for about the same amount of money you would normally choose to spend on HS, and receive about the same level of enjoyment.

Here is why we care. Gacha games are cynical money extractors that prey on human weakness. This game is heavily marketed towards children who will not understand how they are being manipulated. So Blizzard is behaving just the same way they did when they supported chinese tyranny, when the allowed and covered up the abuse of women and when they intentionally manipulate RNG to break their games in the hope of tricking money out of their player base.

Mercenaries monetization is no more nor less gacha than Hearthstone has always been. The rarities are the same. The drops rates are the same. The pity timer is the same. Even the price point is exactly the same.
Acting like this is some mind-blowing new level of evil for Blizzard is a bit much, don't you think?

Current hearthstone is a pretty mindblowing level of evil, so no.
This looks like Hearthstone's version of Raid Shadow Legends ... ... these days that aren't.
You DO NOT HAVE to play it.
I am aware of that. It's not just about me there are many people out there that fall prey to these style of games because of their addictive nature. For some people it might seem like an easy thing to say no to spending money needlessly but that's not the same for everyone. Standing on the outside looking in i think everyone would like to say that they'd never fall prey to an addictive tendency or habit. I also understand the game mode is still the F2P model and i congratulate everyone who is able to do that because i haven't been able to not spend money on a game that's free and I'm not proud of that fact in hindsight but i enjoy being competitive and spending money expedites that process.

I'm with you in your assessment and all it does is add to my confusion as to why people are so up in arms about this game.
Traditional hearthstone is a CCG which practices monetization through expansion pack pre-release sales, character skins, tavern passes, etc. Did anyone in their right mind actually think Mercenaries - a game produced by the exact same publicly traded company - was going to be a standalone AAA experience sold in its entirety for $50-60? There was never a shot in hell this game was going to be anything but a "F2P" micro-transaction fiesta...it just wasn't.
Saying your opinion in hearthpwn can result to you getting banned if it wasn't aligned with the goodness of hearthstone.

Any proof of the last one? Not gonna talk about the other two, we live in 2021 and we know what happened.
So far I'm skeptical about this game mode, would love to know things are getting easier for the f2p person here... or at least not much harder. I am annoyed to find myself paying gold for mercs while saving gold for the hypothetical mini-set about to come, and no longer be able to use my gold for duel runs and stuff to get packs.
But let's just take a look. So far we have'nt seen the price of going f2p on this one. Perhaps it is actually affordable and it turns out to be that endangered animal, the Blizzard non-dick move success.
But let's just take a look. So far we have'nt seen the price of going f2p on this one. Perhaps it is actually affordable and it turns out to be that endangered animal, the Blizzard non-dick move success.
I don't understand what you mean by the "price of going f2p." Free is free. You can play the game without paying. It's more fun if you do pay, just like Hearthstone, but it's still playable.
Mercenaries packs can be bought with gold, 100 per pack, just like Hearthstone. Both games share the same Rewards Track -- all XP you earn in both games goes to that common pool, and gold you earn on the track can be spent in either game. Yes, this does split your resources to an extent. But if you are choosing to split your time between the two games, I don't know what else you expect. If they had separate currencies, you'd still only be able to spend so much time in each game earning that game's currency, so you would get less of both anyway.
If you think this is a dick move, don't play. Simple as that.
If I were a free player, I would choose one or the other. Even as a paying player, I'm probably not going to play both, just as I don't play Battlegrounds or Arena, and I seldom play Duels. Who has time to dedicate to every single game mode?
People are just mad for the case of being mad. It is a new game. Not really a new game mode. And then its also PvE focused so if you dont play PvP you can ignore this P2W aspect IF IT EVEN EXISTS! It will get faster updates and more like BG. Even with all those preoders (that are 3 different packs even a small option) is even less expensive than the normal expansion time of HS. I think it will be a very good addition to the game. It will have its own player base like BG. I for one looking forward to it and I am still hyped. And I would rather play HS version of raid than raid with its "stamina" function. That alone makes it better.

i usually consider any price that does'nt involve real life cash "f2p", but still costing something.
