I played hearthstone non stop since Journey to Un'Goro up until the new quest reward system where I completely quit the game. I didn't touch Hearthstone or this site since then. Recently I've been looking to get back into the game, but I'll need someone to help me whether to continue in Wild or go Standard (depending on my collection).
Two questions: 1. Is the new rewards system better than old or worse? 2. If possible can someone add me through discord (T0mb#3646) so they can check my collection, get me back into hearthstone with a general idea of the meta and good cards and tell me what to disenchant/craft?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I also have the free deck reward. What class do I take?
The reward system is better than it used to be. Meta is in flux with nerfs hitting yesterday so things are opening up for new experimentation already. Most classes have some form of viable deck at the moment, warrior seems to be struggling to find its footing early on. I’ve played since pre-naxx and have lived through several iterations of “unplayable metas” and this ain’t it.
Shaman is doing very well with a lot of options for decks, mage currently doing well, paladin has a lot of great decks now as well. Face Hunter remains good. Shadow priest is super fun actually and can melt faces but it’s still highly experimental. Druid has some INSANE new combos that haven’t been unearthed by most community players but damn they’ve got the nuts with some new cards including the new oracle of elune + celestial alignment. Warlocks been enjoying pretty consistently strong and inevitable wins with the new questline but it’s not without its own bad matches and flaws.
For reference, Last season I netted 15k gold and rewards track level 284 while currently working as a resident physician (if I don’t have a life it’s not because of HS, I assure you).
TLDR: Welcome back, there’s a huge variety of viable classes/decks available now. Pick whatever free deck looks most enjoyable based on decks and classes you’ve liked in the past. F*ck these children posting above, they’re just salty trolls.
It always amazes me when you see such toxic responses. Like, do players just want the game they play to die by instantly throwing anyone with interest/aspiration into the fire?
Ignore all the toxic morons that inhabit this game OP. If you’ve ever browsed any hearthstone forum before, hopefully you can recognize that this game, and every one for that matter, is inhabited by some sludge.
The meta is very fast right now, and basically consists of two types of decks. Aggro and combo. There are a lot of good resources on YouTube on what’s going on/what to play/etc. right now. You can get a good idea of what questlines are and what not. Currently, warlock is the big boy as far as the questline decks go, but you can beat it with fast hunter decks/faster combo decks such as miracle rogue.
As far as the reward track goes, it is far and away better than what you are used to. You can go in game and look at it by clicking the little scroll button towards the bottom left.
I used to play a lot of Hunter, Priest and Druid back in the day, but not the agressive versions. Don't get me wrong I can play some aggro decks but the decks I had most fun with are Highlander Priest, Control Priest, Highlander Hunter, Big Taunt Druid (I think all of these were viable during the Descent Of Dragons meta) and Zoo Warlock during Ashes of Outland.

Every opinion can come in handy. Often when I see such posts about any game I wonder where such a negative attitude even came from. The thing is, there are some games that you play for a year and unfortunately, after this period, you're starting to see its flaws. And sometimes they're unbearably huge. If anybody ever asked me whether to grab a hold on to HS I'd have said to try it, but once it starts to get annoying leave it immediately. There are many players that hate this game, yet they've become so addicted, that despite not even playing much they buy packs for the sake of it. Just not to stay behind if by some miracle this game transforms into some form of HS2.
In my opinion, HS skill level is irritatingly low, and games are way too often decided by pure luck. Matchups leave you with feelings of frustration and dissatisfaction. No matter you win or lose. Given the cost of the game and whatnot, I wouldn't have recommended this game to any1 who enjoys longer games that aren't decided by mechanics like discover.
To put it simply, after a year or so, you're starting to see that this game is just a slot machine with lovely animations.

I hate to break it to you, but "luck" is just an excuse used by people who are bad at a game. No one ever likes to hear it, but you need to understand what others think of your ability level when you say things like this.

Don't consider coming back now. The meta is terrible.
The reward system on the other hand is much, much better. I make 5K gold more each expansion.
Rewards are better but games are super easy and not satisfying, no matter you win or lose. You basically feel like on autopilot.
Dont come back
Don`t listen to the cry babies!
Yes, the meta is far from "good" at the moment, but there are enough of playable decks in Wild and Standard if your elo is not so high.
Also there is the Classic game mode now, where you can go back to the "good old HS" without all these crazy combos and mana cheating.
Give the game another chance! :)

Reward System is much better, game is stale and not what Hearthstone was in its golden days. Give it a shot and see how you feel.

If u like control decks, forget abt it
