There is a lot more competition now than when HS came out in 2013. Letting players transfer gold would instantly give them millions of invested players from Day 1. The average player prob has around 10k, so that is a 100 packs, would prob only give you a fraction of the first expension/possible nonfree coreset.
I mean... what would HS2 even look like? They're not going to revamp all the old cards, or just ignore everything they've created up until now just to release the next new set.
The main thing that they would change would be an increase in the scale of the numbers. The difference between 2 and 3 in hearthstone is often the difference between unplayable garbage and meta defining power. Sure, it kept hearthstone simpe, which is why it took over the world to begin with, but I'm pretty sure they'd use the power of the brand to avoid having to do that with a sequel, if it ever happened.
In case I'm not being clear I'm talkking about 1 mana 10 attack 30 health cards, as apposed to 1 mana 1 attack 3 health cards. Lots more room to work with.
I hear a lot of people say the engine is very limited, badly coded, and because of that it puts restictions on where HS could be going in the future.
People said that about World of Warcraft in like 2009. Yet here we are 12 years later and everything still humming right along.
Yeah, i have no idea. I just hear people bring it up all the time. I am not a coder/software developer. Personally i hope they stick with HS forever, i would not bother starting from scratch in a HS2. But... if i could transfer my Gold and Dust over, i might.
Let's say hypothetically, they did want to make HS2; they definitely wouldn't want to abandon all the cards they've created thus far, so those would be transferred over. And if they do that, they wouldn't want to abandon all the players that have been fans for years, so they would let them keep their collections as well.
And by that logic, I see no reason why they wouldn't let you keep your gold and dust reserves. It just seems fair.
The point above about total number values is interesting though. If they were to increase all the values by 3x, for example. All starting health is 90. A common 1 drop will be a 3/9 in stats... They could really flex on their creativity for minion values, suddenly.
It would definitely make it harder to calculate in the late game, when the board is full of much bigger numbers all over the place... and therein lies the complexity that HS was not built off of. So it might not fly.
By how greedy they've been with this game, i'd say they wouldn't let you transfer anything. At best, older players will get a badge or you'd have to pick from one of the lower tier, badly drawn hero portraits as your reward for being OG player.
When they introduced a new hero i.e. Demon Hunter, It became obvious that they want to stick with this version only... In my opinion, they should have released Hearthstone 2 with 9 New Heros.
Do you think they would let players transfer gold from HS?
OK
Lol no

Hearthstone isn't going to have a linear sequel. It's a card game.
I think they might. I wouldnt be terribly surprised if there was a cap though. 50k gold and 50k dust or something likr that.

Seems a bit of an odd game to make a sequel for.

Why release HS 2 when you can just update HS ? This isn't 1990 anymore

But it's definitely interesting to imagine.
I would hope they give more variety to classes. Maybe they all get a starting bonus?
Priest: +15 health
Druid: start with a copy of wild growth that costs (2)
Mage: draw +2 cards +2 hand size.
Warrior: + 15 armor
Hunter: starts with random animal companion (they may need to be all new choices)
Warlock: discover a demon. Reduce its cost by (3)
Shaman: get a random: elemental, nature spell, and totem in you hand.
Rogue: start with conceal, shadow step, and backstab in your hand.
Demon Hunter: start with 2 1/1 illidari with deathrattle, "the next demon you play costs (1) less"
Paladin: start match with a 1/1 silver hand recruit, a 1/4 weapon, and a random secret.

There won't be Hearthstone 2.
Since you clearly can predict the future, did we fix global warming?

Nope. You can't change the temperature of whole planet.

Hearthstone 2 would be an opportunity to change to a more consumer-friendly business model.
If they don't do that -- if they stick with randomized packs -- I don't care what they do with the gold. I will not be playing.
