Maybe this shoulda been a question for launch of Ashes of Outland, but one day I looked at the list of classes in Hearthstone and it just popped up - Why add Demon Hunter but not Monk / Death Knight?
Btw I really do not like how it became 10 classes with 9 slots per page. Anyone feel the same?

Developers' inability to balance is one thing; players choosing to abuse it is another.
I wouldn’t say demon Hunter stole their identity in that respect. Their demons tend to differ in their effects and purpose. Warlock demons tend to be more value oriented and have self damage synergies while Demon Hunter’s are more aggressive and are more synergistic with faster, attack oriented strategies.
There were already uncollectible Death Knight cards in the game, so it's not realy strange they didn't want DK, but I dunno about monk, but I am not realy sure why monk would fit more. But yeah, before DH, i had a deck for each class in both Wild and Standard, and now it's not possible to have a deck for each class for each mode, but I guess it's not a problem for majority, which either don't bother playing Classic, or doesn't need deck for each class in it, then 27 deck slots are fairly enough probably

That’s assuming that DH has an identity. It’s the only class with access to weapons, lifesteal, crazy draw, card discounts, aoe, silence, demon tags, fel tags, aggro, OTK, deathrattle, control, a class legendary with charge… and ignore taunt, a class legendary with charge and lifesteal, a class rare with windfury and the second hit has charge. I could go on and on, but the class identity for demon hunter is that it does all the things other classes do but better. I’ve hated demon hunter since launch, it’s such a poorly designed class, I would much prefer monk or death knight. Although I’m fairly certain that the same thing would happen with both of those classes.
Didn't they say they are consider dk, monk and a hearthstone special (not in wow) class, and that monk is 2nd or 3rd?
I think it was simply said they are considering monk, DK or a completely new class equally as the next new class. Not sure if they were leaning any particular direction yet... but honestly, let's be real, what would be the most exciting thing they could do? It has to be DK.
Play as the Lich King himself! With hero power (1) mana, destroy a minion and revive it on your side of the board.
Then a couple weeks after launch, they'll nerf him back down to normal.
If they added monk, who would be a famous, well known monk that would be exciting for fans, anyway? I'm afraid my Warcraft lore doesn't extend that far.

This is the opposite of what they said. They said that they are considering DK first, with an original class second, and monk a distant third.
Chen Stormstout would 100% be the Monk hero. He was the original from Warcraft 3 and is definitely the most well known.
DK would not be the Lich King, because he's not a Death Knight. The Death Knights were a group under his command, they're undead whose souls have been forced back into their bodies whereas Arthas is just a corrupted human. The most likely candidate is Mograine who's been the leader of the playable death knights since he was introduced.

I fear that if they make Death Knight, they will steal one more Warlock identity... DH already stole Demon identity from the Warlock.

I want Monk, the Brewmaster was my favorite neutral hero from Warcraft 3 and there is a lot of flavor to be had there.
The head dev dude saide recently that Monk and Death Knight are on the table next, leaning towards Monk.
I'm sure people's wallets lean towards Death Knight though, so I would expect that next.

Poh the Panda from Kungfu Panda would be a great hero
aesthetics probably, DHs are more uniquely warcraft that the others
