Spell Mage OP again, like it never happened before.
Sure is. I give up. This idea that aggro beats it is a HUGE lie. No, it doesn’t. They just remove everything and that completes the quest. Since their cards all cost zero mana and they always have exactly what they need every time…..it’s disgusting that this is allowed. Nerf it into oblivion. Make a new rule: NO cards can be reduced to zero cost. Ever. Start there and keep nerfing until people stop playing it and it disappears into tier 6 category where it belongs. The game is UNPLAYABLE right now. Mage is 100% God tier.
ehh, did you see the winrates the last couple of days?
ehh, did you see the winrates the last couple of days?
Lemme guess….the stats thrown up are from a tiny subset of players at high legend or whatever? Couldn’t care less. The decks existence is wrecking the game. Very much like the original caverns core quest rogue did. Win rates do NOT mean a damned thing when a deck is this abusive towards so many other decks. You should know better. No more zero cost anything. Problem solved. Let’s get back to actually playing the game and fighting for the board instead of these moron proof "draw your entire deck by turn 6 and win" crap.

Pretty sure he's talking about the blizzard's winrate, which should be based on the global playerbase and not the legend minority.
I am extremely suspicious about those statistics. I have not played a single game against a Rush Warrior since the expansion released nor have I seen anyone mention it whatsoever. Are these statistics proportionate to the amount of games played? Quest mages could have significantly more wins than rush warriors on record but be brought down by bad players in bronze etc who don’t know how to pilot the deck. Either that or there’s some sort of silent majority I’m not aware of
Is it just me or are there fewer people playing mage these days?
Maybe everyone overreacted a bit and now the meta is more stable? People are actually trying to tech against things that are strong and learning how to beat it and suddenly less people are playing it because it's not a free win anymore?
I've got no stats or anything and I'm a pretty average player, but can say I've had favourable (not massively favourable but pretty positive) matchups when playing Token Druid and Rat Hunter against Quest Mage.
In Token Druid, if I can play a decent Composting on 2-3 minions before the mage plays their first aoe, then I'll usually have the gas to win outright. It has enough mid-game value from Oracle of Elune to keep you going, I find.
With Rat Hunter, if I can play Stormwind Piper and Rodent Nest on curve then that will go a long way too. Just endless deathrattles and a decent Devouring Swarm usually keep enough pressure for me to win.
Don't get me wrong though, Quest Mage is not a fun deck to play against at all. My eyes glaze over on my opponent's turn because I know whatever it is they're doing it's not something I can change. It's amazing to me that Incanter's Flow has been untouched by the devs this whole time. I've given up on playing Quest Priest, which I was really excited for.

It|s exactly the different, the terrible winrate comes from all rated games no matter what bracket. The deck becomes better on higher ranks but still is weak to aggro decks.

No deck needs to be tier 1 to define a meta, sometimes all it needs to do to warp everything is to EXIST. Every tier 1 rn is aggro and theres no viable control, all of it due to Quest Mage simply existing. Losing to it is THAT bad of an experience.
The very moment the meta stops countering it due to the lower playrate it'll come crawling back into tier 1 instantly. Its Jade Golem Druid all over again.
I wouldn't call it unstoppable, as there surely are SOME decks catered to beat it. But I'll say this, Quest Mage and Quest Warlock are so unfun to play against that it's literally driven my away from the game until a balance patch comes. Just terrible. The good news is Team5 seems to already be aware, it's just a matter of wait time now. I have to agree with the popular opinion though, most of these quest were such a bad design decision. From what I can see, only Warrior, Paladin and Rogue have fun quest that are interactive and fun to play as and against. They need to consider the FUN FACTOR of a quest in the future before printing it. If a quest seems to ignore most of the aspects of interactive play, then it's probably not going to be a very fun addition to the game.
The problem is not the power level of Quest Mage. The problem is that Quest Mage is one of only two -- TWO-- archetypes that can beat the top deck, Handbuff Paladin, which has far more people playing it. So everyone looking to counter the most-populous deck plays Mage.
Doomhammer Shaman, Face Hunter, (non-quest) Zoolock and Quest Druid all beat Quest Mage pretty reliably. If you cannot win with those decks, the problem is you, not the game.

as you can see, quest mage doesn't even make it in the top 10. (that being said I don't really like the use of statistical evidence without context)

I've been playing a super cheap face hunter deck, haven't lost to quest mage yet.
Standard game is no fun anymore. Total ruined by Mage and Warlock.
Worst year, worst unbalanced pack
quest mage and quest warlock made me quit the game at least until theyre nerfed to the ground. Fucking retarded uninteractive design
The reason mage has a lower winrate btw is because it and qlock warped the meta around it to be so hard aggro
I had this giant druid deck I haven't played for a while and after trying it after expansion it wins very easy quest mage, hunter or warlock.
Deck is basically filled with giants, mana boost and 2 celestial alignments. Do the math..
I just got this quest from the reward track, whats the deck list ?
Quest mage is dead
