It’s garrote rogue that kills mage. Mage telegraphs when they are going to win, they usually don’t kill you the turn they play a 5 drop spell damage boost. When arcanist hits the board, your next turn is when you have to do the dance. Their ice block becomes meaningless and they don’t have enough health to withstand all the damage boosted bleeds. You kill them the turn before they kill you pretty consistently. The same can be said about quest warlocks, garrote rogue is going to be the rock to quest mage/lock scissors.
There needs to be a way to slow down completion of this quest. They complete it by turn 6 every single time. +1 spell damage the rest of the game would be powerful enough. or +3 spell damage to your first spell each turn.

They complete it turn 6, play arcanist turn 7 and don’t have enough mana left to kill you until turn 8. Garrote them on turn 7 and win.
I beat Quest mage quite easily with Handbuff Paladin which is, actually, the best Tier 1 deck right now. Blizz will certainly slow it down by nerfing Prismatic Jewel Kit.

The easiest way to nerf any quest is change how much the Reward Minion costs. There is no reason to completely gimp the card.
So sad Iksar does not get fired. He is destroying the game. They don’t playtest… which they shoulld do. It’s crazy how this dude is just nuking hearthstone. Like it’s so uninteractive it even funny
It's actually kind of funny. Quest Druid is the 2nd weakest of the cycle, but it has a unique place in how it absolutely bodies the Warlock, Mage, and Hunter quest decks. Mage, in particular, can't heal, so its just a matter of racing them down with attack and armor, while largely ignoring the board.
Also, FYI, most of the mage decks only run reactive frost spells that cannot effectively be played while your board is empty (Flurry, Cone of Cold, and Brain Freeze). This means that you can usually stall out their quest progression by not developing your board or attacking their face to trigger their Ice Barrier (they can't replay it). This can buy you a few turns to get some damage in before they get the extra spell damage. In a worst-case, they can summon a minion to target with Apexis Blast or Primordial Studies, but this absolutely screws their tempo.
This is what happens when Team 5 covers ALL WEAKNESSES of an archetype!
Spell Mage had trouble dealing with early board? Not anymore, First Flame and Fire Sale to the rescue!
Spell Mage had trouble closing out games? Quest and Ignite now gives it infinite dmg!
All of it getting pushed to the absolute top by Incanter's Flow and Refreshing Spring Water, these cards make it possible for Mage to complete TWO STEPS of the quest ON THE SAME TURN. Happened to me more than once.
It is extremely hard to pressure this deck with minion dmg, too much efficient removal on top of Ice Barrier, so the best approach is to kill it with spell dmg too, promoting the least minion focused meta of all time!
They need to make this deck weaker to aggro. Thats slow mage's classic counter, but since they covered all weaknesses the deck is pretty much immune to it now!
It is actually better NOT to play minions this expansion. Let that truth just sink in for a moment..
It is a cancer , yes. But I put in robes of protection in my paladin deck and cruised to legend. Its a matter of days before everybody starts doind it and then they are gone

Yep, Robes of Protection really makes difference...and surprise..it helps me to beat spell hunter and Quest Warlock!
It feels like they don't try what they design... How is it well designed a deck that cannon't fatigue, draw all of their cards by turn 8 and play most of them for 0 mana??? I've seen versions of this deck with Auctioneer and the Mana Cookie where they can play like 15 cards in 1 turn.
It's fine that they make decks that can draw a lot and discount mana but there is no skill in this, just play cards and throw spells in your opponent face...
No minions on board?! Nothing to counter Quest mage!?
My homebrew Zoolock begs to differ ...
Make short work of most decks ... but Shaman ones ... they just have too much healing coupled with board clears coupled with minion-cost reductions and tutored draw ... I personally think Shaman's the most irritating class to play against with all the decks I make ... but that's my zoo/midrange mentality.
The worst part about the Mage decks is the 4 mana, corrupt play 2 secrets ... there are so few in the meta that it is almost always an Ice Barrier ... I've had games where I've had to work through 4 Ice Barriers to win, sheesh. Talk about delaying in inevitable.
I'm also bummed we didn't get a decent murloc, hunter secret or totem this expansion.

They do playtest, and how is it Iksar's fault specifically and do you think this is ok to wish someone gets fired over this ? Would you like to get fired just because I don't like you ?

Braindead decks tend to attract the most people so I'm not surprised they once again managed to break mage after finally fixing it.
Quests were supposed to be game ending but hard to complete but mage somehow does it on turn 5 while controlling the board at the same time.
Not true at all. Check statistics, only aggro decks like shaman or hunter have a positive WR against quest mage.

Odd, my Shadow Priest fucking destroys this new quest mage every single time. It's almost like applying pressure on a Quest Mage makes them panic.

I'm starting to run into Pirate Warriors and Handbuff Paladins running 2x copies of Robe of Protection lol.
Team 5 is a joke

It's not even close to unstoppable. Plenty decks beat it consistently.
