i think quest control warrior will be solid. saw regular quest warrior from a lot of different streamers and the whole time i thought “the quest reward is so easy to get, and provides so much infinite value, why not just use a control shell to guarantee survive until then?” and came up with my own version if you wanna check it out
I really fancy trying Seek Guidance but I have a feeling that there aren't going to be enough good 7 and 8 drops. My prediction is that for the Priest control deck to work we'll have to wait for the mini-set or next expansion.
Handlock will be decent I think; though it'll be interesting to find out if Handlock or the Quest Warlock will be better.
Control Warrior is Legendary-worthy at present; I can see it handling the new meta with no new cards if it wished.
Control has been present in most of the past expansions and will continue to be. Priest was recently a very effective control deck until it was nerfed. Lots of potential for control in the next expansion.
The quest for all archtype of Warrior except Big, but in Standard CW ironically the best candidate . Because most of the pirate pool right now are good in CW
But I can see Questless Silas CW even better. With Carge Guard, the new 8 amor mana spell and the 8 mana demon taunt, CW reached crittical mass of armor gain. Now all your deck can gain armor or removal and the OTK
If you enjoy control decks you can give wild format a try, there are always plenty of options there and value oriented decks to experiment with
this. i really dont get why people stick to std. wild is so much more fun, lot of different decks, yeah ofc lot of aggro but with right deck it wont be big problem.
renolock is still very strong deck and every expansion it gets more tools. different wincons (tick, big demons, nzoth(s), jaraxxus, now fatigue with quest.
reno/control mage is another good and fun deck, odd warrior also.

This is wrong on SO many LvLs it's absurd:
First of all, while I only play wild and like the "idea" more than standard (I always found standard a lazy way to refuse to balance properly) and overall I have more fun playing wild, the notion that you have ANY way to play value decks in that sea of aggro/OTK/mill/infinite decks countering you is simply nonsensical
Even I admit that there are a lot of problems and std. is likely in a healthier spot but I'll leave it at that to avoid derailing.
Renolock gets further and further from being a control deck with every expantion since
1)the [REDACTEDTUS] version is a mill deck, not a control deck, stop comparing it to actual decks that have to actually play the game in order to win
2)the new quest can be considered a fusion of "almost an OTK" and "virtually infinite" due to its nature of being "unfatigueable" and the fact that it singlemindedly powerdraws to get its inevitabile wincon
3)even the big demons/N'zoth versions are WAY more akin to (super) heavy midrange (like cubelock) since it only aims to survive its first few turns and then the absurd manacheating both defends you AND pressures the opponent (also jaraxxus can fit here too)
The 1 right part of both these posts is odd Warrior and reno mage being control decks (though reno is often built as an OTK because fk fun)
I didnt play Hearthstone for about a year. I came back when they changed the Spells in Nature, Shadow, Fire etc. I realy didnt enjoy a Control Meta. Now Aggro Decks are finaly good again and i dont have to play 20 - 25 minute Control vs Control games anymore, because aggro was dead at the time.
HS is a fast pace game with its peak in 5 - 10 minute games. A heavy Control meta isnt good for the game. Nevertheless there still should be a litte Control playable to hold Aggro in Check, but a Control meta was the worst i ever played.

That is just your opinion. You cant say „control meta is not good for the game“ because you just dont like it. I love control matchups and hate aggro, so i would much rather enjoy a control meta.
And back to topic: there a enough control tools, so there is no reason to say otherwise. You just have to adapt to the new cards.

None of the pirates are really control cards. They're just not hard aggro cards. They're mostly good in tempo style midrange decks.
You can maybe build a control deck out of the pieces, but I wouldn't say it's strictly going to work particularly well.

Haha, I have no idea why you dragged me into this conversation, I literally did not say anything about renolock or other decks. However, from my perspective control archetype is defined as something that uses resources and board clears efficiently in order to stay alive and reach endgame, where it can outperform and outvalue its opponent. While Renolock concept has changed over the years, imo it can still be described as a control deck.
Nevertheless, if you are a wild player, there are many more control decks than these 3, mentioned above. Last time I wanted to play something control related, I built double N’zoth shaman with Hagatha, which worked surprisingly well.
I think Warlock is in the best spot, maybe even better than Priest this time around, to control the board and survive (will you need more healing than Nethrazim, Bread Baker and perhaps the Quillboar towards the end?), having faster wincons as well. The existence of Questlines should slow down the meta by itself (provided they are played by enough people) as spending your first round to play that card is a big deal for aggro decks. Here's hoping.
I too like control decks. Warlock is still perfectly good at control decks, especially with the new 8 cost taunt demon that generates 8 armor. I played a match earlier where I copied it 6 times (with raise deads) against a face huntard. He was not amused.
That being said... good lord did they HAVE to give mages a 2 cost infinitely scaling, automatically replicating to deck burn card? Unless you play a mage and counterspell it, the opp mage cannot be fatigued with one draw a turn... or 2 if they roll both. This is not acceptable that one cheap ass card is that powerful.

It seems Blizzard want to finally kill this archetype.
Priest, warrior, and warlock always have control options and still do. But yeah aggro and face are the place most times

What a stupid thread
Priest warrior & warlock
Just close this trash plz
Warlock Handlock looks very promising, at least Tier 2.
Control Priest will still be strong, which iteration will be stronger i don't know.
Spell mage to a certain extent can be considered as a control deck and i believe it will become a lot stronger with the new cards.
I'm still skeptical about control quest warrior, on paper it's lackin some good pirates and maybe card draw.
I don't know why you cry.

The quest is definitely not for Control Warrior. But Control Warrior looks good.
Honestly Ysera is such a fantastic control card as is.

What do you mean finally ? I see this thread on every expansion launch, yet I still see control decks in the game.
Hey everyone. Spice Bread Baker!
A neutral heal that works best if you have lots of cards in hand, just like control decks usually do.
Gosh darn it, Blizzard keeps killing the archetype!
