So guys, I am interested in trying LoR (Runeterra) card game, but I need some information because I'm not familiar with the company behind it:
a) What are the political stances of the creators? Which sides are they supporting if any in major conflicts across the globe? (Palestine/Israel, China/Hong Kong etc, especially curious about their stance on the Aegean Sea disputes cause I'm greek). Extra information about some of the political parties that the company top heads have voted for/support are also welcome.
b) Is the company environmentally friendly and against animal cruelty? I hope all materials used within the company are biodegradable and not animal tested, and that the game servers are powered by renewable sources.
c) I hope every race/colour/sex/gender/religion and belief is equally represented and paid, and that the company top heads are well distributed. Seeing how the shareholders that are members of the board in a company are usually too few to have representation of every group I can think of, they should be as diverse as possible, i.e. an atheist communist asian bisexual male that identifies as a female with visual impairment, a conservative Christian transgender vegan black woman etc.
d) Is every person within the company screened for criminal activity in their personal life? I wouldn't want to play the game just to find out 2 years in that a person of the staff is a wife beater or that the cleaning lady does drugs.
e) Despite it being a corporation, I wouldn't want the end goal of the product, the game, to be money and profit but the promotion of gaming as an art form and as a means to soothe the soul in these troubling, difficult times. I would want it to be 100% free with no microtransactions, no paid cosmetics and free expansions. Also guaranteed support for at least 50 years and live servers, in case I want to show my grandchildren what I used to play when I was their age. Now if the creators want to give back to the community and send me some pocketmoney through PayPal or credit card for playing the game it would be considered a plus.
Thanks in advance for providing me with the crucial information every sane gamer would need before enjoying their hobby. I know you guys are really up to date with all that so it won't be that troublesome.
EDIT: Stop sending me private messages about how the game works, the art, the world building, the sound and other irrelevant stuff. We are here for the activism, not to actually play the game.
I mean, I guess the implication is that it's silly to worry about all that, but I find it fairly rare to see a gamer that neither cares nor is uninformed on at least several of the above considerations.
Certainly all of that information is available to one extent or another. That's the beauty of the internet age.
Not really sure where one person's concerns are valid and another's aren't, but as long as the chuckles are there . . .

No, we are the ones who indicate via vote how we want the police to police.
If one is inclined to laugh at that premise based on certain recent events in America, rather than calling an obvious truth a lie, consider what those events indicate the populace is willing to accept as normal operation for law enforcement.

Oh yes...because blizzard's games have been so amazing the recent years...I mean people are robots and are 100% efficient even if they are under stress and harassed. Companies' working enviroment is completely irrelevant to their final product!Totally, for sure, certainly...yeap.
Ok, this is my last comment in this thread and i wash my hands from this incel toxicity.
I get it, we all have lives and responsibilities, i really get it. I am engineer myself and i use games and forums to vent of my stress from my really demanding work. So i completely understand someone who would either completely skip this nuanced and difficult issue or simply wait for the trial before taking a stance. They are both completely understandable behaviors’.
But bitching about "DoPaMinE DoSes" and trying to make the issue irrelevant "ShIT hApPeNs" ? You are either entitled little pricks who put their small rush before people's real pain and problems or misogynistic incels who think harassment is no big deal and use logical fallacies to support their stupid reasoning. Take your pick. There are comments attacking the victims for speaking out for f*ck sake...

You are to judge the final product though, not everything else. For the rest there's supposingly a justice system. You wouldn't be using 90% of your every day products if you acted this way. You wouldn't want to compare i.e. the working conditions in coffee bean farms or in shoe making factories to those of a California based gaming company. In this case, the system even seems to be doing its job. We are to comment on the product, I find it more logical to have a gamer outlash over Warcraft Reforged than let's say a bullying incident of an employee within the company.
It's worth mentioning Bloodmoth is 100% correct, although that doesn't really advance the discussion at all. It's never a defense to a particular crime or moral failing to say "lots of other people do it too", and lack of pursuing other injustices doesn't answer pursuit of a particular injustice.
Also, I woke up this morning to Jim Sterling's usual monday rant video, and I knew it would be on this subject. Have to hand it to ole' Jim, he frequently exaggerates, he never gives credit to innocent till proven guilty, and he only really gets up at arms if a woman or POC is involved . . . but he's nothing if not consistent. And you can't take away that from him.

Some people need to understand that many of us who are angry and/or shocked about this are not f..king internet justice warriors. We are here because we care a lot about Blizzard, that's all.
This is what I would love to do right now to some Blizzard's company members for allowing this shit to happen (doesn't matter if the accusations are true or not):
Personally I think the saddest part is that if the woman had just trusted the courts, she'd have retired extremely wealthy.
All you'd need is one witness to corroborate stuff like the nude picture supposedly passed around a party by employees including her direct superior. The fastest sexual harassment lawsuit on record follows quickly.
I would have funded that case out of my own pocket.

Nothing will change, a few people might get fired but thats all.
Game companies don't wanna get sued. If California is successful even if Activision settles out of court, it will discourage companies from covering up this sort of behaviour. Revealing a sexual predator works at your company will be bad publicity, covering it up or hiding it will now be potentially devastating.
Look how much Hearthstone has ALREADY changed. (A trans woman and a queer guy are basically two of the most important faces of the game at this point as far as the development team goes)
@ Bloodmoth: I understand and kind of appreciate your partly comedic posting, but I think I have to burst your bubble here. These things, maybe not in the way you describe them, are actually important to many people and the group who cares more about these, especially the environmental friendliness, is increasing. This is raising awareness, and that's generally a good thing. You and the people who upvoted your comment might not agree, but the reality is that players will leave Blizzard games as a consequence of this, and I would guess that this will especially affect their number of female players. So aside from the obvious moral implications of the entire incident and the incel reactions of potentially 12-year old fanboys of Blizzard in forums, this HAS negative consequences for the company in terms of reputation and revenue and less revenue often results in games becoming worse.
And I fully get your point to which I agree. You basically can't do anything anymore if you only rely on companies with perfect moral standards because they usually don't exist. But if we never talk about these kinds of allegations and start to change our decisions as customers, companies will simply continue to harass people because they are never punished (either by court or by decreasing revenues). It's the same with actions to take against climate change. "China/Russia/USA/[insert whatever country you like the least] cares less about climate, so why should we act and destroy our economic wealth?". Same message. Nobody starts, nothing will change. It's really as simple as that. And if players don't care about social topics, or are even more concerned about earlier card reveals than serious harassment allegations, guess what happens within gaming companies.
Ok, this is my last comment in this thread and i wash my hands from this incel toxicity.

I just want to thank you for these well-written words.

I didn't even know they were trans or queer and I would argue that it doesn't matter (or it shouldn't, at least). As far as I am aware, the HS team wasn't even much involved in these harassment allegations. But anyway, this is also often a strategy of companies. Very bad things happen and get public and then they change certain things for the better that have nothing to do with any of the allegations and won't change much. I have even seen companies hire women in higher positions after similar allegations dropped, just so they could pretend that they cared for women when in reality, it was just a matter of saving some money because they paid them less.
By the way, some of Blizzard employees signed a letter as an answer to Blizzard's shameful reaction to the lawsuit. You should check that one out.
As a father of a daughter and a husband of a wife, I cannot see myself playing a game built upon female harrasment and discrimination. It must be ok for you, young and addicted gamers, but when you grow up and real life hits you, and you start to have responsabilities and standards, it becames umbarable even to think about opening blizzard's launcher. Farewell.
You know, I work in transportation logistics, if the company I work for had some HR nightmare that caused delay in our service, my customers wouldn't be like, "aww, you better fix everything and I hope it's all okay after. Let's spread the word so it doesn't happen elsewhere"
They'd be fucking pissed that the service is delayed. They don't give a shit that MY company is fucked up from the inside out. They just want the product they expected/paid for/subscribe to... to be delivered.
Why are the upset gamers treated like they don't matter now? On the other post, one of the devs tweeted something like "if you're upset about patches being delayed instead of caring about this issue, then you're part of the problem"
Good god, I'M part of the problem because YOU fucked up by hiring morons who haven't known human decency since birth? And not removing them the moment this behaviour appeared?
Way to go. Let's just spread the blame around to make ourselves feel better, I guess.
YOU get some blame... and YOU get some blame.... annnnnnnd YOU get some blame! Hey. it's not all our fault anymore!
And I guess I probably need to clarify, because people are going to see my opinion and think I'm some incel, woman hater for caring about games more than this lawsuit... but I'm already doing my part by not harassing people at work. If I see an issue, I'll speak up about it.
I have known this for my whole life, and I don't need to be told by streamers or game developers on their platform. The people that really need to hear this aren't listening, and it's probably too late for them to change. Maybe some discipline will help? Alright, go get 'em justice system.
What more can I do? I'll fly down to California from Canada and protest with a sign outside Activision HQ? No, that's stupid. There are plenty of issues all around the world that need to be fixed, but I'm not going to spend my time and money going to go fix them myself. I just can't.
The issues in front of me, I will take appropriate action, but beyond that, what do people expect?
So now we circle back - I just want my games. Fix your company. This is not a problematic opinion!
