truth doesn't matter to these people. neither does moral clarity. they'll be promoting this game before the next expansion arrives. money and image are the only thing that matter to these people.
they just want us all to lose some of the excitement we'd otherwise have had so they can feel morally superior to you, me and everyone else. it's a PR stunt and unfortunately impacts people who are passionate about this game.
maybe it's blizzard's fault for giving these "influencers" so much power over their brand. i hope they reconsider things after this.
none of these moral authorities have shame or logical consistency. i hope people reading this in a week stop by their streams so they can see what i'm talking about when they're back promoting blizzard products.
I agree that blizzard should just do the reveals themselves from here on out. This is terrible what allegedly happened but this isn't the community's problem. If the big streamers and influences want to pretend they are making a difference by not revealing a digital card then go ahead, but some of us just want to escape from this crap so next time, just reveal them yourself. The big names have too much power, at least give the little guys more reveals. They have more incentive to actually follow through. And no, wanting new cards doesn't make you a terrible human being.
As to the allegations themselves, they run the complete gamut from harmless misunderstanding to black and white felony. But as usual, the more serious allegations, particularly the ones concerning pay differential based on sex, are very VERY easy to prove in court, so when I see the accusation thrown around with no legal action to follow, I am extremely skeptical.
As for the streamers who "took a stand". . . all of the ones who have made a career bolstering the Blizzard empire have zero credibility in my eyes for moral outrage. Compared to the punitive actions taken against players making offhand comments supporting Hong Kong and the laundry list of previous business and personal ethics violations at all levels of Blizzard and Activision, if THIS is what constitutes your line in the sand, your moral compass is so screwed up I doubt you can make it out your own front door.
I just got finish watching Trump's non-reveal, and it was the single most empty piece of rhetoric I've ever seen offered up as a statement of support for alleged victims. In the same breath, I heard how these accusations (mind you, not all the ones in the years before now, not all the horrid shit about China/HK, but THESE accusations in particular) were so graphic, he could not subject his audience to them, but that "the show must go on" and he's sure that one day . . .
men and women in games will be really equal.
I was literally shaking. So stunning and brave. What a vapid empty lack of . . . well, anything.
If the victims in name are victims in deed, I hope they get some form of compensation for their injuries. In the meantime, I'm not going to pretend to give internet streamers who owe their entire livelihood and notoriety to a corporate entity any credit for TODAY finally realizing they are a cog in the machine and then throwing a paper wrench in said machine, not to actually accomplish anything, but to show how aware and courageous they truly are.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.

Here my friends, we see the Bootlickus Bootlickus in their natural habitat. What people with this mentality fail to realise, is that if everybody was like them, we would still be working serfs on some feudal lords farm with 0 scientific progress (" I just want to work the farm man", "I just want to eat bread man", "i just want to see the lord's festivities man" etc). Thank god among sheeps in human clothing, there are true men and women who have to balls to fight for what they believe to be right.
Whether the accusations are true, is to be determined. But due to the publicity the issue has gotten, BOTH sides will do their best to prove their point and so the chances to get to the truth are much much higher.
More deets coming out tonight after Morhaime made a statement, indicating that stuff was absolutely going on under his tenure 5~ years ago and that multiple leads were involved in harassment or covering it up / enabling it.
So, again, more evidence that this is something that was deeply rooted in Blizzard culture and not a recent occurrence.
Honestly I feel nothing but disgust towards Blizzard. They have been doing this for a long time. There have been multiple cases, multiple articles on the internet and still... everyone is acting so surprised. I know that probably not every person working at Blizzard is responsible, but the company as a whole is just disgusting to me now. I don't know what will happen, but at this stage I wish the court would just shut that piece of shit down. Obviously, that's not gonna happen, because Blizzard has too much money and influence, but still. As small help as it is, I at least am done with Blizzard. After the custom class competition here ends, I will never touch anything Blizzard related. Fuck Blizzard.
"BOTH sides will do their best to prove their point and so the chances to get to the truth are much much higher."
You're an intelligent one. I never knew that using the court of public opinion in an uneducated assault without facts had this effect.
Because of dopes like you a lot of us lost a lot of needed escape in getting excited for new cards. But of course I'm "Bootlickus Bootlickus" as you like to call me and the others who view Hearthstone as an escape from social justice crap.
I genuinely hope that a lot of the posters here are just naive young boys who have had a lack of parenting and real world social interaction. If not then a lot of people here are going to be the culprits in these kinds of stories in the coming years.

Both sides will do that . . . unless either side has a lawyer with a brain in his head, at which point all public discussion of what actually happened will immediately cease because that's how you best help your case in court.
What follows is a pure void of speculation where a lot of folks with no clue as to the truth value of any of the accusations try to use skepticism as a cudgel against those who don't immediately believe the "victims" (quotes to draw attention to the fact that we have no clue which side is being victimized at this point).
In any case, I have no problem with the "don't shit where you eat" mentality of streamers. I just want them to be consistent about it. If you didn't "shit" as a result of Hong Kong, the layoffs, the myriad of previous sexual discrimination claims, etc., then why are you "shitting" now? Strained metaphor, I know.

Yeah, it seems like you are the ones that to have made your minds that the victims are lying before even the trial starts. I am sure California sued an Multi Billion company for shit and shits and giggles ... Come on guys...There is something going on for sure, what it is, and how bad it is, remains to be determined.
Morerover, publicity gives courage to more victims/witnesses to come forth and prevents blizzard from simply buying the silence of the victims. If there is nothing there, the accusers will make fool of themselves. I know that blizz's boots are tasty but don't worry. They have billions, they will be ok.

When did i claim that posting something in this forum will change anything other than pissing fanboys and bootlickers off? You made a nice strawman there mate!
Anyway, after seeing the replies, my goal was obviously achieved :P
Actually I agree, the fact that a state government is lending its name to the lawsuit does suggest some legitimacy to the allegations. But given all the other reasons one might want to attach his or her name to a sex discrim lawsuit, it's not dispositive. One has only to look to our current Vice President and the farce of a trial she initiated against Back Page knowing full well the charges would not hold up in court to realize how far some folks will go to use the court system as their own plaything.
I didn't read the other post you quoted carefully, but there's nothing whatsoever in my post you can point to suggesting either that I've made up my mind or that I'm supporting Blizzard in this matter. Sorry to disappoint. The reason I felt the victim comment was necessary is I've watched what happens when false accusations are made and the ruinous consequences they bring to the accused. I have no reason to conclude that these allegations are true or false at the moment, and because I don't know any o the parties personally, I don't even have a subjective guess one way or the other informed by some personal knowledge of honesty or integrity (or lack thereof). I have no idea why you'd suggest otherwise.

Sorry, i was mostly referring to the dude above, i should have made my reply structure better. My bad, I agree with you on false accussation completely when is about people. I agree that many times the life of the accussed is ruined regardless of the outcome of the trial. But when it comes to organisation vs people, the issue becomes more complicated and nuanced and as i said on my previous comments, publicity on these cases helps.
Yeah, in the past I went HAM on another forum post about accusations made on social media ONLY and said I thought it was shitty to call people out like that without giving them any real chance of a defense, but this case is 100% different.
If accusers actually go the court route and allow the accused to present evidence in defense, then by all means, publicize the shit out of it. That's all stuff that we should know. Even if the trial is ultimately unsuccessful, we will actually get to see what is rumor and what is fact. The burden of proof sometimes prevents accusers from winning at trial, but engaged observers should give her/them credit for the effort to bring an alleged predator (s) to light.
The corporation vs. individual thing is murky, but I suppose I come down on your side if put to the question. Corporations deserve far less in the way of privacy rights. But ultimately the more serious accusations will have been committed or not by individuals within the company, and having their names out and about is a little more grey.

I think it's time for Blizzard to just reveal the cards themselves. This is getting silly.
I hope the right people are punished. I care. But at the same time I’m just here to play the game. I’ve been playing 6-7 years.
