Currently I'm at the highest rank I've ever been at and almost made gold, alas, I keep falling back.
This last game I played really bothered me and I think I made a few mistakes which cost me the game, but don't know what specifically they are. The only way I can keep getting better is knowing what I did wrong.
Could you please take a quick minute and watch this replay and let me know your thoughts on misplays or a big mistake I made.
Turn 2 I know it's mana efficient to do what you did, but it's more tempo to play Demon Companion and trade, especially since you were very likely to play Quick Shot on turn 3 anyway.
Turn 5 is mana efficient and more tempo to just play Rhino and trade into recruit. The extra two damage later on the Rhino doesn't matter, as you found out. Especially when you are foregoing the 6 damage now (by playing it and trading to the recruit)
Hearthstone at the moment is all about tempo and mana efficiency. If you think about those two things with every play you will improve significantly.
I typed that before I watched the rest of the video.
Turn 7 is a misplay. A 9/7 is more tempo than a 3/4.
Turn 8 is a misplay. You should have taken the 8 with your weapon. Hopefully get freezing. Then you play the 9/7 and clear the 8/8. If freezing you can just go face and the 4/2 will take care of itself, if not freezing then you can clear the 4/2. Leaving both on board is a disaster.
Sometimes when I attack with the 1 dmg Crescent I don't know which order the minions will attack in. I'd think left to right and then it starts in the middle, etc.
Also knowing when to attack with that weapon is tough. But I have a lot of games under my belt and I'm learning after a lot of years how to handle mistakes.

That weapon will actually trigger attacks from your minions in the order that you played them. So if you pay attention to this, you might be able to make more efficient use of it.

You bet. I think this sentence I typed has the most value:
Hearthstone at the moment is all about tempo and mana efficiency. If you think about those two things with every play you will improve significantly.
It's one thing to pick apart individual games and point out mistakes, but it's another to understand why these are mistakes, and the above sentence sums it up nicely as a takeaway to think about.
Add me too and if we're online at the same time I can watch a few and give real time advice.
Just to add on to what others have said, tempo and mana efficiency are related but not always the same, as you saw on turn 2. Playing Demon Companion would've floated a mana, which is not trivial, but would've given you an extra body on board at the cost of 1 health on your Initiate. Mana efficiency is more important when you have impactful plays lined up for future turns, which you didn't at that point (1 drop+hero power on turn 3 doesn't count). You can also talk yourself into believing that Demon Companion is worth about 1.5 mana since they're all overstatted compared to typical 1 drops.
And personally I only use QS as removal as a last resort. One for one trades don't favor you since their deck is so much more powerful. Ideally QS is something you use to get across the finish line when they're hiding behind a bunch of divine shield taunts.

big mistake on turn 6 - you could trade Rhino into 4\6 taunt and keep alive your two warsong wranglers. This moment you lost game, i think.
Thank you pancake90 really appreciate you taking that time.
So giddy that I had 9/7 rhinos.
I would argue Turn 2 and Turn 5 a misplay too.

Thank you RolandofGilead, all great points.

RolandGilead#1934 - but I'm only on Americas
Thanks Pherosizm, that's a huge help. Maybe the rhino can do more dmg now.
argue with this man, HS is all about tempo, especially when you play facehunter. Turn two and turn 5 - indeed you should play like he says to you.
