It is weird that we have to melee hit something with a bow, and the new bow gave him an idea, basically 2 charges of poisonous on your HP when the bow is equipped. I don't see how it would break balance in any way, as his current suggestion would cost 4 additional mana (4 to equip the weapon and 2x2 HP) to get full benefit, but it is certainly an intersting idea and I quite like it.
How would it look like on other hunter weapons ? Eaglehorn Bow gives 2 charges of Phase Stalker effect ?

True. OP is talking about something targeted mostly at control and the first comment is someone complaining about the current state of face hunter... Face hunter wants both his hero power and weapons aimed at face, it has nothing to do with that suggestion. Having a hero power that affects the board instead of just damaging the enemy hero would help trying to make control hunter a thing again. It's a cool idea, Blizzard should probably explore it more.

Alternatively, just change the hunter weapons that don't have immunity while attacking to something other than ranged weapon, like Headhunter's Hatchet or some survival hunter's spears.

2) Not having to use 2 cards and a HP for killing 1 minion is an advantage now? Just because hunter has had a history of low cost combined removal doesn't suddenly make a 4,5,6 cost removal any particular card advantage. Other classes still have more efficient hard removal as they should.
3) They wouldn't HAVE TO, but they did make a weapon for every class in K&C. Duels has a wand for mage, but not a bad idea to add some relic/artifact like cards for the none weapon classes in a future set.
Personally I think it's a good idea that fits well with the flavour of huner from WoW. It would be interesting to think about how it could be done, and while we're at it, how we could incorporate pets and aspects into the mix as well?
I think replacing the hero power would be the way to go (similar to the DH spell Metamorphosis in that it lasts a couple of charges). It gives them some distinct flavour over other weapon users, potentiallty keeps the "ranged nature of the attack and lets you "bank" the mana from one turn to use the effect on the next. Replacing the hero power also opens up some more design space in terms of power level. They could definitely keep polearms as standard hunter weapons too.
One idea would be something like "Multi Shot" - Hero Power becomes deal 2 damage to a minion and adjacent minions (2 charges). For pets something like "Command pet" could be a hero power giving a minion (beast only?) rush (or something similar).
There are also options about how you would implement it in game - a spell, a battlecry or a "begining of game" effect. Beginning of game effects could attempt to mimic the aspects...

To point 3:
Actually that would be awesome and add so much more flavor and incentive to use the hero power. Weapons would be more like artifacts that lose durability when you use them. The examples given are quite cool tbh. A scepter for a cleave effect on jainas hero power? Hell yeah! Also the bows would make so much more sense.
Or just add some new hero power choices like Duels has, like maybe a new Hunter hero power:”Your hero is immune while attacking with ranged weapons”, or just give weapons bow/axe/hammer/wand/etc. typings like minions and spells both have, or even simpler typings like melee/ranged/magical. /my$0.02.
I agree that attacking an enemy with a “ranged” weapon could use some flavor buffing, by simply changing how the animations looks, no mechanics change required.
Venomous Bow gave me this idea. It should allow your hero power to target minions and give it poisonous.
