Anyone else have an issue w this? Let's say you are doing mage for a ladder run and get to diamond or whatever. For the whole ranked run I will only play that deck. Even if I get a quest to play another class will just remove it and stick w that original deck for the ranked run.
Leads to a consistent understanding of the deck you are playing but makes it so you mostly play same class/deck whole month.
Anyone switch back and forth during the run and not care? I don't play casual right now/trying to get all the portraits so that isn't an option (also casual is same meta decks anyway except people concede with bad draws)
I play priest as long as i dont have a quest. Dor quests i switch decks except im just a few games away from a ranked floor. But for clarity im also not going for legend. I play not that much, so maybe i reach diamond 10 or 5
I am usually checking how many high-tier or fun decks I can build and switch after 5-10 games if I have more than one deck. Or, like this month, I try to farm achievements and somehow end up in D5, where I chill for the rest of the month. My deck choice then obviously depends on the achievements I want to farm.
In general, it's good to have several options to adapt to what you are facing and to learn the strengths and weaknesses of decks by playing them yourself.
I don't have a set behaviour, it depends on several things such as the meta, what cards are available and what decks I like etc. I've played one deck and only one deck for a couple of weeks before, because I've found it a very fun deck. Other times I switch between decks every few games, because there are multiple decks I like.
It's not very often I use a deck 'to climb'. I generally find that a good number of decks can get you up the ladder so I typically just roll whatever I like actually playing.
It's impossible to master a deck immediately, even if you built it yourself, because a deck never exists in a vacuum. But if you know the meta, it's a lot easier to get there faster.
That being said, it's also not necessary to truly master a deck to get to a decent rank or legend in general.
I swap decks all the time durring legend pushes, I have everything except priest (hate the class and playstyle of it). I think if you lose like 3 in a row switch it up and keep going. I dunno works for me :p
I build all my decks so I don't need to play them to understand them.
Lol! So you make a deck and you instantley mastered it. What kind of cheat is that.
I said understand, not master. I'm not native english speaker but I'm pretty sure these words have different meanings. You can't master a deck until you've refined it, and you should know I don't fully refine a lot of decks since I specified that I generally don't play more than 5 consecutive games with the same deck.
I make a deck and I instantly know what my combos are, what my win condition is, what my best curve is, what my options are... BECAUSE I built the deck. Of course, I still need to learn and master the matchups, which I obviously cannot do while deck building.
When you netdeck an unknown deck you need a couple games to understand what is happening and what you should do with your cards.
Yes. My feeling is that there are several "mini metas" at a given time or rank which are not caught on Hsreplay. A good meta call can be more important than knowing the deck very well.
The alternative is fine tuning the deck for what you are facing, which can also work.
I play games with multiple decks each month, especially for the climb to d5 where I have the multiplier, win streak bonuses etc....For the grind from d5 to legend I usually play 80-85% of my games with the same deck, whichever I feel like works best that particular month. Afterwards I go back to deck roulette, switching every 3-5 games

I've found this to be a lot more true now than it was in the olden days. Once upon a time, sticking to a single deck for mastery was the most common advice because pocket metas were impossible to predict. Nowadays, gaining a single rank -- even if it's not a rank floor -- often leads to a sudden shift in the min-meta, with an easily visible dividing line.
There's still something to be said for playing a single deck well, but it's really not worth anyone's time to keep banging their Face Hunter against a wall of Priests.

I tend to only play 1 deck for ladder as well. Part of that may be that I generally que one day a month to d5-d3 and then stop playing ranked, but I like the idea of being consistent and getting good with one particular archetype. It's probably better to play maybe 2 or 3 decks to account for any pocket metas you might run into, but I don't care enough to bother with that.

What is macho about sharing my way of playing this game because he asked ? Are you an insecure netdecker or something ? I don't feel superior to you
How about you share something relevant to the thread next time

No, your just threatened by other peoples intelligence. That why you resorted to name calling.
He didnt say master, he said understand. Another person adding their own words to what someone says. This is a trend with HS players im noticing.

edit : thank you Parisbishop
Just be good, why all that?

He has my respect for sure, for not net decking his way through the ladder! ;-) homebrewing is cool!
Each milestone rank I normally switch decks. Once I get to D5 I have maybe 2 decks that I focus on
