Assume that I power level to Legend immediately upon reset, which propels me into high legend, therefore assuming 11 star bonus.
Assume then I squander that high legend rank by playing non-competitive decks across the month, falling into the 10 star bonus range.
After the next reset, does it determine my bonus star value based on my best rank (high legend, 11 star bonus), or my final ranks (legend, 10 star bonus)?
Are you 100% sure about this? I've been finishing at a pretty decent legend rank in wild in the last two months and getting an 11x bonus. This month I made legend again with a positive W/R and my current rank is also pretty good (around 250 which I guess translates to an end-of-month rank in the top500 if I were to stop playing). If I now start playing meme decks all the way to dumpster legend, will I still get to keep my 11x bonus based on my early season rank?

I also got the 11 star once for being around 1500 in Europe. Later that month I bombed my rank down with at least 2000 after I got tired of all the paladin mirror matches :)
I never really tried to rank up most of the time and split my time between Standard and Wild. I usually started the month with 6 or 7 bonus stars in each reaching Gold or Platinum.
Last month, I decided to make a push for Legend in Wild. I made it to Diamond 2 for the first time and started this month at 9 stars. Since I have not be playing Standard very much, I have dropped down to 4 stars.
When the new system came out, they said that due to hidden MMR that your bonus stars would not change a lot even if you did not play for a year. That does not seem to be the case.

I am curious about the bonus star ranking.

Many thanks
The highest rank you reached during the season.
I once got 10 stars by reaching only diamond 2. Since then, when I've failed to reach legend, even at diamond 1 3 stars, I always get 9 stars.
By the way, I seem to follow a pattern of 1 season legend, one season just short of it. Maybe a sign that the MMR is working?
Thank you for the responses

I think its based on MMR. I mean the 10 or 11 stars. The different ranks give consistent stars up until diamond i think.
But don't quote me on that.
