Bonus stars thread #5163 ikr, but is there a certain way to preserve bonus stars over time?
Like I hit legend this and previous month and now I want to take a break for a month or a couple - would I have my 10 stars when I'm back in August? And will I keep them if I play brawls/single/bg occasionally or I have to completely stay away from logging in this whole time? Any particular preservation recipe?
I still have my 9 star multiplier in Standard ever since they introduced this system, and I never played a single Standard game since then. But I played in Wild, Classic, Casual, Arena, BSs and duels. Saving my 9x multi for the right moment to come back into the ranked and finally hit that legend, lol. (Instead it was the Classic mode which did the thing). Anyway, I think you are safe 100%.
Ever since they introduced this system I had x9 multiplier in wild and I always reached diamond, but last month I reached platinum 4 and now its x8 so don't know for sure...
Edit: acctualy the month before I also finished somewhere in platinum but still had x9. Don't know if it means something so I would also like to know for sure how it works.
I haven't tried taking a complete break from ranked, but two months in a row I only hit Diamond 10 instead of the usual Diamond 5, and that resulted in the loss of one star (from 9 to 8). All I had to do was reach Diamond 5 that month, and I was back to 9 stars. But I don't know how is works if you don't play at all. I don't think playing other game modes will contribute to keeping your ranked stars, though. They all have separate MMR.
I have an account on which I reached legend in wild around 8 months ago and after that I quit playing that mode. Since then most months I play 0 games of ranked wild and the most I ever played was 4 or 5 in a single season. To this day I still have a 10x multiplier...

Alright, thanks :)

Others keep saying, that both these cases saved you stars because you still played a couple of games:
And If you stay completely out of ranked games - all stars will be reset :( No idea what to believe in.
