Honestly I think returning Watch Posts to how they were before the nerf would solve so many problems we have at the moment with Paladin and its total dominance over every other class.
Watch posts were fine when released and did not need a nerf, and the fact that there are literally 0 competitive decks that involve watch posts now just shows what a ridiculous nerf it was, I can't even remember the last game I played in standard when someone had a watch post in their deck.
What are peoples thoughts? I just don't see how anyone would ever use them again in their current state?
Not all cards are nerfed exclusively for balance reasons.
Far Watch Post has an extremely anti-fun design and it's better for the game that it's not as strong as it used to be. Some players feel the same way about the rest of them as well.
The only bad watchtower is the one that adds cost to drawn cards. The bad thing about that is the cost to play it since it comes out so early. Opponents early game is screwed if they don't take care of it fast. It feels like a losing battle if you don't have something to kill it because you're always behind.
The other two are nothing. I'd rather play Ogremancer than the watchtower that makes 2/2's. The other one cost is high enough that you should have something out there to deal with it already.
I thought the meta was much more enjoyable before the watchpost nerfs myself. But, what I like and what Blizz thinks is fun are two very different things.
Hearthstone as a game just doesn’t support disruption well, it never has.
I did like the watch posts but Far Watch Post was always going to cause a lot of disdain if it was meta.
Curving out early is very important in Hearthstone and, like the Paladin Yogg secret, if anything fucks with your early game there’s a chance you float mana (or just miss a turn completely) and just lose. It just feels really bad to play against especially for aggro decks (which dominate the game).
It's about they were OP, they were unfun and frustating to play against. Also, if they buff them again, I'm sure paladin will find a way to introduce them in their deck and be more toxic KEKW

toxic?
kekw?
I think we might have hearthstone middle school bingo!
I think watch posts were interresting, and I think they were nerfed before people really learned to play against them. Given a few more weeks, maybe the package would be in every deck, maybe it wouldn't... we will never know, unfortunately.
Watch posts are one of the worst card designs I have ever seen. I don't know who came with a bright idea to make overstated "techs" against every deck interested in playing cards, but I would like to hear what the thought process was. At least Blizzard was fast enough to realize their mistake. Paladin will receive another nerf for sure, but I don't see how it is connected to watch posts. Paladin was the best deck in the meta with watch posts, and we had unhealthy amount of Mages as well.
Totally agreed. The watchpost haters are the same people that piss their pants about everything else constantly... the literal worst.
You're wrong, I think there are too many nerfs nowadays and I'm fine and was fine all these years basically with every card. Even if I really disliked some cards (pre-nerfed Shudderwock comes to mind) I never said it should be nerfed ASAP. Mor'shan Watch Post was the only card I ever saw and was like "Ok, that's not normal, I should play BGs more before this abomination receive its nerf". Maybe I would not be as negative to them if they were banned from the Arena from the start. Mor'shan Watch Post was so bad for the Arena, it won games by itself on turn 3 (or 2 with coin) if you don't have an answer, which you almost never had.

"Let's reduce the oppressiveness of the best deck by making everyone run two oppressive neutral cards that drain the fun out of the game"
You'd just be making the situation worse by adding fuel to the fire. It's not like paladin itself can't use them either.
No.
Plus it would only make paladin stronger as they would play both of em.
One of the best nerf so far. And they are still way more playable than caravans :p
Priest caravan is pretty good. And priest can make it stick.
I agree, I liked the meta with watch towers in it, but I don't think anyone else is going to.

Far Watch Post was the way to stop board-centered aggro decks like Token Druid

unfun design. most people felt this way, leave them as they are, they are still decent tech choices.
