Forgive me if someone else has posted, but has anyone else faced a mage that gets ALL the luck? Main topic is the discover rate of Astromancer Solarian when using Primordial Studies?
Just had a game where he had Astromancer naturally - but then got 2 more copies off Primordial. Then later, played Runed Orb and got another Primordial, which gave him ANOTHER Astromancer. So I had to eventually deal with 4 Primes.
Anyone else been noticing the Discover rate to be....that consistent?

Prenerf Astromancer this can be a issue but now? For 9 manas? Have multiples of them in the deck is risky, sure, sometimes he turn the tables in your favor and win a lost game but many in late game the chances for overdraw and die by fatigue is high.
there just arent a lot of mage spell damage minions right now so the chance of getting it is very high. discover always shows class cards at a much higher percentage than neutral too

No this is BS, go calculate your chances again. Solarian casts beneficial spells much more than bad spells, there is a reason she is an insta pick out of the discovery spell.

Neutral and class cards have the same discovery chance. This was changed 2 years ago.
Yes Primordial Studies is particularly consistent at the moment, but this is also the first expansion of the year, the card pool is going to get bigger over time. And the amount of spell damage cards has always been very restricted, compared to the amount of rush cards accessible to Athletic Studies for example. They can't just print 50 spell damage cards instantly, it would be difficult to balance, or they would have to print shit pack fillers.
I see a lot of people being concerned about these small RNG pools, but it's funny because this is exactly what people have been asking for years before the introduction of the core set and a more fleshed out standard card pool, people wanted more predictability and consistency for RNG cards, more restricted card pools, especially after the discover nerf, many discover cards were taking cards mostly from huge shitty pools of neutral cards and they felt useless and impossible to take advantage of, like A Light in the Darkness. Now RNG is stronger, so people want no more of it. And when Blizzard will stop printing RNG cards, people will wonder "where are the RNG cards the game is repetitive it's boring there's no counterplay and no learning curve, consistent OP aggro decks everywhere".
In my opinion, the studies cards are RNG done right. Relatively small card pool, strong effect, and easy to predict the outcome for both the player and the opponent.
I'm not saying this for you op, it's just a general sentiment I have when reading this forum.

I play spell damage mage for a long time, Solarian Prime for 7 manas is a monster but for 9 is not that great, sometimes you draw cards but don't have more mana to play it, sometimes you reduce the cost of spells in your deck, tranform them or get a secret irrelevant but nothing helping the board, when happen is lose, you can't play a 9 manas minion no taunt and don't affect the board in any way and this happens more often you believe.

There are literally 0 spells that are bad when played by Solarian, but whatever you are entitled to play the way you like at low levels. In my experience, Solarian is an insta pick at top 200 legend.

I just played against a warlock who killed himself with a solarian from 30 health, because he only played card draw and was already in fatigue
Do you really think your one-game anecdote at some random rank is proof of anything? Also, do you really think card draw is a bad thing?
As I said, if you want to play suboptimally, go ahead never pick Solarian or play her from FoP. I will happily farm mages that think like you :)
Idk what are you trying to achiev with those comments, it's obvious that both PetiteMouche and highllandder are right.
Card draw at 9, 10 mana when u literally about to fatigue is bad, what kinda of question is that? lol... If you enjoy killing yourself go ahead. Putting minions in your deck is also really bad. OFC there will be scenarios where you gonna win because of the prime but it's much more likely that it's going to do nothing or kill youself.

Dude I don't care, you said literally 0 spells that are bad and you're literally wrong, there's plenty of them and not just card draw, try casting Evocations and Grand Finales when your opponent has a board in lethal range or something. It's not just one game, when there is enough anecdotal evidence, it's just evidence, you're wrong, Solarian at 9 can fuck you up immensly and it's not rare, it's often the very last card I play in case of emmergency, and usually don't need it.
And don't even try to rank-bully me.
Do I really think that card draw is a bad thing, or do I think that card draw can be a good or bad thing depending on context, and ignoring context to make big useless claims is pointless ? Hmm I wonder. Why would any spell cast by Solarian by inherently bad anyway ? Like how is this a bad thing, do you want pack fillers in mage's card pool to make Solarian less predictable and powerful ? Just nerf it to 10 it's easier man.
I'm not the person who said never pick Solarian by the way. And I will never be the person who says always pick Solarian either, because context matters.
I really wanted to like Solarian but at 9 mana I would expect some solid effect, which I can rely on. More often than not it's 9 mana wasted in my experience. I stopped picking him from discoveries altogether and go for the neutral card draw Spell Dmg legendary minion. Or Mini Mage for the stealth effect against certain classes to keep it hidden throughout the game (Rogue, Demon Hunter can't target it). If I am playing spell damage deck, I go for Aegwynn.

Another really good option that people often sleep on is the Steward of Scrolls, but the ones you mentioned are very good too.

The chance to get Solarian is 40% out of 1 discovery.
For 2 discoveries, it is already 65%.
Lol nice balanced gameplay.
