I've faced that before. As a shaman you have tools to negate this opener. Is it powerful? Sure it is. Could you still win? Yes. I actually kept my Landslide in my mulligan, and discovered Novice Zapper T1. T2 he conceded. In the end, he nutted T1, but I prepared for that(Actually I figured T3 is when I would need it), and won the game because of that.

Finally someone solve the puzzle, bravo amigo!
but seriously, there's lots of bad players plyaing bad shaman decks pushing it's winrate waaaaaaaaaaay worse than it actually should be, i dont blame them it's not easy to optimize a deck alone it takes time, knowledge and effort but yea, shaman is not as bad as people want it to be. I'm pretty sure they are working hard on it already.
If Druid could do this turn 1 nearly every game and/or it was indeed an automatic loss at that point for nearly every class, it would be unbalanced. They can't though and the cards do exist to fight back against this kind of opener (whether or not those cards are popular isn't relevant, revolve for example).
I'm sure there are some strong tempo Elemental Shaman draws that are very hard to beat for some decks out there too.

"Working hard on it already" my ass... in VS latest Standard meta report, Shaman is literally the ONLY class that's not represented in tier lists.
Also this:
Demon Hunter looks like a dead class that players are still trying to make work, something we can’t say about Shaman. It might have to do with the fact that Demon Hunter has powerful cards and combos, but suffers from meta related issues, while Shaman doesn’t feel like it has very powerful cards to begin with.
So what are you basing your statement "not as bad as people want it to be"? When is the last time YOU played vs shaman?

Why all of the sudden every children now want to say "my ass"? That's disgusting... I dont give a damn about VS report, literally means nothing to me.
Please, someone send this to Blizzard. I don't think this is okay to have such a huge snowball opener on turn 1, it is impossible to answer...
That sucks! I had the EXACT same thing happen to me yesterday on turn 1. They have to get fairly lucky on the mulligan to be able to pull that off but even if they don't, a lot of times they can have a similar effect by turns 3-5; which aren't impossible to answer but in most situations you're still screwed. I'm stuck on Diamond 5 and I am surprised I don't see more Token Druids are it's a VERY cheap deck compared to other meta decks.

As someone who's played a lot of Token Druid the last couple of weeks, I haven't once had such a nutty opening hand. If an aggro deck gets such an opener, most of the time there's nothing the other player can do about it. I've always dreamt of Gibberling + 2x Lightning Bloom + Coin + Arbor Up and this comes quite close. But it happens so rarely it's not a problem. Token Druid usually isn't a super easy deck to play. There is always a spot where you have to heavily commit on the board and you need to time that precisely to not get wrecked by a board clear or burn damage from the opponent.
The main message is: You can't judge how balanced a deck is from its super-highroll. Unless it gets that highroll consistently somehow.
So what, he got a nut draw T1, something that almost never happens and it's not even that strong to begin with. Cast lightning storm on his board and he basically lost because he has no cards left to your full hand... It's not even a T1 deck lol, people really do complain about everything.
yeah, cast lightning storm with 2 mana, even you don't have it in your hand
Shaman has a lot of problems right now but dealing with aggro, especially minion based decks like aggro druid, is not one one them imo.
But can we expect 2 card combo answer, exactly on turn 3, from class with almost no card draw or generation? In theory, any class can deal with such board, but realistically it's way too early and it's almost impossible to answer that without extreme luck.
It's like complaining hunter always goes face, and top decks spells for lethal. Druids gonna mana cheat...
I will say it feels bad when you're on the receiving end of it though. And for me it wouldn't even feel good to win that way. Non interactive meta's are the worst for me.

This druid had a 5 cards combo opener on turn 1, why can't you expect a 2 cards combo answer on turn 3 ? If that is extreme luck, then what was the druid turn, extremely extreme lucky luck ?

Just control board turn 2 with your midrange shaman looooooooool, it's so easy.

You played shaman, outcome was decided even before turn 1 ;) opponent just saved you time.

Novice Zapper + Landslide will clear any aggro opener on turn 3, if Lightning Storm isn't enough.

im not the only one who assumed this post was going to be about ticktus before reading it right?

It's balanced because it's not Mage doing it, or Paladin.

Ceterum censeo classum magi esse delendam.
It's perfectly normal to have 9/17 on board turn 1.
yeah, cast lightning storm with 2 mana, even you don't have it in your hand
It is essentially combo, so you need to play some combo breaker, but Dirty Rat and Heckle Bot are not available sadly.
