So I thought I had noticed a trend a few years ago in Blizzards decision making. I contended that Blizzard was focused on extracting maximum dollars from their existing player base and was no longer focused on growing their games. I made the assertion that giving money to such a company was against gamers interest as by giving them money you are signing off on the direction they are going and can expect those trends to continue.
I know blizzard tried really hard to bring players back with Demon Hunter, but the execution was so hamfisted that all it did was alienate more players. I really like that they brought back classic as a f2p option.....between that and battlegrounds I can continue to play hearthstone for free to see how the situation evolves.
But in seeing these results, I wonder if blizzard might change course. The main reason I bring it up as I am really curious as to how they will try to monetize overwatch 2. I continue to play overwatch and was planning to play overwatch 2 unless it is filled with odious microtransactions that put important gameplay elements behind paywalls.
Anyway. I am interested to see what you guys think of these articles.
I agree. They have been focusing on milking the whales for a while now. Also when you are not happy with a product you vote with your wallet. It is something people have forgotten these days. Blizz has shown, in multiple games, that not only are they money grubbing they don't even produce stellar gameplay as before. For HS in particular I feel the game is way to expensive to keep up with properly. But even then I might be okay with dropping some money on it if not for the fact I am unhappy with the state of the gameplay. Until Blizzard shapes up, either by slashing prices or improving the game I will continue to deny them money. Simple as.
