Oh My Yogg! is a card whos randomness is bad for the competitive scene and shouldn't be an autoinclude in secret decks.
Since there's no way to remove the randomness without going against the flavor of the card (it has Yogg in the name), i think it's power level should be reduced so it's only included in meme decks
I think Oh My Yogg! should be changed to "Secret: when your opponent casts a spell, you cast a spell of the same cost as well"
So it would no longer counter the spell, but you would be the one casting the spell, so if the random spell drew cards or something, you would be the one drawing. It could in theory actually be better than the original if you got Ultimate Infestation or something. Plus it would still provide good trolden clips where someone tries to use an Aoe and your opponent gets Pride's Fury just to show that you shoulda prayed to yogg.
I think the counterspell would be fine, but I think it should give the player back the original spell that is countered. that way you still might end up wasting mana on a bad spell, but you wouldn't lose a ton of tempo from coin destroying your own minion instead of giving you a mana, for example. It would also not give the paladin a resource advantage but instead a tempo advantage by "wasted" mana. If the secret gets pulled out for free by the sword or act as a trigger for Northwatch draw, and something like a card draw spell gets countered, it is just way too impactful in giving paladin a resource advantage. Would also make it so it doesn't just completely shut out people from using win condition spells like c'thun spells or key board clears.
Many things should changed with paladin. Oh my yog is the first in the line tho it is ridiculous it ruins only counter you have and let paladin grasp the board control for the rest of the game and it is all for only 1 mana.
This spell indeed does a bit too much for 1 mana cost. It basically: destroys a card, wastes your mana, makes you play random spell (which might screw you even more) and forces you to do suboptimal plays, as you need to test for it each time Paladin replays a secret (leading to a loss of resources and tempo).
OMY is fine, the problem is the weapon. When a secret is played from hand, you can reason out what they've most likely played and the paladin needs to time his secrets properly. When it's pulled from weapon, you now have 4 secrets you need to play around. That situation is what's truly disruptive.
Oh My Yogg actually makes Paladin secrets interesting.
Is it too strong? Probably.
Is it too much RNG? Sometimes, yes. Especially at 0 mana destroying your own minion (courtesy of a useless 0 mana Warlock Core set spell).
Should it be nerfed? I don't think it should. It's not oppressive (without support), although it's close.
And regarding the competitive scene, I actually think this card made the games a lot more exciting. Yes, it's almost unfair how secrets force opponents to play really well (it's always been that way), and sometimes playing around them makes you lose your mind, but it's just too much fun watching people play competitive games while trying to navigate extremely difficult turns, and then have to deal with the small RNG bump of Oh My Yogg that can sometimes be not that small at all. It's madness ... At the Darkmoon Faire, haha.
It can also backfire. You still get a card effect of the same value. Sometimes you unexpectedly ramp, sometimes you get a board clear that's better than what you were trying to play, etc.
People are only running it now because of other secret synergy cards being added.
I can count on one hand the amount of times Oh My Yogg! has truly worked out in my favor. The only reason I kept it in my deck was for that turn two Deck of Lunacy and the closest I've ever gotten was turning another 2-mana spell INTO a Deck of Lunacy. I don't know why I even bother having it in my deck at this point.
It’s not like Pally can generate a bunch of copies of it. Plus I’m sure half the time the opponent still gets a beneficial spell out of it, even it it wasn’t the intended spell. Counter spell is a straight up nope.
It creates some fun moments. Playing with Druid vs Paladin I am completely losing as his Righteous Protector prevents my minion from trading on his big minion that threatens to kill me next turn and I have nothing in hand that can help me. I know Oh My Yogg is up, I play Guess the Weight as a hail mary hoping for something like Immolation Aura, I get almost the same outcome in Minefield which clears his 1/1 taunt DS and allows a clean trade and an easy win. Another game playing Rogue, I have lethal with burn spells from hand, I start with a Brain Freeze to proc Oh My Yogg and it casts Shadow Council to screw me over completely
I've stopped trying to play secret paladin because I hate this card so much, it seems like half the time it gives your opponent a better spell than the one they were going to play, this spell has wiped my own board many times.
I've kind of enjoyed playing against secret paladin. Sometimes it's frustrating but that's mainly when I don't really have the hand to deal with it. The secrets can be tested for and triggered and Yogg is fairly fun, it's actually gone in my favour a few times and if I know they have it up and I'm left with a spell I can't really use or whatever, I can just chuck it out and see what happens.
It just needs a change , it is waaaaay to oppressive to have it auto-cast with the weapon every time and ruin every possible game plan or removal that is spell based. It is utter bullshit and makes the meta unplayable because of the secret paladin garbage.... It's good they nerfed the weapon it was too strong but honestly it wasn't the real problem , the real problem is that this bs secret needs a rework

counterspell with huge random in paladin, cause reasons. anyone with WoW lore knowledge know if this kind of effect is normal for paladin?
I say cast a random spell for each mana of the countered spell.

What a perfect little card :D

So... RNG card is too RNG for RNGStone?

A smart player will feel it out with a coin or a 1-mana spell so their expensive spell isn’t wasted and it will actually generate advantage for you.

"cast a X boxes of yogg where X is the CMC of the countered spell"
