The minion types are in a pretty good place right now, but if the team were to add another, then I believe a good choice would be something like 'Spirit'. This would be a minion type that covers all the incorporeal, undead minions such as Ghosts, Spectres, Wraiths, Shades, Phantoms, Wisps and possibly Banshees. It would not include, zombies, ghouls, forsaken, possessed objects or other undead that have a consistently solid form.
If this was a thing, the minion type would start as of now with around 36 members approximately (not including tokens). So, thoughts? Are there any borderline minions that could or couldn't be in this minion type? Any minions that could benefit from having a type (like Lady in White being fetchable for instance)? Should it be called 'Spirit' or something else? That seems to be the all-encompassing term for such creatures in WoW according to the wiki.
Ghost Light Angler only makes sense as a Murloc due to sinergies, not sure if adding a new tribe would be a good idea or could cause balance issues. The idea is cool though.

Ghost Light Angler could also get the same treatment that Witchwood Grizzly got to keep its typing.
I believe that there are actually few enough 'Spirits' that having their own type wouldn't be very confusing or unbalanced. Not like other suggestions like 'Undead' or Humanoid minion types.
I like the idea pretty well. There's some interesting ideas for effects that could go with their tribe. Ie like maybe vanishing from the board for a turn to play into their incorporeal fantasy.
Personally I've wanted a "plant" minion type for a bit. There's a few legendaries for the tribe already, but I'm uncertain of whether or not Druid's treants should be reclassified as such for balancing purposes.
Types are based on World of Warcraft though , Undead is a type , Ghoul is just Undead for example. So people keep mentioning all sorts of types but in the end this game usually follows the rules from World of Warcraft.

The types are *mostly* based on World of Warcraft, but they don't follow that games rules to the letter. Hearthstone follows what is mechanically intuitive and fun for the game. This is why Murlocs and Pirates have a minion type, it's why Quilboar are only being added to Battlegrounds, and why Treants and other plant minions aren't counted as Elementals.
This the reasoning I use when I suggest that a 'Spirit' minion type would be more balanced and intuitive than something like 'Undead'. An 'Undead' minion type would have to account for over twice as many existing minions and would include many minions which actually have nothing to do with each other besides being "undead" (ghosts, forsaken, ghouls, death knights...).

This minion type could also tidy up a few inconsistencies and confusing labels which the team has addressed in the past (ghostly minions that are typed as Beasts, Pirates, etc). Minions that would gain this type include Wisp, Spirit of the Dead, Ghost Light Angler, Arfus, Ghostly Charger, Prince Liam, Lady in White

Could be nice addition to battlegrounds but its quite irrelevant in other game modes.

Only as irrelevant as Mechs or Elementals were when they became fully-fledged minion types with the cards to support it.

To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffer!
