You have'nt had chance to try out the new cool cards you've picked up, Do you honestly think any nerfs are going to change that and allow you to play new cool cards, This is'nt expansions of the past where people actually tried new decks for a few week after a expansion until the meta settled, The meta was settled before the new expansion even arrived, Minute one of the expansion everyone knew what was going to be the power house decks and thats what they have played and will continue to play.
As soon as the nerfs are announced before the patch even goes life the new meta will already be in place, Theres unlikely to be much if any experimenting happening people already know what decks are strong right now, Sure they might not be Mage or Paladin level strong but if those two classes suffer big time from the nerf the next decks to take that spot are already ready and waiting to be the new decks you'll be seeing game in game out, Maybe if we're lucky it will be more than 2-3 classes but even if it is that you're still very unlikely to beable to try your new cards because you're going to be coming up against decks that are already refined and were refined before the expansion even launched.
As long as Blizzard keeps having these pre expansion tests for streamers ect the chances of really getting to try out new cards are very slim because the decks are out before the expansions are and as we have seen not only in this expansion but previous ones aswell a large portion of the player base will play the best decks from the off and keep playing them until they are nerfed because winning is more fun for them, Even back when people did used to experiment with decks in a new expansion you had players who would play old existing decks purely to farm ladder against those people experimenting and would'nt even play a new deck until it was meta to do so and once it was that was all they would play.
As much i would like to tell you that you'll get your chance to play with your new cool cards sadly it is very unlikely that will happen because as you are seeing now people only want to play the best decks and are not interested in anything else, Thinking nerfs will change anything is just wishful thinking really because the only thing nerfs change are cards and decks, The players remain the same and the players only play the best decks and as much as i would like to tell you otherwise.......There is no nerf that is going to change that, There is always going to be a meta, There is always going to be the best 2 or 3 decks and those decks are going to be what you run into game after game after game, If you're lucky you might get a single day where you run into something different but dont worry once peoples favorite streamers start playing those meta decks we'll be back to the usual meta deck grindfest we all know and hate.
Sorry but you are wrong and you're missing the point. Yes there is always going to be a meta and there is always going to be some decks that are stronger than other ones but the issue here is with viability. In the past (for the most part) there has still been a much larger selection of competitive decks, any Tier 1, 2 or 3 decks were still viable on ladder. Currently you're restricted to 4 different decks across 3 different classes (possibly one extra with the rise of face hunter but its only good against mage) just to remain competitive. I hit legend last month with spell dmg mage, which was a tier 3 deck for most of the season and that was possible because there was enough people playing other tier 2 and 3 decks to make it viable. I didnt play it because it was the best deck, I played it because it was fun to play. Imagine trying to climb to legend with an elemental shaman or any other current tier 3 deck in the current meta lol, it would be grand old waste of time.
And if you don't think that DoL is keeping many new interesting cards out of the meta then you clearly haven't got a clue what you're talking about. That 1 card is keeping many other cards out of the meta. Its the best card in the game currently, the stats don't lie. No one is playing Warrior, DH, Shaman and Rogue - that in itself is 100s of cards not in the meta which otherwise would be. This time next week the meta will be in a much better place.
Just to highlight how ridiculous this meta is, stats below from my last 100 games.
If those stats don't highlight a terribly broken meta, I don't know what else does. 83% of my games were against either mage or paladin. 1% against druid and rogue and not a single game against priest, shaman and warrior. I know the nerfs are coming soon and I know a lot of people are sick of all the whining (I didnt know the nerfs were confirmed when I made this thread) but this is something that should never happen again in HS.
I think they should have gone forward with nerfs right away. Honestly 2 weeks of 80% decks between mage and Paladin is just way too off. I understand they have tournament, but the game is unplayable.
Everybody knew that these decks are insane and now will be tournament, which will be plagued by these decks and right after it everything will be nerfed, so even this tournament will have no value to players, as meta will shift drastically.

Yep..Because of pointless GMs meta is garbage and unplayable..
I am currently on Legend rank (1200-1500 range) and I play this deck , because it has a good winrate and it is not THAT brain dead, as most of you guys think. For instance, I almost never play DoL against Priest or Warlcock, even when I have it in hand , because I value my own burst cards much more usefull. Second, I almost never play DoL as soon as I get it , because I need to evaluate apropriate time to play it , so that I have enough draw in hand already, or some backup plan in case my rng will be bad.
Of course it had to be nerfed, because it can create some unfair interactions comparing to other classes' available tools, but I dont share your opinion about "boredom" the Dol provides. You always need to use your brain even with strong cards to push max from them

Well, I explained why it is not and your opinion is just an emotional reply without some facts provided.
And after all - how you compare brain activity in first place, playing decks? Sure, there are some easier or harder decks to pilot, but in general EVERY deck in hearthstone needs good thinking. That is why so many players playing same decks and on different ranks.

I play DoL as I find it refreshing and fun :) If I just want to win I pick up my Face Hunter but no need to rush for legend when there´s 2/3 left of the month.
I am sorry that you feel so bad. Unfortunately I don´t play this game so OTHER PEOPLE have fun, I play to enjoy it myself :)
All people do is complain. I play without DOL. (Yes I have every card from all Standard sets) I still have a 60% WR at D5-1. My DOL deck is sitting at 58%. If you are going to complain about a game that is suppose to be fun, go play some My Little Pony Dress Up so you do not get butt hurt. Next week it will be complaining about another deck. You can't win every game. The people who complain are try hard cry babies. My 2 Cents. Yes, I know it's not worth anything! I never post much, but this has gone too far. Stop Whining.
I'm genuinely at the point where I just don't want to play anymore. 10 games I've played this morning and 9 of them were against mage - its a horrible experience, its boring and its just ruining the game. There's no variety - I cant even try out most of the cool cards I've picked up this expansion because I'm stuck playing Control Lock, Libram/Secret Paladin.
I just cant understand why its taking them this long to fix it. Surely they have enough statistics now to show that they need to make some changes to fix the meta. Its been days since I've played against a priest or warrior and haven't seen a shaman since day 1, that should not be happening.
Its not about not being able to beat them either, I have a positive w/l ratio against Mage with all three decks I've been playing - its just the fact that it feels like the meta is restricted to 3 classes.
I also have a genuine question to the people who play the mage DoL deck, do you find the deck fun to play? Or do you just play it because you want to win? I'm genuinely just curious because I've played it a few times and for me personally the only thing more boring than playing against DoL mage is actually playing it myself. It just feels like there is no strategy behind the deck and from the moment the game start until it ends you completely reliant on RNG (whether you play DoL or not).
Yes, I find it fun and I have done for months. This is not a new card, you just didn't care about it before because it wasn't very good. I agree that the pool of cards currently is a problem though, it shokd be a random card but it's only really semi random because you can pretty much rig certain cards, so that's not cool. The Negrand Slam issue is problematic, I do very much agree there. Though I don't see that upping the cost as a nerf will help with that in the slightest.
You may only be seeing it now but I've been playing with lunacy, flow and the mage quest (rip) for ages.
It's way more consistent than it had been previously but I've played variations of spell mage because I like that the games feel different. I like having choices to make which is why in a fan of discover. I like that you are able to find solutions to problems that you just can't if you have a deck of 30 cards and those are the only cards you use. It's for this reason that I have about 20 wins with demon hunter, I just don't enjoy that style of deck. Face hunter etc are the same for me.
I've messed around a load with warrior and priest during this expansion so far as well and despite having awful win rates, I've enjoyed the decks.
Seems a little hypocritical of you to blast mage players and ask if all they care about is the win rate when you bemoan 'having' to play certain decks, which you are clearly playing because they have a positive win rate. People will feel about secret paladin or warlock as you feel about mage.
So I'd pose your own question back at you regarding both paladin and warlock decks that you're playing - "do you find the deck fun to play? Or do you just play it because you want to win?"
Whatever your answer is, apply that to a different person and swap the class to mage.
I also run a spell deck without lunacy, which is also very fun. I've lost a LOT of matches in the last 6+ months due to spell mage being pretty meh, I'm not going to switch out now because its good and I'll continue to play it post whatever nerf they decide on.

What deck isn't accused of being 'brain dead'? I've literally seen this accusation thrown at every style and archetype of deck there is. It hold zero weight, its a nothing sort of insult. I have no reason to think you're even remotely switched on or intelligent (I'm not saying you're not, I just have no evidence that you are). You haven't provided any substance or context here.
So you can copy and paste this a million times, all you're doing is the equivilant of standing in an empty room and stamping your feet.
Nobody cares, Princess. But if it makes you feel better, go for it I guess.
Whenever they are coming, they are already far too late. The start of FitB is very much ruined for anyone not willing to just netdeck the strongest decks.
Honestly I've never felt so discouraged to try anything new in standard after a new expansion. This is much worse even than when demon hunter was released, at least then you could counter them. Any counters you try against mage are already useless if they play deck of lunacy early.
it is simple. people who play Mage have fun. And I gather they are the majority, since, well most of the matches are with Mage. The rest will stop playing the game or try their luck with the crappy decks.
Which is the reason I believe this whole situation with, 2-3 dominant meta decks, is a deliberate plan from Blizzard's part. They knew that these decks were broken when they were testing their new cards. But they released them anyway, because they are using the usual gambling methods to maintain that dopamine rush and keep the players addicted to their game. They keep it like that for a month or two, and then they take action after "analyzing their data".
Why make the effort to win or take the risk to lose the game, when you can spend a few buck and have a deck which will always "pwn" the opponent until it gets nerfed? A lot of players think like that and Blizzard is catering to them.
If Blizzard really wanted to have a balanced game, every time they release a new card set, they should introduce some new rules, internal and external. By internal, I mean, dont have the same legendary card getting generated multiple times. see Titacus. by external, have the player not play more than 5 spells in every turn. something like that.

Yeah...just my opinion. Its very hard to play that deck, im sure :)
you just rip my words out of context. I said you have to think ahead your next moves and not just blindly play DoL as soon as you see it drawn

Next week, calm down
No, face hunter just demolishes spell mage 9/10 times. And that with DoL turn 2 or not.

If Murphy's Law was a videogame, it would be called Hearthstone.
