I'm genuinely at the point where I just don't want to play anymore. 10 games I've played this morning and 9 of them were against mage - its a horrible experience, its boring and its just ruining the game. There's no variety - I cant even try out most of the cool cards I've picked up this expansion because I'm stuck playing Control Lock, Libram/Secret Paladin.
I just cant understand why its taking them this long to fix it. Surely they have enough statistics now to show that they need to make some changes to fix the meta. Its been days since I've played against a priest or warrior and haven't seen a shaman since day 1, that should not be happening.
Its not about not being able to beat them either, I have a positive w/l ratio against Mage with all three decks I've been playing - its just the fact that it feels like the meta is restricted to 3 classes.
I also have a genuine question to the people who play the mage DoL deck, do you find the deck fun to play? Or do you just play it because you want to win? I'm genuinely just curious because I've played it a few times and for me personally the only thing more boring than playing against DoL mage is actually playing it myself. It just feels like there is no strategy behind the deck and from the moment the game start until it ends you completely reliant on RNG (whether you play DoL or not).
Dude why you don't simply play face hunter? if you face 9 mages out of 10 those are 9 free wins.
This is not how a lot of players think. I don't want to be forced into an archetype just to win. It's a casual game, nothing like Chess or Go, and as such it should include some semblance of fun. Yes it can be fun to farm assholes mages playing Secret or Lunacy, but it has limits.
Dude its not about that, I can beat them with Libram Paladin and even Control Warlock. Its the lack of variety that's the problem. I would prefer if I run into more people playing face hunter tbh but I've faced 3 this week.
The meta is in the worst place its ever been that I can remember, even Outlands wasn't this bad. Its just a horrible experience every time I play. I don't understand how anybody is having fun right now. I genuinely just don't know what else to say.
It feels like the whole community are just as annoyed as well with the state of the game. Go to any stream, all the streamers just look miserable and deflated when playing HS, everyone is complaining about something and still nothing has changed.

This is exactly the problem. There is zero fun and everything feels forced, you are forced to run an anti mage deck to be competitive. You remove mage from the equation and then a lot more classes become viable because the decks which get absolutely obliterated by mage can still compete against Warlock and Paladin. Its the easiest fix ever and yet its taking them an age, make DoL unplayable and fix refreshing spring water, it will fix most of the problems in the game and it doesn't even make mage unplayable, spell mage and hero power mage will both still be fine.
Oh wow! I didnt even see that it wasn't in my feed. Well its at least some good news but it should have come this week really. Thats at least another 4 days of this hell, not sure I have it in me tbh lol. Think I will sit this one out until the nerfs drop.
I agree. If they released the balance patch in the next minute, it would be too late...but at least it's on its way. Not as bad as balance patches in the past where it would take months!
It will be interesting to see which cards do get nerfed.

There's GM this week and I think most GMs wouldn't want nerfs announced 1 day before having to turn their decks in (other than Luna who said she'd be fine with it but also admitted being in the minority). Honestly, if ladder is really that bad for you and you don't want to counterqueue, just don't play, you don't have a quota to fill, lad.

I know but this is the situation.
You have only 3 choices:
1- Keep playing normally and lose all games to deck of lunacy, then complain in forums.
2- Play aggro and demolish them.
3- Play only non ranked and just have fun with random decks without caring about rank, until nerfs come.

This is the craziest thing IMO. How do you try and present your biggest competitive event to the public with these types of variables. I'm not blaming the devs for having overpowered cards because you can play test things as much as you want but there is absolutely no substitute for the type of data you can acquire from tracking hundreds of thousands - if not millions of games; however, you can control when you schedule your competitive e-sports league so why would you ever have it start this close to a new expansion/season knowing full well there will be multiple cards which requiring tweaking for the health of the game?

2- Play aggro and demolish them.
This is not true at all.
The deck have enough cheap spells to deal with aggro and soon start to draw like crazy for 0 or 1 mana they get the advantage pretty quickly.
The only deck can really cause trouble is weapon rogue IF they don't play Lunacy turn 2, and that is all.
You have'nt had chance to try out the new cool cards you've picked up, Do you honestly think any nerfs are going to change that and allow you to play new cool cards, This is'nt expansions of the past where people actually tried new decks for a few week after a expansion until the meta settled, The meta was settled before the new expansion even arrived, Minute one of the expansion everyone knew what was going to be the power house decks and thats what they have played and will continue to play.
As soon as the nerfs are announced before the patch even goes life the new meta will already be in place, Theres unlikely to be much if any experimenting happening people already know what decks are strong right now, Sure they might not be Mage or Paladin level strong but if those two classes suffer big time from the nerf the next decks to take that spot are already ready and waiting to be the new decks you'll be seeing game in game out, Maybe if we're lucky it will be more than 2-3 classes but even if it is that you're still very unlikely to beable to try your new cards because you're going to be coming up against decks that are already refined and were refined before the expansion even launched.
As long as Blizzard keeps having these pre expansion tests for streamers ect the chances of really getting to try out new cards are very slim because the decks are out before the expansions are and as we have seen not only in this expansion but previous ones aswell a large portion of the player base will play the best decks from the off and keep playing them until they are nerfed because winning is more fun for them, Even back when people did used to experiment with decks in a new expansion you had players who would play old existing decks purely to farm ladder against those people experimenting and would'nt even play a new deck until it was meta to do so and once it was that was all they would play.
As much i would like to tell you that you'll get your chance to play with your new cool cards sadly it is very unlikely that will happen because as you are seeing now people only want to play the best decks and are not interested in anything else, Thinking nerfs will change anything is just wishful thinking really because the only thing nerfs change are cards and decks, The players remain the same and the players only play the best decks and as much as i would like to tell you otherwise.......There is no nerf that is going to change that, There is always going to be a meta, There is always going to be the best 2 or 3 decks and those decks are going to be what you run into game after game after game, If you're lucky you might get a single day where you run into something different but dont worry once peoples favorite streamers start playing those meta decks we'll be back to the usual meta deck grindfest we all know and hate.
Why are people even complaining. They literally announced balance changes next week. Slog through it, or take the next 5 days off. Not that big a deal lol.
The devs of this game have an unexplainable fixation on announcing that there will be future nerf announcements instead of just announcing the damn nerfs.

Unexplainable? Oh it’s very easily explained. If card nerfs get announced, people will stop crafting decks which include those cards. If the nerfs are left ambiguous, there’s more likely a chance that people will still craft cards which will be nerfed and therefore also craft the deck which goes with those cards and waste their dust, forcing them to either craft more cards or potentially spend more money/gold on getting enough dust to craft the next deck.

That's why I don't craft/dust anything until the first nerf is announced for an expansion (except for the times where I know the card is not that good but it's fun, such is the case with my Deathrattle Demon Hunter).

A wise decision. I for one, play rogue almost exclusively, so i just craft rogue cards and neutrals after opening enough packs for 2-3 legendaries

Climbed from 5k to 7800 rating in battlegrounds, WAY more enjoyable game mode atm!

Yeah guys my suggestion is to just abandon ranked until nerfs and do some unranked to test new decks, less stress this way.
