Hearthstone is a game people play for fun. Many people have different ways of having fun. I have fun playing homebrew meme decks for the first month of an expansion, and then grinding some form of midrange Paladin as high up the ladder as it'll take me, - whether we're in Scholomance and Midrange Paladin is the best deck and easy Legend, or we're in Descent of Dragons and Paladin is nigh unplayable, it's just the form of gameplay I enjoy most in this game. Some people have fun trying to maximize their winrate at all costs. None of these are less valid or "honourable", especially not in a game which provides the tools to minmax and focuses on a mode that's all about getting your winrate as high as possible as fast as possible each month. You may not like it (and I certainly don't), but not queueing Mage or Paladin right now is unironically a misplay, it's something you do that lowers your winrate. If you're trying to win as many games as possible, which is what Ranked is all about, not playing Mage or Paladin is the wrong move. Most importantly: None of this actually matters. Hearthstone is a game, it's not important. Let people come back from their shitty day at work and play a videogame the way they want for the few hours of day where they're allowed to do what they want. Them wanting to win isn't a moral failing. Get over yourself.
The archery example isn't even applicable here. I've seen the clip you're on about, and they're both clearly using expensive bows. What you're doing is showing up with a rubber band that you've wrapped around the edge of a bent toothpick and throwing a tantrum when the other guy hasn't done the same thing. Having a good bow is as much a part of their preparation as learning to aim. Sportsmanship and integrity isn't kneecapping yourself in order to be on the same level as an opponent who's clearly done worse prepwork than you (by bringing a meme deck to ladder when you're playing a top-tier optimized deck). In the case of the archery clip, it's avoiding punishing your opponent for something that was out of their control. Someone else in this thread brought up a much better comparison - skipping your turn after your opponent AFKs or DCs for theirs.
lmfao OP get over yourself. it's a video game. nobody is cheating or breaking any rules. if a problem exists blizzard will fix it, which GASP guess what - they are!
Why don't you play casual then, where is your integrity ? There's more to life than ranked modes. "winrated be damned" you said.
Of all the places where people could have a little more integrity, video games is the least of my concerns, it's the one place in the world where having no integrity is of no consequence.
Winning is more fun than losing, people win for fun not to frustrate you.
And if you made this post, it's not because you have more integrity than others, it's because you are losing with your allegedly fair decks and wish you'd win. But the moment you start winning with your deck, people will say you have no integrity and teach you how to raise your children.
These people are not cheating, they are not taking advantage of anyone, they are playing cards available to them. You are also free to concede against any deck you dislike, I do that sometimes, as you said rankfloor can help. And again, winrated be damned you said that too.
As for your archery story, tell me when was the last time you passed your turn when your opponent was AFK for a turn ? Yeah, right. Winning is more fun.
Take control of your own life, nobody forces you to endure spell mage if you don't want to, it's just a game. If the deck is indeed broken Blizzard will nerf it and that's the end of it, people with no integrity will suddently have integrity again and you will seek other children to educate, most likely children of hyper aggro or tickatus players.
its no different in casual. you see the same broken decks there too. I think the point was, everybody has different opinions , and the Op clearly stated there more to life , and HS, than just winning games. Yes we all compete to win, but winning with a broken deck isnt all that valuable to them. It obviously is too you. Thats ok too.
This thread is absolute gold. Here I thought integrity in a competitive game meant not cheating but no, apparently integrity is doing your best to win? That's one curious concept right there. Your frankly dumb archery example is not about integrity, it's called sportmanship and it's not in any way, shape or form required (and in fact I wouldn't fault the archer for taking his shots, hardly his fault if the other is incompetent enough to have faulty equipment) to have "integrity".
But even discarding that, the absolute balls to call integrity of all things in a children's card game when you don't have to play it competitively...there's a word for that too, but I'll be kind and leave it to your imagination. Newsbreak, when playing a competitive anything most people want to have fun and, again, for most people having fun = winning. And, will ya look at that son, you win more often by net-decking (which has always been true of literally every dccg since they were a thing). If you get your kicks by climbing ladder with your homebrew deck (which is basically identical to thousands of other decks, that I'm certain about because that's how deck building works) then you do you, but don't come whine like a little baby when you keep facing people who netdeck. Why on earth should they try to have less fun by playing suboptimally? To do you a sodding favour, you hilariously selfish hypocrite? Give me a break. Go play casual if you're triggered by people playing to win, that should maybe calm you down a little.
Then again, after seeing creeps comparing having integrity to employing personal touch (I don't even want to know where, what or whom), maybe it's just as well most hearthstone players don't have integrity. Yuck.

buddy, I think you missed my point entirely. I have control of life, thats why I dont play broken decks. I get no satisfaction winning with a deck that is supposed to win. I play HS becuz I love deck building and trying to counter the meta.
With the archery story, once again you missed the point. The point is to not play mage ie: not win that way , not afk a turn back.
It seems like you responded with alot of emotion and not much rational mind.

lol I didnt think it was having balls, just expressing where I stand on HS and why I play. I play to explore the cards and get ful value from my collection. I take no satisfaction winning with decks that are op and supposed to win. Thats me. I call this intergtrity. I correllate too other areas of life, where I could take advantage of the situation and win at all costs, or I can play with Integrity.
I dont play the game to win at all costs. Yes I play ladder, but under my values.
Theres enough room for everybody to play regardless of opinions. I never told people they have to do this, I just asked general questions in order to generate a dialouge and get peop;le thinking of this topic.
We the players are the ones who determine what gets played. If maybe even a couple people say, nah, im not going to be apart of the problem, then I consider that awesome.

Casual is the exact same, only worse at times. I know from experience. I only plya home brew decks, and I relish the challenge of trying to beat the meta with my own ideas.
Yiou also completely missed the point of what I was saying as well as the Archery point; the point isnt too afk, its to not play broken decks , knowing full well they are broken.
What satisfaction do u get from winning with broken decks?
I think this might be an age thing. I feel like the youth of today love this type of meta, becuz attention spans are lower than they used to be, and instant gratification are more important to todays youth, than using integrity in the choices they make when competing.
I know im going to change many people opinions, and thats ok. But I can still share what I think and feel , just like you.
If you feel personally attacked, then maybe you should look inside yourself, and maybe you will learn something about why you feel that way?
I have been playing a good amount of Lunacy Mage this expansion but i don’t get any enjoyment out of winning with it to be honest. It doesn’t feel like I used logical thought to play well or strategized at all, I just got huge spells for a massive discount and so it was impossible for my opponent to recover. It’s a bit more fun when you don’t hit DoL within turn 2, but the combination of Arcane Intellect, Refreshing Spring Water, and Cram Session is just an absurd and unnecessary level of draw. I know a lot of people have been complaining about facing this deck but is anyone who is playing it themselves feeling disappointed at how braindead its game plan is? I was excited for DoL to become viable but this is not what I was imagining before the rotation took place.

Sorry, I'm throwing the BS flag here. You told anyone playing the most common, best deck in Standard right now to "Have some courage and integrity, dont be a part of the problem, live in the solution. Lead by example. Grow up." And now you have the audacity to say that you never told anyone what to do? That's simply not true.

You play HS for reasons. I play HS for reasons. Mage players play HS for reasons. Period. There's nothing more to it, your reasons are not better than any other reason.
What's rational about wanting players to stop playing a class to satisfy your personal expectations ?
You love trying to counter the meta but you want mage gone from the meta until it's fixed ? That's hilarious man, makes 0 sense. I guess that is a way to counter the meta, maybe you stopped 1 or 2 people from playing mage for a day after they read this thread, who knows.
I didn't miss your point, you are missing it. And by the looks of it you will never get it, you're too obsessed being an underdog.

In what world is drawing 4 cards for free, into insane levels of burst remotely fair? Some games, mage draws 6 cards on turn 4!!!
6 cards on turn 4.
into 3 mana Nourish, into 1mana fireballs etc......
some days i face mage over 50% of my games.
I feel I am more than entitled to call you mage players out on this.
Despite popular opinion, there is more important things than just winning at all cost.
Im old though. Its things I grew into too, cuz I def didnt feel this way when I was young,
It doesn't help that you're coming across as pretty narrow minded and judgey. Even in this reply, you're slyly working in about 'despite popular opinion'. You're repeatedly asserting WHY other people are doing things, not to mention acting like there is only one possible reason and its the reason you've determined. It just makes you look like a bit of a dick. You're generalising and making false assumptions but then arrogantly putting them across, it's bizarre.
'you mage players'. Grow the F up. I play several variations of spell mage, I have done since cards were printed for it. Just because some man child on hearthpwn suddenly doesn't like it, you think I'm going to stop? Screw you mate, I've been getting battered by aggro decks for months whilst using deck of lunacy, were you complaining then? Why should I stop using a card I actively enjoy playing? Because you don't like it? Get over yourself.

If you wanna play "by fun" play some casual games, arena or duels.
Yes, there's alot of mage right now but what would you expect? People wanna climb ranks and they wont do it playing meme decks

Let's make Hunter great.
Damn all these mage players getting so upset when someone tries to talk about integrity LOL copy paste

LOL Tegridy farms,
Integrity; 1. adherence to moral or ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty
2. The state of being whole, entire, or undiminished
3. A sound, unimpaired, or perfect condition
So I think integrity is the correct term to use in regards to choosing to use a broken deck knowins full its broken.
Win at all costs.
Not everybody plays only to win. Some play to expriments, explore, have fun, and for myself, to deck build and try to counter the meta.
Its alot easier to not play broken decks now with the Rank floors at every 5 and 10 rank respectively.
Heres a post from the OP from a new thread about Lunacy mage, I felt its very appropriate for the topic, cuz hes a mage player.
I have been playing a good amount of Lunacy Mage this expansion but i don’t get any enjoyment out of winning with it to be honest. The fact is that you stated right up front IN YOUR FIRST POST that anyone who is playing the best deck right now lacks integrity. Because of the way they play a frickin' game. On a lark, I looked up some of your previous posts. In this one https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/card-discussion/246091-remove-tickatus-from-the-game-already?comment=132 you said "Grow up and let others be themselves."
