Paladin player here. Strong class but can be defeated/worked around as it is predictable. Dude pally is no longer viable. Just secret and librams now. Tried watchpost pally but it isn't viable either. Libram has always been beatable by polymorph, devolving missiles, etc. Secret can be best by taunts or control (don't attack = don't trigger). I've also played no minion mage w lunacy and that one is more RNG/OP imo. The draw 2 cards refresh 4 Mana crystals is ridiculously OP. Mage hand always full. Pally hand goes empty quick

Problem is, Polymorph rotated and Shaman isn't competitive in the meta at large (though I agree that it handles pally fairly well).
But I think that all comes back to spell mage. When one class dominates the meta so thoroughly you can't afford to play anything that loses 80% to it. If it got down to a reasonable play rate, we could run Paladin counters without taking a massive win rate hit.
The problem with this meta is that it is all rush. I prefer playing until we are almost out of cards, I barely get to 8 or 9 mana before the game is over whether i win or not. Its terrible and almost no strat involved.

Fewer cards in standard means less deck types and differences. Same every year.

Mage is beyond stupid with so much face damage coming from multiple Mask of C'Thun, Apexis Blasts and Fireballs. Paladins and Warlocks are annoying.

dont you know every Meta is the worst Meta
Can’t believe this is still being posted on as an active problem.
The meta has a hell of a lot more viability now than it did with paladin/magestone only. quit being ridiculous
