I don't think the power level of the decks is as much the problem as how bad they feel to play against. Lunacy Mage has no counterplay not necessarily because it's that strong, but because you literally can't play around their cards - neither they nor you know what they hell they have in their deck. Secret Paladin runs into the usual secret deck problem where you can't play around their secrets because it's not like a Sword of the Fallen is picking the best one to cast, and even if they play it from hand sometimes it's just to fill mana - Oh My Yogg is a particular problem, since every time a secret comes in play you have to re-check whether it's Oh My Yogg and that often doesn't leave you with mana to clear their board, or if it does you've now cast one card check, are committed to playing a clear, and then your third card summons a 3/4 Galloping Savior for them, so it's not like you can get the board back. Special shoutout to having to watch the Pen Flinger animation for minutes on end in every match against a Paladin or Rogue - they really need to speed it up.
I'm still playing around with dumb and bad homebrew decks and climbing relatively alright (I'm hovering at about 50% winrate overall - usually a couple percent lower, but I have gone over 50% at times -, having played a decent chunk of Taunt Druid, Leoroxx OTK Hunter, and Lock and Load Malygos Hunter, all really awful decks), so I really don't think Lunacy Mage in particular is as insanely powerful as people say, but it is a very unfun meta to play in, which is really sad because this is the most fun I've had actually building decks in forever.
Forcing some diversity into deck of lunacy would be nice, both for the lowrollers stuck with loads of card draw and for people fighting the high rollers with only flamestrikes and mask of cthuns.
My homebrew control warrior does well against deck of lunacy mage, only lose to the really high rolls.
I've been playing since beta and i believe this is the only legit unplayable meta, ever. I reach rank 2 diamond with a meme deck before the mage infestation , literally the day after that i saw all this crap growing and i stop playing since. It's just a waste of time.
Seriously people in hearthpawn mostly doesn't do anything except whining first nerf watch post rogue then mage and then paladin and then warlock even though warlock cause tictus like lol actually what u need is play other game or get someone to win u games honestly deck of lunecy is so predictable deck u just don't use ur stupid brain and any control deck can beat this deck stop whining every 2 min and go play

Unless they get lucky (which... they often can, the odds aren't that bad) most decks that can heal through their burn and clear their boards can do pretty well.
But sometimes they just draw like double incanter's flow or a bunch of Nagrand Slams or something and it's impossible to catch up.
This meta is literally unplayable until mage nerf.
Palaidin is not big problem IMO, but mage is so cancerous atm.
Yes mage is cancerous, especially his random deck card. But meta is unplayable for new archetypes only. Old things like face rogue or face hunt kill mage easily
That's exavtly the problem. You're either bottlenecked into playing boring face decks or you just lose.
I agree. Let's wait for the nerf. Lunacy should reduce spells by 2 and water should cost 5. Actually before spell mage swarmed the larger meta was fun and cool to play. Rush warrior, control decks, all amount of midrange decks with outposts or not- all was fun and ok for the climb
True, though the only play ive seen a mage make so far that made the game hopeless for me was initiating my Rattlegore into double potion of illusion. That was painful, but luck is a part of the game you know. Cant win em all

I was also playing with control warrior and it looses to mage more often then win. Only if mage has really bad outcome and sort without card. When he pays sprint for 3, sure with full have and then plays 2-3 nagrand slams - is not possible to win.
It's funny how everyone saying the meta is not that bad has proper arguments while the other side just goes "REEEEEE L1ter4lLy uNp!4yab13 REEEE"
I mean it's not a particularly fun meta. Control Warlock is obnoxious, Secret Paladin (as with most viable Secret decks) is irritating, and Lunacy Mage just has *insane* value generation and can cheat out so much stuff. I dunno if they're the most broken *ever* but they're... pretty centralizing and IMO not fun at all.
Personally, I'm just not a fan of the secret design of cards like Oh my Yogg, or Counterspell or Freezing Trap. Ones that are like "oh, you wanna do a thing? Well, nope."
There needs to be some balance changes to take the edge off of these three classes IMO.
Dude, you are just telling everyone that you basically know shit about the game. Mage is S Tier - THERE IS NO CONTROL DECK THAT CAN BEAT IT!
This is such a nonsense post.
"honestly deck of lunecy is so predictable" woah just facepalm. The cards are random created from a pool of outcomes...
" u just don't use ur stupid brain and any control deck can beat this deck" Ok it is just not possible to keep up with their tempo. They can play like 3- 5 strong cards in 1 turn while drawing cards. There is no control deck that can keep up with that. And its the average- not the nutdraw.
And yeah its true the watchposts are also way too strong for their mana cost but mage is so much stronger that people forget about it.
It is so clear to me you have no fing clue what are talking about.

That much is true. The metagame is by no means excellent and even the developers have acknowledged some of the problems.
The fact that three of the strongest cards right now (lunacy, Flinger and watchposts) are so anti-fun is a problem.
But that statement is very far from "worst metagame since..." or "unplayable until..."
Every single deck of lunecy u mostly get the same random cards and u can easy predict which cards can he get I beat most of them with control lock, and priest, as for Rouge really watchtower are that powerful LOL and people forgot about them cause mage so what u say is basically people just whine about who gets better and honselty the only powered card in lunecy is the 0 mana draw 2 cards that's what u should call two powerful card play more games ffs

Yeah just trying to steer the conversation into a more constructive direction.
Honestly I would find it kind of unplayable if I was running into nothing but Warlock and Mage. It's sort of like when I was playing a tempo deck last year and I kept running into Paladin. The matches were super long and there was just almost no way I could win (so I was basically just hoping for them to draw badly). Or at least it felt that way.
All of us a month ago: "I want a more controlly meta"
Well... the meta is definitely slower, I think they accomplished their goals in a lot of respects. But for a healthy control meta, they REALLY need to cut down on the volume of hard removal. Ysera, Alexstrasza and Malygos were also great additions to control decks in addition to the existing old gods.
Brawl & Twisting Nether need to go (Brawl's not a problem NOW, but in general). Warlock can't have both the Soul Fragment package AND the Shadow Removal/healing package because that's just ridiculous amounts of removal and healing. Mage has so much removal with it's ability to draw tons and tons of cards and discount them ad nauseum.
The meta people REALLY want to see return is a board-centric meta. Where every minion you play doesn't just get blown up immediately. I actually think the priest removal package is a great example of a removal package control classes SHOULD have. In addition to the fact that priest can't just constantly refill their hand WHILE playing removal, their removal cards are all either combo based, or only hit specific targets. And while they can get extra copies from discover, Soul Mirror and Xyrella are both legendaries.
Idk if the meta is broken but I'm sure it is unfun.
I faced 10 no minion mage in a row, they draw cards sooo fast and do crazy combos, thousands secrets... I'm playing aggro rogue and if you draw correctly you can beat them but I mean, the meta FORCE me to play only aggro decks where only luckily I can beat the only deck i face to.
Thank you! At last someone speaking sense. Tickatus is just.... I mean I have no words. I enjoy trying to beat mage and paladin while also joining them sometimes... but control warlock. It can go f itself. I cannot beat it with lunacy mage btw... so if it gets nerfed and tickfck doesn't im guna be enraged. I was beating it with celestial druid for a bit as it can stop the corruptions but its not working out recently. Plus the match ups seem to always be unlucky as u say u either win 100% or 0%. It is too early in the expansion but Tickatus needed it b4 and it needs it now!

New Expansion, same Story.
“Worst meta since...“
So many new cards, everyone Netdecks, that the real problem.

there are no arguments against facts.

My winrate against mages is still over 50%, but i havent hit my usual monthly rank yet, only d10 at the moment.
