I think this deck is the perfect expression of what blizzard has been trying to do with this game. Loads of RNG, loads of non interactive play, it is like a tavern brawl. If you think this is a good direction and enjoy this...congrats. if you don't, I am sorry, this type of gameplay will just return in one form or other (priest is close right now).
Yep. It's completly busted. But many Mage players doesn't see a problem with. Because its random and if its random then its ok.
Mage players? Most people play various, if not all, classes. They aren't a distinct entity.
I had a non minion Mage deck that I crafted the day Evocation was released. Just tweaked it with Deck of Lunacy and have been having fun with it. That doesn't mean i'm a mage player that looks the world differently.
Except it is not quite random why it is so good. Sottle tweeted about this, but like most of the 3 drops that you Lunacy turn into 6 drops and a SIGNIFICANT amount of 6 drops draw cards, and then there's the 4 drops that have a high chance of being Lunacy'd into Nagrand Slams.
So it's not all that random, but actually quite consistent, which is why more and more people are playing it. It just consistently gets you winning results.

they must mean 7 drops and most lunacy versions run 4x but it can also turn into survival of the fittest which is much worse. might as well rename is nagrand mage honestly, most of the other spells it can make aren't that scary.
If you’re having trouble with Mage, run a deck that counters them, like Aggro or Watchpost. Watchpost is quite fun to play and I have been beating Mage consistently with it.
I agree it does highlight the design and foresight of team 5. This card was printed last full expansion. LAST EXPANSION. They don’t have the foresight or design skill to see how one expansion can break a card.
When deck of lunacy was released, it was a meme at best. Then rotation happened and a years worth of cards left the pool for deck of lunacy. Then they decided to remove a lot of the classic cards for the core set. Then they decided to change the power level and tempo of games with the new expansion, focusing it on minions. Suddenly, the meme card is extremely effective because it is consistent. Hearthstone’s design team doesn’t understand basic deck building principles, like reducing the number of cards in a pool increases the consistency of cards drawn from that pool. I can’t remember them ever making this embarrassing a mistake between two expansions.
The game's lead designer has already stated that they didn't want deck of lunacy to be a strong meta card and that it's a candidate for a nerf.
But sure, keep pouring your salt down the throats of the uninformed.
Where?
Dean Ayala's Community Q&A : " Deck of Lunacy is not a card they want to be defining the meta. If it ends up being one, it is a "clear target for change"."
People saying it is random, when it is actually one of the most consistent deck in the meta.
You have Deck of Lunacy turn 2 ? GG you win 75% of the time.
I don't get how it goes through playtesting, like if any of them played this deck or look at the spells available in standard it should have been noticed. It is the meta since day 2 of the expansion, come on.
Is there actually any other card in the game that gives mulligan winrate 75%? That is just nuts. I love being hit by Nagram Slam for 5 mana.
It is actually 66% but yes, it is still WAAY too high.
The problem is actually the spell pool right now, making the card too consistent. With more expensive spells being weapon and minion buffs etc, it would not be a problem, just as it wasn't before the rotation. In Wild, it is also completely useless afaik.
The OP comment is wrong and that is what people seem to fail to understand about Deck of Lunacy, "Oh its loads of RNG", Try playing Deck of Lunacy in wild where it is a load of RNG and come back and tell everyone how broken the card is, The card is'nt broken because its loads of RNG its broken because of the lack of RNG in standard due to the small spell pool it has to pull from, It is a card that will likely get worse with each expansion until it is completely unplayed like it was prior to the current expansion hitting.
Right now you have 2 10 cost spells, 1 9 cost spell, 9 8 cost spells of which 2 are useless and 1 is barely useful, 8 7 cost spells of which 5 are AoE and only 1 is completely useless and finally 7 6 cost spells of which 4 are massive card draw and again only 1 is completely useless, The lack of RNG is what makes Deck of Lunacy a issue not the RNG of it.
With a card like Deck of Lunacy i should'nt beable to predict the kind of deck i'm going to end up with but right now that is quite possible atleast when it comes to the 6-7-8-9-10 cost spells, Its predictable RNG where you can build a deck to give you the best chance of hitting those cards you want because you know the spell pool is so small, Like if i play 1 Incanter's Flow before Deck of Lunacy i know without a doubt that i have 3 Libram of Hope in my deck, I know that i will likely have atleast 2 big card draws in my deck, You know there is a lack of RNG when you can predict what is going to be in your deck with or without Incanter's Flow being played.
Again it is not the card that is the problem, The card was never a issue before the expansion and is not a problem in the slightest in wild, The problem is the small spell pool, Its the perfect storm for Deck of Lunacy a very small spell pool 6 mana and above and most of those spells being extremely strong, It is probably a one expansion wonder because it will get worse the more cards that are added to the pool, That does'nt mean the card in standard is'nt a issue though i'm not saying that all just that the problem is'nt the card itself as much as the spell pool it has to pull from.

Hope they fix it asap man.

how does a 4 drop turn into a 10 drop ?

imagine
currently there are 6 mage secrets !!
and you discover 3 with ring toss
meaning = ALWAYS counterspell
that is the problem !!!!
So, I have around 2000 dust. Should I craft DoL, or is it possible to be nerfed in the near future?

This is actually a really good idea. Lunacy Brawl: Build your own deck. At the start of the game, Deck of Lunacy is cast for both players.
There's a 3/6*2/5 = 6/30 = 20% chance that someone casting ring toss won't be offered counterspell in either discover

Is that deck anymore evil than Pen flinger rogue , Tick or new secret pal? I find it much more fair to play against
