Every time I play against mage its just a massive clown fiesta. 90% of their cards are completely random but for some reason it always works in their favor (at least against me). I've queued into 3 different mages who just played deck of lunacy on 2 trying to get past diamond 10 and every single time they get completely perfect spells and they always just completely destroy me. This is not really fun and it feels really stupid to lose against this deck, I just kinda want to go back to the time where not every single mage card did something random.
If you are losing to deck of lunacy you might want to do something other than hearthstone lol it’s either bad good card ms we get mostly we sit with bad cards in hand lol
I like how this thread is a "I hate mage" post but ends up being a love post for deck of lunacy. LowsodiumMage I guess
Well, in the title of the thread he's asking if people hate mage. That's an open invitation for people to, you know, answer the question. Given that Deck of Lunacy is the most random card mage has, it's obviously relevant.
Currently, spell mage is only somewhat random: Primordial Studies and Font of Power are only quasi-random, given their limited card pool. The only truly random cards are Netherwind Portal and Apexis Blast. So you're really only talking about 3-4 cards out of a deck of 30.
As for Deck of Lunacy, it is a complete random-fest. I play that deck periodically, usually when I just feel like seeing what craziness it'll give me. Some games I utterly wipe the floor with my opponent, but many more are a bloodbath the other direction: I get a bunch of garbage spells that are utterly unusable but which clog my hand. In my view, it's not a serious ladder deck: it's just goofy.
Mage is fine and deck of lunacy is more a meme than it isn’t. The deck is better with its initial gameplan as opposed to potentially drawing meh stuff.
But, if you really hate it that much, just play one of the otk decks running about, or anything weapon related. Poison rogue also absolutely clip claps it.
About the only problem I have with mage is how long some of their turns can take. They're like over there playing solitaire with about a million cards, none of which seem very threatening, but it's just boring af waiting for them to finish.
DoL is a bad card because is legendary, you build a deck around a card and don't have any search or tutor for it other than hard mulligan for it, the problem is you see that time when opponent play the spell coined in the first turn, what you don't see is the games when the card don't was draw or played too late.
My issue why mage is not that it's good. It has good decks and Deck of Lunacy is not one of them. But I just feel that when someone plays that card, all fun goes out the window for your opponent. Either you high roll and the game is boring because you instantly win, or you low roll and pretty much instantly lose, which is also boring for your opponent. Also, Jandice Barov is also very random and very polarizing, I realize that Rogues play this card more than mages do, but it doesn't change the fact that this card is still able to be generated off of Font of Power and can win some games by itself if you are lucky enough. Basically, my issue with mage is not that I can't beat it, it's just that it feels like it involves no skill to beat and is very VERY boring to play against.
Oh, you're not the only one that's for sure. I literally complain about Mage in the salt thread all the time because I tend to lose to them very often due to soul crushing RNG. Power of Creation was my most hated card and I'm glad it's gone, plus the RNG from mage has toned down at least a little bit and no more Sorcerer's Apprentice shenanigans. The only time I ever liked to play a deck by the class was a homebrew Control Mage deck to counter Ress Priest and Tip the Scales Paladin in the previous meta, but before that was when Frost Lich Jaina came out.
It's not about the Mage herself, but rather about how Hearthstone has always been designed. It seems that when Team 5 is creating a card or deck, they only consider its user experience, but not the opponent's. So the real issue has nothing to do with actual power level (not always at least), yet can be extremely frustrating and repulsive.

I think you misunderstood me.. I genuinely liked that it wasn't a salt thread but instead people praised a crazy card.

I crafted Deck of Lunacy on day 1 of DMF and I'm not even ashamed of it.
All of the RNG hate threads don't make sense to me anymore when you literally have an entire format of play that throws out basically 100% of those mechanics. You even get your pre-nerf whatever the fuck you want also.
Would be interesting to see what turn 2 deck of lunacy does to the win rate all around. Obviously, it has potential to create unbeatable tempo advantage, but it also has the possibility to create a lot of nothing and destroy any coherence in the cards in your deck. Not sure what ends up being the better deal more often.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.

No, I like mage. And 90% of the time I will jam Deck of Lunacy on turn 2 and try to have a good time. Because random can be fun!
But unlike the people you play against (apparently), I often roll into spells that don't benefit me and I end up losing the game (or just barely win).
So, it's a give and take.
Deck of lunacy is an amazing card.
such salt much BM.
Love deck of lunacy.
I hate every 'magic' class
But the order of hate , for me, is
Priest
Warlock
Mage
lol dude, a lot of mage players here.
I hate Mage too btw.

I didn't liked this class from the beginning of HS. And it all started with Flamestrike hate, lol))

Resurrect Priest, Raza Priest, Miracle Rogue, Aggro Rogue, Quest Rogue (any Rogue?), Freeze Mage, No Spell Mage, Secret Mage, Secret Paladin, Even Paladin, Pen Paladin, Murloc Paladin, Face Hunter, Secret Hunter, Deathknight Hunter, Aggro Demon Hunter, OTK Demon Hunter, Tickatus Warlock, Cube Lock, Reno Lock, Evolve Shaman, Galakrond Shaman, Shudderwock Shaman, Jade Druid, Ramp Druid, Clown Druid, Mech Warrior, Patron Warrior, Pirate Warrior and so on.
Until Blizzard changes its approach and starts designing "game experience" for BOTH players, such complaints (and forum topics) will never end.
