well, people post very often that they do not like to lose to rdm. But its just not true that deck of lunacy is really rdm. There are very few cards at that high mana cost and if you make your spells cheaper twice your deck of lunacy gets worse. So if you think about it its not very rdm at all and you will see very similiar results different games.
This folks, this.
People complaining about the randomness of Deck of Lunacy are missing the point. It's not problematic because it's random. it's problematic because it was supposed to be random, and it became consistent after rotation.
Mage have (at least) 4 7+ mana spells
there are only 2 10 Mana cost spell : Nagrand Slam and Survival of the fittest.
Thus Mage has a 50% chance of each card turning into 7 mana Nagrand Slam (which might get discounted once again), and a ... 6,25% of at least one of those becoming a 7 mana Nagrand Slam. at this point it's not random anymore
Let's check the 6 mana spell pool now:
Skull of Gul'dan Nourish Runic Carvings Initiation Sprint Hand of Guldan Deck of Chaos
4/7 of those are card draws... above 50% odds of drawing at least 3 cards.
Mage usualy have 5 or 6 3 mana spells (combustion, arcane intellect, and usualy 1 or 2 secret)
which increase the odds of drawing a copy (or more) of Nagrand Slam... which usualy wins the game as 7 mana summon 4 3/5 with charge is ridiculous to deal with for most classes.
But even the other options are decent/good except deck of Chaos.
The spell pool is just too good now that the bad cards have been moved to wild. The odds of getting a bad outcome out of lunacy are just extremely low.
Don't be that person who generalises people based on what class they play on a digital card game. It's beyond ridiculous and I actually worry for people who think this way, what other things do they do this with? If you are someone who can judge a stranger because the mage portrait pops up when a match starts, you must do it a lot in other areas of life.
It's an embarrassingly ignorant mind set.
Sorry, I don't know what these people are like in real life but I know myself and when I play I do not suddenly become an asshole and disrespect my opponent. I always try to be fair in my gameplay. I also avoid emote abuse if I am not provoked.
So I repeat I don't know these people but forgive me please if I do have some doubts about the psychology of these people...
Rolled into 3 straight no-minion mages. That deck is disgusting. The value, the cost reduction. Plus I was bursted down by freeze effects in all three. 20+ damage for less than 5 mana.
When are the delete mage memes going to start? Its time for a new class to get calls for being deleted.
Mage isnt the problem. The problem is after the rotation most of the bad spells and minions rotated to wild so discover effects are busted and DoL is something like discover and thats why this is so good. Its not the class as whole. DH had really op core and every deck that came from that core was very decent. Mage is OK in that.
As bad as Deck of Lunacy is, I think Refreshing Spring Water is the most overpowered card in the Barrens set. Drawing 2 cards for 0 mana should never have been created. Turn 4 is usually the turn you want to refill your hand too. They could change the refresh effect to just 1 crystal per spell drawn, and it would still be stronger than Arcane Intellect if people want more card draw. As it is, this is auto-include in every Mage deck. That is a problem.
Guys they already announced nerfs for lunacy mage next week.
Enjoy this deck for the next couple days
source?
Iksar tweeted that he doesn't like DoL Mage being competitive and they will have a meeting on Monday to discuss balance change. It is very likely that DoL will be nerfed to 3 mana.
3 mana doens't change anything, they need to change it to 5 or 4 at least.
If it is on me, I would delete the card. Blizzard will probably nerf it to 3 mana.

Nobody cares about it being random or not. It shouldn't be a viable card at its current mana cost.
I remember when Galakrond Shaman was nerfed after a day for being oppressive. This Spring Water Lunacy Mage is way worse. Pity they are only going to "discuss" nerfs tomorrow, fuck knows when they will actually happen.
After playing around 150 games since the new expansion I can confidently say that anyone who plays mage is likely to go to the deepest darkest pocket of hell. Only the most retarded noobs pick up the class, play deck of lunacy on turn two and then play mask of cthun and nagrand slam every other turn and act like they deserve to win. I used to like mage before this expansion, but now I'm certain anyone who plays it has no skill to play other real non-rng classes that require thinking. Paladin may be harder to win against, but it actually needs you to use your brain a little. It's times like this that highlight how many of the hearthstone players have some form of severe autism.
I like how this thread is a "I hate mage" post but ends up being a love post for deck of lunacy. LowsodiumMage I guess
Well, in the title of the thread he's asking if people hate mage. That's an open invitation for people to, you know, answer the question. Given that Deck of Lunacy is the most random card mage has, it's obviously relevant.
Currently, spell mage is only somewhat random: Primordial Studies and Font of Power are only quasi-random, given their limited card pool. The only truly random cards are Netherwind Portal and Apexis Blast. So you're really only talking about 3-4 cards out of a deck of 30.
As for Deck of Lunacy, it is a complete random-fest. I play that deck periodically, usually when I just feel like seeing what craziness it'll give me. Some games I utterly wipe the floor with my opponent, but many more are a bloodbath the other direction: I get a bunch of garbage spells that are utterly unusable but which clog my hand. In my view, it's not a serious ladder deck: it's just goofy.
Problem is exactly the opposite. Deck of Lunacy is no more the most random card mage has. Problem is his actual consistency. Low rolls are extremely unlikely accross the whole available mana spectrum and this just doesn't feel right for a card costing only 2 mana, meaning a close-to-non-existant tempo loss. Rember Luna's Pocket Galaxy? It costed 7 mana. Add to the mix the new ridiculous draw engine...

It’s actually embarrassing that they believed Refreshing Spring Water was worthy of testing, nevermind actually releasing the card.
I'm going to stop playing until mage is nerfed. I am D5 now and it is impossible to go further. Thanks Blizzard
Give every class a 0-mana, draw 2 card. Until then, GG mage.
This card is literally the only thing keeping mage afloat. If they nerf it and lunacy the mage class drops to the bottom.

Public hanging for all mage players 👏👏
Love poisoning them with my rogue, 12-3 right now =)

Hey loser! It wasn't meeee!
this is the most annoying thing in HS atm. Not random Mage.
