So I have 3 Grommash. The old one from the basic set and the 2 new ones that have appeared and are in the core set.
I disenchanted the old one and got 400 dust.
My question is:
Since I disenchanted him, in the future, once the core set changes again, lets say Grommash isnt there, do I need to remake him to play him or do the "new" core Grommash stay with me?
"Unlike how Basic and Classic functioned previously, the Core Set will be refreshed each year. At the end of every (Hearthstone) year, a new Core Set will take the place of the previous, comprised of new and existing cards. When that happens, the Core Set cards that are rotating will be swapped with new ones in your Collection automatically."
Using the above example, I read that to mean that when the Core set refreshes in a year, the current Core version would be left in your collection, so you'd have two. Which therefore means that you could dust the non-core version of Grommash and not lose out.
If I look for "Execute" in my collection, I have 8 copies. 4 golden, 4 non-golden. I think we can all agree that this is too many copies. :) My inclination was to dust the extra non-core copies, as well as my duplicate Cruel Taskmasters, Slams and all the rest. However if I lose the Core cards when they cycle out of Core, that would be a mistake. In the meantime, my previously beautifully curated collection is now a blooming mess. #firstworldproblems
Exactly, unless there is a confirmation by Blizzard that we do not lose the cards in the next rotation, I think it is wise to not dust anything yet.
Unless you got a refund like they are doing with Ysera.
Even if that were the case, I'm not patient enough to go and craft the 82,000 cards that I would've dusted. :) I'll just wait for things to become more clear.
I do not agree with your interpretation of the text. Mine is the following:
"[...] When that happens, the Core Set cards that are rotating will be swapped with new ones in your Collection automatically."
Applied to the current situation, you have 2 Grommash in your inventory (1: Core Set, 2: not Core Set). Options:;
You do not disenchant Grommash 2. When "that happens" (rotation next year), Core Sets rotating (Grommash 1) will be swapped with new ones in your collection. That "with new ones in your collection" refers to Core Set (the new Core Set next year), so Grommash 1 will be swapped for the new Core Set card that fills his place. Grommash 2, will stay in your collection since its yours, you did not disenchant him.
Same as previous but when Core Set rotates, you will no longer have Grommash, so you will need to recraft him if you want to use it (in Wild/Classic).
Proof
If you go to collection, create a Standard deck with Grommash in it. Grommash is Uncraftable, right? Create now a Classic deck and include Grommash. This Grommash IS craftable/uncraftable. If the Core Set Grommash rotates, you will have the other one, whether created or not depending on your collection.
Another proof: attached image. You can clearly see the watermark of the cards: Classic and Core Set. If Core Set dissappears next year, you will be left with the Classic one, whether you have ir or not.
TL;DR: You lose the "duplicate" Core Set cards then Core Set rotates next year if you disenchant them now.
It is a bit confusing. Even trying to find the cards to SEE if you own them in the first place. The best way I could see what I have is to turn on the crafting button and type in the search bar what you want, ex: epic, rare, golden.

I hope this made sense.
You need to remake him if you want him as long as he isn't in the core set in the future.
You face Jaraxxus, Eredar lord of the... sacrificial pact
OK so that majorly sucks
why it sucks? if you not gonna play classic it not matter to you if you lose it or not...
Because in the 2022 rotation, if Grommash is not in the Core set, and i want to play him, i have to remake him.
I was just coming on to ask this exact question.
