So I was talking to a friend of mine today, and it got me thinking with all the big changes coming tomorrow, what are my favorite cards in hearthstone's history? So I was going to share my Top 3 and the reasons why I love them so much. I had golden versions of all of them because the art was really cool!
My #1 is somewhat of an oddball, but for me, it was a card I played with for almost all of the 1000 win grind on druid. And it's Genzo, the Shark. I played a lot of aggro druid to 1000 wins and it was so fun because it was a card that was rarely used. The pure moment of me and my friend laughing as we saw people hover over the card and read what it did was great. It was never a meta card, but I love the art and it was a pretty cool effect for a deck that otherwise could run out of gas easily.
My #2 is a little more conventional choice for a favorite card, Dr. Boom, this was one of my very first legendary cards when I started playing hearthstone and it was cool that it could be used in any deck almost and succeed. I know a lot of people hated it because it was strong but for me it is one of the coolest effects and also has awesome card art.
My #3 is another card people might not like much because it was in a S/A Tier deck at the time. Shadowreaper Anduin was the staple of highlander priest combined with Raza the Chained and cheap spells. Highlander priest was a deck that did crazy burst damage very quickly with the cheap spells and was very difficult to beat, and it remains one of my favorite wild decks today. This one I like the most because it was the first deck I used to hit legend, and for me that was pretty cool.
Sorry for the long post, I was just curious what some other people's favorite cards are and why with the Forged in the Barrens and big changes on the horizon. If this is something that gets posted a lot, I also apologize.
Started the game with the idea of building some kind of mage using the freeze effect, without knowing the existence of freeze mage yet. When I finally was able to build a correct deck and discovered the combo Frost Nova + Doomsayer, I instantly fell in love with Doomsayer !
The fact that it's so powerful and yet so fragile, that when it works it gives you a full turn to develop your strategy, the satisfaction when your opponent can't deal with it, and also the very early game anti aggro tools it represented for a lot of control decks, because of that Doomsayer remains my favourite card I'd say !
I quickly browsed through my collection and here are my favorite cards :
legendary :
Lakkari Sacrifice. I've always been a huge enthusiast for this card, played it a LOT, long before it was cool, when everyone memed it to death and said it was the worst card in the game.
N'Zoth, the Corruptor. One of the first huge payoff cards that required you to build your deck in a very specific way, thanks to the wild format is now playable by every class and I love it. Also one of my favorite golden animations.
Anomalus. I know this is a bad card but I always loved to clear the board and get all my health back with Frost Lich Jaina, and it's a very unique card for mage.
Skull of the Man'ari. Incredibly powerful card that enables so much fun for control warlock, incredibly underrated during the reveal season very few people noticed how powerful it would become.
And many more. It's like Pokemon there's so many of them it's impossible to have a few favorites.
Epics :
Dinomancy. One day I will make this work please Blizzard print a 1 mana spell tutor for hunters.
Tree of Life. old school reno with magnificent golden art. Nearly unplayable these days but I can never disenchant this.
Grand Archivist. endless deck building possibilities with this card, I wish it wasn't so late on the curve.
Oof, hard to say. So many great cards over the years. Some in style, some in power, some in plain genius design.
If I had to pick one I will pick Open the Waygate as it was such a unique card that allowed for a very powerful (though not so easy to pull off) effect that was never seen before at the time. It also allowed for what is perhaps my all time favourite deck, the "Exodia" Mage with Antonidas and infinite fireballs.
I could go on and on regarding certain cards, and my fascination with them so I'll keep it short.. My top five legendaries have to be: 1.Lyra the Sunshard
My favorite card of more recent times is Armor Vendor. Though might seem boring on the surface, it lets me play slower rogue decks so much more easily and with as many bounce and shuffle effects that rogue has, I’ve had games where I gained 80+ armor from this girl.
Glad to see a positive thread! It'll be pretty hard for me to narrow down to 1, so I'll do like a top whatever and see where I end up.
Swamp King Dred is a card I couldn't believe was bad when it first got announced. A hugely over-statted dinosaur that automatically attacked minions? That's awesome! And it is awesome! It may not be good, but it's so badass and flavorful. Not only that, but I believe that it was the card that inspired future Hunter design to be "fight" related.
On that note, Wild Bloodstinger is a really sick card. Hunter getting hand hate in the form of FIGHTING was so cool, and Bloodstinger was yet another over-statted beast that just wrecked. When it pulled a little dork minion and was still huge, it could be really hard to deal with while minusing your opponent in advantage. What a cool design.
To My Side! is the most unique Hunter card ever printed, absolutely shattering deck-building conventions for the class just by existing. No minions in Hunter? Ridiculous! But it was awesome, creating the first of its kind in no-minion decks and being an incredibly powerful and flavorful payoff for the archetype in Hunter. Out of all Hunter deck concepts, this is the one I want to come back to the most.
And finally, so I don't ramble forever about Hunter, we have Tavish Stormpike - who isn't even out yet. Tavish generates advantage for Hunter in the most Hunter way I've ever seen, attacking with Beasts to summon YET MORE BEASTS, and the ones you summon aren't completely random, since they come out of your deck. This creates such interesting deck building routes to take, since you can try and build a deck that chains Tavish triggers like crazy, or just include Tavish in a deck with a decent Beast curve so you can enjoy some occasional value. Such a cool design, I'm on the edge of my seat to see where Tavish goes in the future.
Spellslinger for me. The 3/4 stat line is solid. love that it has an element of randomness that also maintains a sense of balance. I haven’t played with it in probably four years. This is making me nostalgic for a real casino deck.
Okay, I might have quite a few favorites, so I'll try to keep it short.
The aboslute 1# is Dreadsteed, I remember this card fondly, in fact I was obsessed with it around 2015/2016, it could be used in both Control and Zoo decks as a trading tool (very good when combined with Knife Juggler) and I think it's just a very well designed card (and it could actually make Anima Golem stay alive), it's a shame that it can't really see realistic play anymore because of Bloodreaver Gul'dan and Defile (the card was nerfed because of the interaction with this spell).
2# is Lord Jaraxxus, the ultimate late game bomb who's finally getting a rework this year, so I'm looking forward to finally being able to play him in modern HS games, you just feel so empowered playing him, more than any other Hero Card.
Spot 3# goes to the not anymore one and only Dr. Boom. This one I'll admit is just for the sake of nostalgia, back when I started playing he was THE must craft card, probably one of the most powerful 'Curvestone' cards ever.
For 4# I'm choosing Reno Jackson, the existence of this card and the archetype it spawned is a testament to all around good design and good deckbuilding, the reward was absolutely insane (and still is in wild).
And finally, as the 5# I have Call of the Wild, my absolute favorite spell in the game, the card captures the feel of Midrange Hunter, one of my favorite decks of all time, and the flavor is amazing.
Honorable mentions: Defender of Argus for being the first ever rare I got when I openend my very first pack, Nozdormu for being my first ever legendary (and actually fun to play when your opponent isn't expecting it), Shade of Naxxramas for looking way too cool and rewarding patience, Piloted Shredder for basically the same reasons as Dr. Balanced, Vilefin Inquisitor, because Silver Hand Murlocs are way too cute and Drakonid Operative for making me want to play priest for once.
As you can see, most of the cards are from the TGT-WOTOG era, which is basically when I started and suddenly stopped for about 4 years, so I might be a little bit biased.
Glad to see a positive thread! It'll be pretty hard for me to narrow down to 1, so I'll do like a top whatever and see where I end up.

I love playing hunter.. I have a really really good feeling about Tavish Stormpike as well
As a main rogue, i have to say Quest Rogue the ultimate troll that for some reason keeps coming back, Leching poison that made Kingsbane a control deck for the first time, not this lame aggro that we have now, and totally my number 3 pick is Lunas Poket Galaxy who at 5 mana broke highlander Mage in standard&wild and was nerfed very quickly.
This just has me thinking how many great cards have been in Hearthstones history. Thanks for the replies, I really like reading what everyone likes and why.

Eternal Sentinel. One day my friend...
Embrace the Shadow. I disenchanted you and will never forgive myself for it.
And who cares about rares and commons my post is already too long, I love Tunnel Trogg and Fel Cannon though.
Oof, hard to say. So many great cards over the years. Some in style, some in power, some in plain genius design.

Tess for myself. The burgle rogue theme is my go to when I want to have fun.
such salt much BM.
I could go on and on regarding certain cards, and my fascination with them so I'll keep it short.. My top five legendaries have to be:
1.Lyra the Sunshard
2.Dragonbane
3.Bloodmage Thalnos
4.Aluneth
5.Archmage Arugal
Easily Elise the Trailblazer and Confessor Paletress, both included in my Reno inspire priest. Also Frost Lich Jaina.
Non legendary goes for Doomsayer. In my opinion one of the best designed cards ever.
Defile It was just so satisfying, and required thought on both players’ part. Just a flawlessly designed hearthstone card.
Stonehill Defender I am so excited for the new scorpion for the same reason I loved this card. It just felt so so good to have in hand and play.
As a mill rogue main, gotta go with Coldlight Oracle for enabling my shenanigans.
Really enjoy Deathrattle stuff as well so N'Zoth, the Corruptor is a baller.
My favorite card of more recent times is Armor Vendor. Though might seem boring on the surface, it lets me play slower rogue decks so much more easily and with as many bounce and shuffle effects that rogue has, I’ve had games where I gained 80+ armor from this girl.
My favorite card is the one that wins me the game
Leeroy Jenkins
my top 5 of all time:
Dark Iron Skulker
Iron Sensei
Captain Hooktusk
Patches the Pirate
Prince Keleseth
Glad to see a positive thread! It'll be pretty hard for me to narrow down to 1, so I'll do like a top whatever and see where I end up.
