Op, this is most likely a balance matter.
Are we really going to let this slide...a balance issue?
Do thematics not matter at all? Ok in that case from now on Holy Wrath and Holy Fire are ICE CREAM SANDWICH spells.
Honestly, IMO Blizzard has been really pathetic on this. I never evcen considered they would mislabel spells so badly, to the point of it being stuipid even having spell types at all. This was an oppotunity to add flavour to the game that actually made sense. Seriously if you can't make the spells fit better into categories than this don't fucking bother and leave it as it is.
...I actually can't believe they messed this up. It seemed so simple.
They do matter hence why they introduced spell schools. But balance has to be the top priority, you know that.

Come on 95% of spell have the right spell school, they didn't mess this up, it absolutely added flavour to the game.

Why the exaggeration ? Are you really that bothered that 2 holy spells that go face and can potentially cause game breaking issues with the wrong synergy didn't get the holy tag ?
And that some demon spells didn't get the fel tag ? Most demons use fire and shadow magic as well, it still fits the theme, it's not like they gave them the nature of frost tag, or you know, the ice cream sandwich tag, because thematics matter ;)
Everyone in their right mind new that spell schools were targeting the future of hearthstone and would cause some issues with cards from the past, to be honest I expected a LOT more old spells to get the wrong tag or no tag, they did a very good job.

Your language and tone is just ridiculously over the top, given what we're discussing.
It seems impossible to discuss this game with a majority of the community because you have to go in SO hard on blowing up what are minor issues in the bigger picture.
This place doesn't half get incredibly dramatic about tiny things. Must be nice to have so few actual life problems that it can afford to be such a huge deal.
Like, it's a game, can people just take it a little less seriously? You all act like this is actual life stuff, which plenty of other people are far too affected by to be sitting online and complaining about a few spell schools.... Its funny how it's always the people who hate the game and claim Blizzard are awful etc that seem so damned passionate about it. I've had people call me a fan boy and all sorts, nah mate, I just don't get that bothered about superficial little things in mobile games. I accept that people are fallible and that ultimately, if I don't enjoy my time with the game or don't like the direction it's going, I'm free to do absolutely anything else with my time.
Any reason it's got you typing in bold, swearing and ranting? Like, really? Can you not express yourself in a slightly calmer, more reasonable manner? You're swearing and calling people pathetic.
As for the OP, I'd imagine it has to do with certain interactions such as 'when you play X card, do Y' and certain combinations etc might be an issue.
If it is still an accurate criticism, why would folks change their tunes?
Folks are frustrated by Blizzard's consistent inability to offer high quality products despite the amount of resources they have available to them, just because you are satisfied with what you are being offered that does not make the opinions of others invalid.
I think it is a combination of balance and certain spells being ambiguous. It's often impossible to have clearly defined boundaries on definitions that don't inevitably get blurred by outliers. In other words, a card like Demonfire could both theoretically be fel and fire. There are better examples than that, but im not going to dig through all the spells to make my point.

Where as you get worked up by people talking about said games in a online forum, and start complaining about the complaining? I bring a little fire and salt to my posts on hearthpwn usually. Don't get your panties in such a twist, it's not like it was directed at you.
The change was made to improve thematics. On that basis having a spell like Holy Wrath not in the Holy set of spells isn't great. Its one of many possible examples, there are loads, open up your card collection and look. My reaction remains the same, why fucking bother if they can't get it more right than this?

Nah he was right.. you're acting wild for no reason. Kind of seems attention seeking imo. Odd way to act over something so small. "This is how I post here" doesn't give you a pass to freak the fuck out and expect no pushback lol really?
could have been some balance thing honestly, Im sure we can see the inclusion and omission of spell schools as potential soft-buffs/nerfs in the future.

I never said that - Feel free to pushback all you like. Thematics matter to me in card games, like the art matters. For some it is irrelevant, I get that, they only care about power levels, balance and competing. I am not one of them and its obviously easier to do a better job with this change than they have, which is piss-poor IMO.
Also note that many uncollectible spells have schools too. Like the Ray of Roasting and The Stars Align, which appear literally nowhere except a couple of Boomsday puzzles.

Why are cards like Demonfire and Demonfuse Fel, but Bloodfury Potion or Demonheart are Shadow...?
And why has Fiendish Rites no Spell School?
Or why is Rafaam's Scheme a Fire spell...?
I don't really get it...
I noticed that too.
Deck of wonders, Mask of c'thun also dont have spell schools.

Yeah and Holy Fire isn't a Holy and a Fire spell. :(
And Holy Wrath isn't holy neither

I don't want to be THAT guy, but... Balance? Hearthstone?
Sorry, couldn't resist. :P
Old god stuff like that should be shadow spells, as that is connected to the void like the old gods
