Now that we’ve seen the entire set, I need to voice an already growing concern of mine about control lock. I want to note that this is entirely speculative, but is based on information that we now have. Let’s begin.
Tikatus: Here’s the thing. The existence of this single card will solidify lock as the best control deck until he rotates. A bold statement, I know, but I 100% believe this. His existence completely ruins any other control deck’s chances of winning the matchup. The single best hope another control deck has is that he is the bottom card of the lock’s deck, and that he doesn’t get tutored out.
Jaxxus (New Version): People got really excited about this, because our lord and savior jaraxxus is not only viable now, but is actually good. Here’s the thing though. As good as he is, he actually doesn’t do a better job against control decks (why you want him) than Tik does. You’ll run both, mainly because it gives you an alt win con if you don’t get Tik, and he is a good card that corrupts Tik. Jaraxxus furthers the matchup against control for warlock, making it even more unwinnable for other control players. Sorry other control decks, but it’s gonna be lock or bust. (Also, and extra RIP and poor one out for priest here).
So this first portion highlights my first concern in that other control decks won’t be able to exist because of lock, but now let’s move onto an even bigger issue.
Survivability against aggro/tempo.
So now that control is out, we’re left to hope that the aggro/midrange decks can keep lock at bay. But I have concerns here as well. Lock has been given an ABSOLUTELY INSANE core set to deal with this issue. They’ve been given so much healing that their issue of self harm is going to easily be bandaged by their access to self healing. The new 3 mana 2/4 taunt (forget name) with deathrattle heal 4 will also be just beyond insane in lock.
I foresee the standard control lock deck being jaraxxus, Tik, and then 28 board control/healing cards. And I don’t really see it being anything other than insane.
I could be wrong, I certainly hope I am, but I’m calling it now. Control lock is going to be the deck to beat and it’s gonna require a ton of build around to get there.
i dont belive is going to be "the deck to beat" control deck rarely get that place. Like you can imagine this being the best control deck going into value town and you are maybe not wrong in that because they still have their Prime generator. But that said i dont belive the next iteration of control deck are keep going for infinite value build. Galakron era is over for control. The Galakron package rotates. Which means that there is not more reason for Priest (for example) to keep going into high Ultra controllish builds without a finishing blow plan. I belive the New control decks are going to be more like Corrup Priest right now. Still going into late game but with Y´shaarj and a lot of big hard hitters trying to actually close the game. Which indirectly makes Ticketus actually worse.
Why? Because there is not reason for just stalling anymore. All the quest package? gone, Zephrys (finally) gone, Mage loses "puff". In priest most of the ultra lategam pay-up is gone: Infiltrator, Vargoth, plague of death? gone, Reborn cards? no more of those, no more Mass Resurrection. Is not crazy to said that big cards like Skeletal Dragon come back to be include just because dragons are usually big and hit hard even in late game. Maybe stuff like Headmaster Kel Thuzad can find a place in some decks because there is more one-sided AoE removal now.
Aslo Warlock loses stuff like Plague of Flames and Dark Skies. Both top tier board control tool for midgame and some late game.
Yup, I'm planning on playing control lock this expansion. Screw Priest. They have nothing I want to play. Lock at least has some fun cards.
I'm not sure how good it will be, I don't have a ton of success with my Tickatus deck right now. But, maybe the competition will be a little worse after rotation.

It’s what they’re gaining in the core set that’s going to push it into massive viability, in combination with little rotating out that hurts it.
It's interesting how certain archetypes die off and come back several expansions later, take Big Warrior for example. I can only assume that the devs have missed a Control Lock type of deck and tried to push it through once more.
It is pointless to have a Control battle vs controlock at the moment, esp after we know all new expasion card. Warrior and Priest while have some good cards, doesnt have any sort of solid wincondition other than Cthun and fatigue, which both destroy easy by by Tickakus

This is exactly my point. Its going to take A LOT for other control decks to beat Tik/jaraxxus.
Warlock will be the best control deck in standard for sure.
But it won't be top tier as long as Rogue and DH have the non-interactive archetypes they currently use, so control lock is rather going to be a tier 2 deck. Just my prediction
When was the last time a single combo deck (yes, TickLock is lesser version of combo deck) pushed all the control decks out of the meta? Never? Why would it happen this time then?
Also, Warlock is going to lose many of his removals after rotation, so he will be still pretty vaunrable to aggro (especially those based on unblockable damage from spells and weapons).
If controllock is going to be tier 1 (which is possible IMO), then Neeru Fireblade is going to see play as a tech card in the mirror match. I mean normally you just hope that you drop Tickatus first and burn your opponents one. But if your opponent has better luck finding Tickatus you are screwed... Unless you have a plan B. Neeru's ability is basically 18 charge damage every turn, even if you take some fatigue damage, you can easily outrace your opponent.
I like how there is always one rotation where all classes lose their hero card that could generate infinite value, except for one class that then gets to dominate all the control v control matchups. With Tickatus and Jaraxxus, on top of things like nether and cascading disaster i don't see how a control warlock can ever lose to another control deck

Neeru summons the demons at the END of your turn, so if your opponent clears them you don't get to attack.

Where have you seen this? The wording suggests they refill on your opponent’s turn too.
EDIT: I’ve just read elsewhere that the portal says “End of your turn”. Seems like a wording error on the card.

I did some research myself, and it seems like its indeed a wording error. Now I have lost all my hopes about Neeru. It would have been nice to have an actual counterplay to Tickatus even if its in the same class.

I don't play aggro, but I can only hope that aggro curb stomps tickatus warlock so I don't have to play against that bs.
This is exactly my point. Its going to take A LOT for other control decks to beat Tik/jaraxxus.
Ok Controlock maybe the king of control decks, or more precisely the late game annihilator. I don't think that's bad.
AFAIR, even from beta, warlock decks that weren't zoo decks, struggled against aggro. Even with 28 boar clears/heals as you said.

the rotation and the bad cards from barrens screwed priest already over.
Don't worry, rogues will dominate everything.
