- Blizzard and Iksar hyping Shadow Priest for like 2 months for them to print a better Shadowform for Mage.
- Every class got a win condition or something cool this expansion. What did Priest get ? same old removal and healing for 6th expansion in a row. Ever since RoS, 2 years ago, Priest has only lost win conditions and didn't get a single one in return.
- The last time Blizzard intentionally printed a win-con for Priest was in KFT with Anduin.
Yeah it is kinda sad that priest gets 0 mana or 1 mana heal 5 every time - amazing, so now you have play 1 more round before you die (if you are lucky and you will not get 7 mana 10 - 12 damage to the face.
Hmm.. I wonder what the class identity is at the moment?
Deathrattles seems to be hunters and demonhunters..
Best healing.. well...
Rezz.. belongs to warrior now.
Spell generation: Practically any class can generate spells and cards as good as priests, so its not it.
Silence : Demonhunters
Stealing and messing with the decks?
It feels like they change direction for priest every time, and cant make up their mind of its classidentity..
I think it might be lack of carddraw and facedamage thats defining at the moment? That should be upweighed by some kind of strength, but i cant for my life find it..
Ofcourse you can always put together something that keeps you afloat with lots of neutral cards, but whats the classidentity?? Whats the wincondition?
Yeah, i wouldnt mind going back to a strong midrange dragon deck.
It looks like they want to focus on synergizing with healing effects for the identity. Really need a build around card as a payoff though. Something that can win games, not just put stats on the board.
A thought occurred to me a while back about this newest expansion and priest's identity within it.
All it would have taken was a slight change to the wording of the Frenzy keyword and this whole meta would have shifted HEAVILY in favor of midrange and control decks: instead of the first instance of damage, frenzy triggered every time it survived damage, not unlike Overkill from Rastakhan.
If that were the case, warrior and priest would be the kings of standard instead of in the dumpster. Warrior's self-damage, Priest's ever-present healing. Neutral healing could have risen to popularity, slowing the game and turning the focus to trades instead of face.

They want playing for board to be a thing again. Where Ysera and Alexstrasza and the Old Gods and Classic Legendaries ARE win conditions. It SORT of is right now. There's still some leftover stuff (Warlock to be specific) that kind of prevents playing for board in a meaningful way.

Im having a lot of fun with this one but it sure isn't tier 1 but it works

Galavant Animation
I think the Pain priest package with Flesh Giants got some nice tools this expansion. Devouring Plague reduces the cost of your giants by 4!

If only.
Not the most refined list, but this is what I've been running.
