I can’t decide whether to buy in or not. I’m not preordering, I don’t really want the tavern pass but I am getting some fomo about it, but then $20 and all you get is an extra pack on top the diamond
What you mean only an extra pack? I mean the tavern pass gives you a lot of cosmetics, the Diamond Samuro and the 20% boost to exp which depending on how much you play can represent a lot of gold. Like I didn't get this first pass and only made it to level 214 and will probably earn like 4-5 more levels on the following week. With that 20% boost I could've probably gotten like 50+ more levels, which represents 20-30 more packs on top of all the heros for multiple classes, another cosmetic coin and now the diamond Samuro. For me 20 packs, 3 skins (I know it's technically like 9 but reallistically it's just 3), a cool looking coin and a diamond card are well worth 20 bucks. Honestly just the 20 packs for 20 bucks is decent enough lol.
I never understand people’s fascination with cosmetics... it’s purely psychological “superiority” and nothing more.
“Hey look at me - I have a diamond card and you don’t” kind of thing. It’s the same with the coins and so on. The game experience is exactly the same even if you use the basic light blue card back.
And of course blizzard like many other game companies know that people want to feel superior than others and make the most out of it!
I'd me more inclined to agree if there weren't additional affects and animations that came with them. I like the gold cards but it's purely because of the animation. I don't craft them but I do like getting them in packs and having them dotted within decks. Some of the card graphics are particularly cool and give the card a different sort of feel to it than the regular version.
Could not give a monkeys about what the other person thinks. Maybe it's more of an inferiortiy complex on your part than it is a superiority complex on everyone else's?
I really like how golden cards look in this game, I use them not to show any kind of superiority (it's just pixel, just like the common ones), but because they look cool. If I had the choice to set both players to show only golden cards (without paying for it, or at least paying way less than I already pay to make my deck golden), I would do.
M0res is trolling, but there are some folks out there who actually think that way.
Was always strange, I drove a Firebird to college and someone would talk shit about sports cars being expensive toys while driving an SUV or a half-ton pickup truck with no passengers and no cargo. Some folks just have an issue with having different tastes.
And then there's me. I do love feeling better than other people, but the idea that I'd base that feeling on pixels is hilarious. I have a myriad of things to draw psychological superiority from, and none of them are cardboard or pixelated cardboard.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
