I never understand people’s fascination with cosmetics... it’s purely psychological “superiority” and nothing more.
“Hey look at me - I have a diamond card and you don’t” kind of thing. It’s the same with the coins and so on. The game experience is exactly the same even if you use the basic light blue card back.
And of course blizzard like many other game companies know that people want to feel superior than others and make the most out of it!
I mean, the idea itself isn't bad, but the fact one will always be hidden behind a paywall doesn't sit too well with me personally...
But this does mean the end of uncraftable goldens, so... HOOORAY!
It might not necessarily “always” be behind a paywall. Certain hero skins were thought to be locked behind a paywall, but they just recently re-released a skin to be purchasable with gold. Same could happen with diamond cards
I think this is great, if the devs get their money from cosmetics that means they'll make cards more affordable, I literally don't see any downside to this
I think it;s cool, but I'm glad they are limiting it to only a few. I think having these 3D graphical cards on the board might get a little distracting if there's a constant stream of them. So having only 2 now and undoubtedly a few more in future expansions is probably enough to have some eye candy without it becoming too much.
The upside to this is that these cards are probably really labor intensive to make (cause 3D and not just 2D image with some effects on it) so I doubt Blizzard will ever produce more than a handful for every expansion. Which is good, cause that means they both stay special and don't become a clusterfuck of moving images on the board.
So, yeah, I'm on board with this. I like them.

Not at all... sure it might not affect actual gameplay, but it's visually more interesting and makes the game more fun overall. Its a graphical update. "The game is experience is exactly the same if you have good graphics or bad graphics"- said nobody ever.
I'm a fan of these updates. I think it's cool.
exactly. people need to get rid of the negative thoughts like cosmetics being all about showing off. I think it is important to focus on the fun and artistic side of these golden/diamond cards.
See I'm ok with this seeing as they are trying to make the basic game experience cheaper. Essentially customiseable characters. Plus I think people don't mind paying for cosmetics because they feel their getting the game for cheap.
Well, I'd much rather the game do the bulk of its monetization through cosmetics while letting F2P earn cards more easily through regular play. That's how Legends of Runeterra handles things, more or less.
I just want playable cards, they don't need to look pretty. The rewards track was a bit iffy at first, but after the changes they made, and completing it, I feel like it's definitely been more lucrative than the past questing system was. However, it's still really hard to get all the epics and legendaries you need to play a variety of meta decks, which is a problem.
If they can make it a bit easier for everyone to get playable cards, with the trade off being that some people can spend extra money for fancier versions of cards, I'd be perfectly okay with that.
I'm more annoyed at the requirement that you have to get every single legendary in order to get the diamond card. I opened about 150 packs for the last expansion and still don't have all the legendaries. You have to spend $200+ I bet in order to get them all.

Yes, and? Cosmetics are LITERALLY made so people can feel better while playing the game without making them actually better, it keeps things both fair AND fresh, I don't see the problem with it nor the reason behind your criticism.

What are your thoughts on the newly announced diamond cards?

Lmao if diamond cards are distracting the game is actually pay2win haha
İt's just cosmetic things and it's not necessary so the news good for me.
Imagine if every card in the game could be crafted in Diamond now. With 4 times the crafting cost of golden cards.

From the two they have shown, they are an absolute eyesore.
Very nasty looking, and this is from someone who loves golden cards.
I am glad they will only release a few each expansion.
Cool sign me up
Absolutey this.

I much prefer that blizzard monetizes the game through cosmetics.
