I just wanted to check how you think about the expansion so far?
Are you willing to buy it or are you going to pass? I seriously have doubts so far, because i get some Rastakhan's Rumble vibes with this one. I usually buy all the expansions, but i don't like the new (Druid again) skin and most of the legendaries don't catch my eyes neither.
Personally, only very little cards have spoke to me so far... I am mostly a wild player so new releases don't really excite me like they used to. I will still buy the larger preorder and craft mostly of what I need. I am more excited about classic then anything. I don't play much of HS but I am definitely getting to legend this upcoming season in the new mode!
The first expansion of a year/season is ALWAYS the best one to buy in general due to the fact those cards will be valid for 24 months, whereas the second set is approximately 20 and the final set approximately 16 months.
That said, with all the changes to Core and the likely bump in users due to both the usual post-expansion increase as well as the definite buzz I've seen elsewhere for Core changes, it might be even better than a usual year to buy it.
My wife and I always get the big pre-order and then use gold for packs. Due to the battle pass being FAR more generous than it was originally portrayed to be, I have well over 10k gold and she has 6k gold. I'm level 205 and many days just play a couple of games.
To me, the preorder is a good value with just the packs and the pass. I would have to buy the BG pass anyway, so I can deduct that straight from the preorder cost. The 2 golden legendaries and the golden packs are definitely in-game values (even if they are all dusted). I always take the hero skin as completely extra, take it or leave it. I never care what skin it is.
Good luck out there and let's hope for a smooth launch!
I got my Biden Bucks (Despite it being 600 less than what was promised) I went and just bought both bundles (which was 103 bucks with amazon coins) and invested the rest in crypto so I get my 2000 one way or another. It'll probably get me 90% of the purples and 75% of the legends.
Sigh, I am tired of saying “don’t buy” and explaining how customers aren’t responsible for the game’s longevity and the developers livelihood and salaries. If the game dies because people don’t buy then the game dies and thats it. It dies because of greedy monetization scheme.
Of course don’t buy it. Did you even stop and evaluate what you are “buying” and questioned if it is worth the price they put on it?
Lets say they introduce “buying” a specific card and you “bought” Alextraza. Then, a week later they changed or nerfed the card you “bought”. Now did you “buy” anything really? Did you own that card? Can you even bring the issue in court? Most likely no, because you paid to have access to the card(s) and not own them.
”People are free to spend their money however they want” this statement isn’t all true unfortunately. People spendings steer the market. If a seller sells a blue car for $100 and a green car for $10000, people going to buy the blue car. The seller will “see” that there isn’t a huge demand on the green car so will manufacture it less and less until it disappear from the market. Same with games, if people are buying and accepting lootboxes more and more then why go back to old unprofitable systems? People are perfectly happy to shoot themselves in the foot.
Look at what you made me do, rambling first thing in the morning. Just stop buying lootboxes and packs please. Don’t even give me excuses like “I work 24hr shift and I have 50 kids to feed”.
I bought it although I had my reservations this time.
I think this will be the last one I buy though.
I have a complete standard collection but the meta is so boring with the same 10 decks throughout the year that I never really play constructed any more. Once a new release or mini expansion is out, the copying and pasting starts and within 2 days you face the same 5-10 decks.
I have been playing since Vanilla and have bought a pre-order pack or the adventure every single time but for the first time ever I am not pre-ordering.
The main reason has been due to the monetization issues that were presented a few months ago with the battle pass, and I said to myself that I would no longer pump money into the game. (Even if I bought it at the time) While they have improve things generally since the outcry I feel like I should still stick to my guns and not cave this time around even if I want too, I can also see how the other side live although given enough dusting I'm sure I can get through the expansion easily enough.
We'll see if I stick to my guns for the next expansion ^^
i get some Rastakhan's Rumble vibes with this one. ?
I thought i was the only one
I keep getting witchwood vibes, something is off about this set that doesn’t make sense yet. It feels like they are going to announce something like Genn/Baku or a card that needs nerfing so bad that there is no choice but to remove it from standard in a year.
I am the same boat, I am a player since beta and since the battle pass scandal I am not spending real money in pre-orders or skins. I will get as many packs as time I get for playing arena, a slow but rewarding way of getting packs at a reduced price.
This is how I feel too. I know they are making something I enjoy, and I generally feel that should deserve my money, but over a long enough period of time it really feels like an absurd amount of money to stay relevant in this game. Maybe I’d buy again in the future if the price to preorder was lower, even if it came with less packs.
and I think they’re well aware of this, I think that’s why they had those randomized bundles we saw back in January and why they made the miniset gold purchasable. Maybe the numbers will tell them to make these cheaper.
Of course don’t buy it. Did you even stop and evaluate what you are “buying” and questioned if it is worth the price they put on it?
I realize I'm not the OP, but I can answer for myself. It's definitely worth it, IMHO. The time/money "quotient" is high for me. I play the game (almost) everyday and have been since December of 2014 when I started. I spend my free money between HS and Magic: Arena.
The answer for everyone is different depending on their enjoyment of the game and their current financial situation.
You don't think it's worth it and I do. I guess we can agree to disagree. : p

You're both correct in getting these vibes, but for the wrong reasons. RR had an extremely low power level in a meta of Overpowered cards and an extremely high power level. DKs, board floods, shudderwok, strong control and heal/armor options.
Barrens is starting to feel like it's a low power level, but the difference now is that 1) we're at rotation and 2) they're rotating out A LOT of the face damage and other staple "Too good" stuff from the core set that usually breaks the meta when given too much support (Archmage, Pyroblast, Evis, Edwin, Sorc app, Bloodlust, savage roar, kill command, etc).
From the looks of things, they're REALLY trying to tone down the power level of things, especially with Darkmoon seeing how it barely effected the meta at all.
The cards seem pretty boring to me up until now, and the power level also seems pretty low. I haven't bought anything hearthstone related in a long while because I find the prices absurdly high. It might seem worth it right now, but at any point in time you wil eventually get bored of this game and drop it. For 40$ I can go in the playstation store and buy any game AAA game I want, instead of gettin like 3 worthless cards.
Wait for all cards to come out...usually the first expansion of new year is the weakest... And the last expansion of year is strongest... Rastakhan was an exception... Be careful crafting.
As I wild player, I wouldn't buy it. Too underwhelming and the few cards that actually matter are easily craftable.
If I were playing Standard I'd probably buy it, because it's the first expansion of the year, which is going to stay longer in Standard, however the powerlevel of the cards is meh. If you'd like to grind to legend, you won't get any extra value from the expansion cards (SO FAR 18/3). There isn't something that I could say is a "highlight". Basically, the cards are improvements to classes in general. Like the raw draw power of Hunter, or the cheap aoe of Priest. Nothing special though. Like something that would lead to a build that could possibly become a Tier 1 ladder climber.
Therefore, I'd say no, but with precautions, especially since there are still cards to be revealed.

Hearthstone is one of the few types of enterteinment that i consume, so i bought the big pre-order, i think its worth for my fun.

Wait for the full set to be revealed before you make a decision. There's no point preordering now if all the strong decks are the ones from last set.
