So, I have been digging in HS local files in my PC and discovered a file with text strings that are shown in-game. There is a whole section dedicated to Battlegrounds and I could read a full list of races that may be appearing in future expansions. At least, they are included in the current HS version, so perhaps it's a framework to add them to the game in due time (see attach)
Devs told time and time again: there'll be no new creature types. They were actually experimenting with the new type for Barrens, but were unable to tie it with unifed mechanic and figure out visual coherence.
These are in the game files since like beta, doesn't mean any new tribes are going to be added to the game, especially constructed.
This is true. The "races" category in the card descriptions has featured Humans, Forsaken, Blood Elf etc, in addition to actual tribes like Mechanical and Pirate etc. since the beginning of the game's existence. Tribes have been added, but the Human etc. were never used.
In our own database too when you enter cards you still have the option to set a tribe to "human" etc. Just remnants that will likely never go away.
Something could still be done with the tribes going forward of course, but this is not evidence of it. :)

Really? How so?
Because the normal way to filter by race only gives the ones we have, including "all", and Orc, bringing up nobody but (when removing the 'collectible? yes' query) Nadia, Mankrik's Wife. On a related note, I thought Mankrik's wife was called Olgra. What's up with that?
I kinda think there's an oversaturation of tribes in Standard. I can't even imagine what murlocs and dragons are even being added. Pirates, Mechs and Elementals are a little easier. (Though mechs I just imagine like... ratchet-y goblin stuff and maybe horde catapults)
Where they're probably much better designed in Battlegrounds, and we're more likely to see them added more often.
What I'd like to maybe see is a "Faction" tag. (i.e. Horde, Alliance, Scourge, Night Elves, Forsaken, whatever) Where it's less that there's strong synergies between the cards in question, and more that you can't mix factions. OR you could make it sort of like a highlander effect. Where there's like a powerful Horde champion card for example, but it only get it's beneficial effect if your deck contains cards from no other faction besides Horde and non-faction cards.
i.e.
The Lich King, Arthas 8/8 Taunt Generate a Death Knight card at the end of each turn. If your deck contains only Scourge faction cards, generate two.
Or you could make it a keyword like "Scourge champion".

Huh??? They officially announced the quilboar battlegrounds tribe at blizzconline. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what you mean by minion type

What do you think about?
This would be surprising, since only Quilboar are being added in the first expansion of the year. I think you made it up.
The Nerubians and Huarguen Migth be some hints about future sets

Frostmourne hungers.

This sounds like "factions", almost.
