The Barrens is really nothing more than a meme zone. Famous for it's chat, and "Le where is Mankirk's wife? xD".
There are so many more interesting locales. How about Ulduar? The Sunwell? Ahn'qiraj? Zul'aman? Throne of Thunder? Highmaul? Emerald Nightmare? The Eternal Palace? Argus?
We still haven't had a Burning Legion/Titan expansion, for instance.
I've been wanting a burning legion with eredar theme like archimonde and kiljaden for a long time now but I am thinking it will be next year cuz this year is shaping to be horde vs alliance.. barrens and the last 2 themes feels like lordaeron and alterac ....
just like old times .. horde vs alliance and then the legion rains on them and they unite which will be 2022...though this is a missed opportunity cus they announced burning crusade classic which could've been nice to also have a burning legion expansion at the same time regardless i am not that disappointed really , don't forget ashes of outland was last year which is basically burning crusade but without the legion twist we got instead rusted legion which is meh really but yeah.

Hopefully. Rusted Legion feels like something fun, but I think they are gonna have the proper Legion as well, since the Rusted doesn't have Kil'jaeden, Archimonde etc.
I disagree. The Barrens is iconic, and has a quintessential "Horde" vibe. Anyone who has ever played WoW, Horse or Alliance, probably has at least a few fond memories of this place.
I'm looking forward to the expansion and the shenanigans it will bring. I've been trying out Regis's OTK with Vol'jin this morning, to mixed results. It's gonna be a fun expansion.
Yeah, I was a little disappointed, because I usually prefer the whimsical expansions. Expect for grinding to lvl 15 to get Lady Liadrin, I've never played WoW, so I could be wrong about this, but it seems to me that they're setting up for a "Horde vs Alliance" thing, where the first expansion will be Horde-centric, the next will focus on the Alliance, and the last will be the clash. It seems to fit with the expansion roadmap.
I don't have any strong "Horde vs Alliance" feelings, so the theme is not really for me, but I know that a lot of people have been calling for more lore-based expansions, and I think this caters to them.
I 100% agree with this sentiment. A quillboar expansion (what I was expecting from the teaser) supplemented with a barrens background would be so much more flavorful and in-line with Hearthstone. I mean, what's next? Swamp of Sorrow, Feralas, Eastern Plaguelands followed by Western Plaguelands? Are we just throwing a dart at the Azeroth map for expansions? A zone helps add flavor to an expansion, but cannot carry it on it's own. Gadgetzan/Tanaris was tied to a gangster theme. Un'goro focused heavily on themes of dinos, elementals, and adaptatation. Without any additional themes the new expansion just feels generic and boring. Also, the new keyword is just as boring as the expansion theme. It's essentially Enrage but with a new coat of paint. The teaser had gotten me so hyped but what we got has been what I see as the biggest Hearthstone let down since I started playing in WotOG. The lack of a trailer song was the icing on the shitty cake.
Barrens chat aside, the Barrens was a massive zone (especially if they're including Mulgore) with so much going on. 3 Dungeons, a neutral town, so many different types of mob and races. There's a lot of inspiration to be had from the Barrens.
While not expected, the Barrens is the first zone as Horde in WoW and while not very spectacular its for sure nostalgic and for many an introduction into Warcraft Universe:)
Thinking about it almost makes me reactivate my account after 5 years lol
I like the Barrens aesthetic and the nostalgia it entails. But more importantly I think it might be a good time to mention an idea I've had for a long time, factions. Factions would be like minion tribes but broader, many if not most minions belong to the Horde or Alliance and many of the rest belong to the Scourge or the Burning Legion which could also be a thing. So while the Factions would be like large overtribes (indeed you could have an Alliance Murloc) the bonuses from stacking Faction cards and buffing them would be less than the regular tribes. Nice bonus but not critical. Though arguably very flavourful. That is how I imagine it anyway.
The Barrens is sweet because it's giant, it's got so much diversity in its locales with Oasis's, thick overgrowths, rivers, savannahs, the coastline. There's plenty of room for the team to work with. We just had an entire expansion take place within the creative confines of "Evil Carnival", I think they'll do fine with the entire Barrens, given Hearthstone rarely stays 100% with the source material. They'll probably add Hearthstony stuff, I don't think we have anything to worry about.
And we've had expansions before that were just about one place/thing. There was The Grand Tournament (which DID suck though lol), Mean Streets of Gadgetzan was *literally* just a Hearthstone-ified Gadgetzan. Un'Goro was pretty loyal to Un'Goro which is a pretty small area and that expansion ROCKED. The Witchwood is just the woods around Gilneas and that was pretty cool. Saviors of Uldum was just Uldum with the plot stemming from Rise of Shadows, which took place completely in Dalaraan.
Expansions taking place in a single region isn't something new to Hearthstone, and it's hardly a bad thing. I'm a Horde fan, I didn't play much WoW but when I did I was Horde, and I remember the Barrens. I HATED Outland but Ashes of Outland was pretty sweet.

Leave the name aside, i don't like the new cards at all.

I think they will print cards that brings more flashback moments because it's 30 years Blizzard, it makes sense they go back to origins
classic mode, a barrens expansion, and next one after miniset will probably be stormwind, the hints are kinda obvious

I don't really care about the expansion themes. I like good card arts and interesting card effects.
I love it. Especially since I was playing classic recently and leveled like 10 toons through the barrens lol. It's fun.

Alliance player's are just salty AF.
most likely they're getting their expansion in the summer :)
For the horde and their wives...

Looking forward to this expansion a fair bit.

please don't bully my son
For me its not chill enough, gimme a farmers market in the Valley of 4 Winds expansion
Being disappointed in this game regardless of whatever your point is will always be welcomed by this great community! Pile on!!
All this horde stuff makes me remember my days on warcraft 3. I think this is great
