Remove his demon tag, average his stats for the cost, and make his corrupt effect just his base effect so Y'shaarj can't copy him. Having just one of these is more than enough for the combo/control matchup, he's problematic because of how many of these you can get a game, and then you still have to deal with an over-statted minion multiple times. I mean I play a wild mill rogue and I'm even in awe at the raw mill power of this card.
These are my thoughts exactly. I think he's fine as a card, and actually pretty cool and unique, but the fact that he can be copied multiple times is the problem.
It's good because it allows serious deckbuilding to take place. Instead of greedy, nonsense, fun, "control" decks with 4 old gods and a curve heavier than earth's weight, we'll get to see actual decks, that actually have potential of winning.
But, since Hearthstone is a game where whiners get what they want, eventually Tickatus will be nerfed. So just cry some more and you'll get your nerf.
UwU I can't pway my N'zoth, Y'Shaarj, C'Thun, Yogg contwol Pawadin wha wha
I feel disgusted sometimes with the players sometimes.
So, yes - I think Tickatus is frustrating to play against - but he is a pretty heavy hit-or-miss card and has some huge downsides that keep him in check.
Yep. This is my opinion as well.
Clearly this card has been very polarizing, but I feel like most of people's complaints are not about design of the card and the effect on the meta, but more like, "I don't like this effect on my deck, and it happened like once, so it's ruining the entire game."
Out of like 10 games, I might see one warlock, and it may or may not even have Tickatus. So what's the big deal?
I'm sure we'll find out (again) before this thread gets closed. :)
dude, I see Tickatus Warlock 35% of my games. So just cuz u dont see them doesnt mean the other millions of players dont as well!!
The thing is this cards blocks the meta from becoming more control. Tickatus forces people to play aggro because it is just game breaking against control decks. If the meta pushes to a more control based meta Tickatus Warlock wil become the instant tier S deck out there.

And Mozaki Mage or OTK Demon Hunter aren't? What's the difference between TickLock and them?
It's baffling how players complain about multiple tickatus being played again and again. If your opponent plays felosophy, finds time to play 2 or more tickatus without being punished, you deserve it. In a card game, bad matchups are a thing. Just like some decks instalose to tickatus, so does tickatus instalose a lot of matchups, like otk decks.
The card's fine at the moment, but I think it'll create serious problems in the next year. As people have said, there's too many ways to duplicate it it in the meta atm that aren't rotating in a month or so. I think tickatus and likely Envoy Rustwix will need to see a nerf in the next year. I got a feeling like Tar Creeper is going to return, which will encourage control decks which both of them will have a massive advantage over.
Anyways, my solution for Tickatus is to change the effect. Normal effect is during your oponent's turn, they discover 2 sets of 3 cards in your deck and discard 2. The corrupt effect will change that you immediately discover 2 sets of 3 cards in your opponent's deck to discard 2 of.
This makes it so only 2 cards get discarded per play, but a little more focused. Both a nerf and a buff.

Tickatus would have to be relevant for this to be true. There're a bunch of decks which either have overwhelming value and big tempo plays (like Pure Paladin, whirlkick rogue or Ramp Paladin) or just have super reliable tempo and can repeatedly hit you in the face. (Pretty much any rogue, hunter or token druid deck)
They're not imbalanced necessarily, but they're notably better than most of the priest & warlock decks out there.
Personally the biggest trouble I'm having right now is just finding a deck that has a reasonable match up against most of what I run into. But I'm... not really having a problem with Tickatus lock.
unfucking beliveable that some people think this card should be excist in the current form
i don’t get it, warlock players i guess
I took Illucia Priest from bronze to top 100 legend this month, do I get to have an opinion?
No? Oh good, because it's not an opinion . . . if Tickatus isn't oppressing Illucia Priest, it's not oppressing anything.
For the record, no, I don't mean rez priest with an Illucia in it. I mean a deck with Illucia, C'thun, and Galakrond as the only win conditions.
There has never been a deck more controllish in the relevant meta. Not Dead Man's Hand Warrior. Not Freeze or Big Spell Mage. Nothing.

It is the win condition on a tier 3 (some even say tier 4) deck. If you think the card is a problem you really need to understand that some terrible decks often have very good winrates against high tier decks, and this is no reason to get your panties in a twist for. Sure your greedy control deck might struggle against this deck, but they lose to most of the other decks out there, they only play those decks to counter your kind of deck, and this is good, because it helps keeping control in check.
If you play a 3-card deck in a game based on 30-card decks, you must be prepared to hit the conceed button if you lose one of your 3 cards.
Tickatus is too slow to corrupt anyway.
Most of the time he is just a 6 mana 8/8, which is decent stats, but you aren't going to be playing that on curve.
Speaking as a combo player - getting Tick'd sucks. But that's the game. So does libram paladin, just you get shafted at the other end of the game. Or getting hit by Illucia. These things happen; I've survived more Tickatuses than I've lost to, playing DH OTK when I'm in STD. It's like playing MTG and going 'I'm playing oops, so I'm dead to force, but I crush pretty much anything else', or 'I'm playing D&T, so I lose to Oops/belcher, but have a good MU against the slower combos'. Bad MUs happen; some games are unwinnable. Either you make up the percentages elsewhere, you change deck, or you accept that you're not going to rank up and play a fun deck.
Obviously, in Wild, it's far too slow.
Tick fills a similar niche to combo in HS - it punishes greedy control, reigning that in. Is it too much? Eh, maybe. I don't think so, but then I rarely see it.
Why are people not complaining about the uninteractive combo decks that kill you with no set ups like Mozaki Mage or OTK Demon Hunter?
These decks are pretty toxic and people are targeting on Tickatus which gives players a chance to win against these decks.
He is a pretty frustrating card to play against and believe me I have had rage when he burns my win condition, but still I don't think he should be like removed and let every greedy combo and control deck just win.

Well, OTK Demon Hunter is arguably the best deck in the format if you know what you're doing, but 1) that's a huge IF, and 2) it is still vulnerable to Illucia and any remotely strong amount of attacking. Should be noted that OTK Demon Hunter was interestingly affected by Ramp Paladin's popularity. DH can't beat Alura into Tip The Scales most of the time, but if the Ramp Pally is dumb enough to play Noz, the race is on and more often than not, OTK will win.
Mozaki is terrible. It's less of an issue than Tickatus itself, and that's saying something.

Thats weird, if Mozaki is so terrible why is it a tier 2 deck with Tickatus? https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/ So I think you made more of a guess than an actual fact. I think Mozaki mage can be pretty mental to play against as well when they get going.
I think Tickatus is a pretty mental card and it is horrible to play against, but I don't think it is the biggest issue at this current time.
Like Ramp Paladin, Weapon rogue, Interactive Combo decks are all much higher on the issue list and should be looked at before destory tickatus.
It's not only about the winrate and effectiveness of the card. Tickatus burning half your deck is probably one of the worst experiences a player can have. It's just not fun for the player on the receiving end, and the card just reinforces the rock paper scissors gameplay in standard right now. It should only be able to discard 5 cards in a match.

Rin, the First Disciple is a better designed card IMO.
