Tickatus has grown to be one of my favorite cards because I love being mean but I could see him getting hit at some point. I dont think it’s his effect or stats that are the core problem though, I’ve been hit by tickatus 3 times in a game by my opponent and still won so, I mean, no it’s not his effect imo. I get being salty those few times he burns one of your combo pieces, but hey, that’s sort of what his effect is trying to accomplish. It’s really a tech card against super grindy control decks or combo decks which I think is great design. The one suggestion I would offer though is removing the demon tag from him so he cant bet copied by felosophy, cant get discovered off of studies, and you won’t rez an 8/8 with the warlock prime or DK. The second copy off of yshaarj is fine imo because it comes super super late in the game and it justifies playing yshaarj (10 mana) for a big stat dump. Demon tribe tag is the only problem I could see with this card.
blud, this waste card is bare overpowered...it should cost 8 mana and only remove 3 cards. peace out.
As far as I'm concerned they should simply lower the number of cards. That's it.
Increasing its mana cost would just make it unplayable. What 9+ mana card would you ever put in a warlock deck???
That would also make him unplayable. Some decks can withstand burning even up to 10 cards and still win the game against Warlock. Burning 3 cards wouldn't even be worth the effort.
Deck Destruction, while mostly useless in most games, is a pretty toxic and unfun mechanic for a lot of folks, and should be really rare. I think Gnomeferatu and Rin/Azari are acceptable, because they're either significantly weaker, or significantly slower. Tickatus is too much deck destruction, too fast and too easy.
It's not about Tickatus being OP (the decks that use Tick aren't that good), but more about him being too easy of a hard-counter to certain deck types. I think the game would be better if Warlock had a different tool to extend their staying power in control matchups.
The problem is the following: as it is, Ticketus is unplayable against aggro, game-ending against combo and ultra-powerful against control. That's nonsense to me. There are loads of ways to tone down a bit the card and still make it perfectly playable.
The indication of how powerful the card is lies in the simple fact that each and every warlock deck out there includes it, no matter the archetype.

I think it's because you can see what is destroyed and no longer available to you that makes people angry. If you were to imagine those five cards as being at the bottom of your deck which you never reach, then it's the same effect. (That's obviously only true for non-fatigue games and there is an argument to be made for tutors being useless as well, but that's an edge case.)
Tickatus warlock is so prevlant lately its become a real problem. I play control style, and resent that fact that Tickatus just wins all the time. its so easy to play Tickatus control its a joke. So much removal, healing, and the bam! 10 cards gone just like that! Unfair and not a skill at all. Just play the card and win vs other control decks.
Latley I have been puttting in Archi9vist to counter how often I see Tickatus as a control player. But now they have infinte Primes as well! So not only do u have to deal with losing 5-15 cards a game, you also have to deal with infinite Primes! I love that type of problem, but the 5-15 cards gone makes it impossible to beat, as a control deck.
I dont and wont play aggro, cuz I find 3 minute games boring and lame. Almost no thought goes into spamming the board and hitting the button. I thrive in a long game, where resources matter, and where I need to plan ahead 10 turns etc....with my decisions. Tickatus just ruins that plan so easily.
I would like to see it only allowed once a game. Any more ruins the competition and makes it not a game anymore. Just a "play this card and win"scenario.
If I’m playing anything but aggro... then Warlock is an auto-concede simply because this card is in every Warlock deck I face. It feels like if one card forces a class to only play one deck recipe in an effort to win, then I don’t think it’s a good thing for the overall game. I’m not saying it has to be gone... but probably a reasonable nerf would be good. It’s a corruptible 6 mana 8/8 demon... c’mon maaaan!
The reason I don't like the card is probably more down to the free second copy. I think the effect is cool, the stats are fine but I do think it's a little too easy to corrupt and feels more like an 8 mana card but I get that comes with the added difficulty of corrupting it.
Tickatus being played is a decent disruptor and brings the warlock closer to you in terms of fatigue because they tap through a decent amount over the course of the game. All fine.
The really horrible part of that deck is Y'Shaarj coming down followed by a 0 mana Tickatus and if necessary, a couple of 0 mana strongmen and a couple of board clears to boot. It feels really cheap.
If you want to combat aggro, you go control and control have struggled for a good while now, so when cards released which allow you to sort of combat the aggro and you then get punished by 0 mana freebies it just doesn't feel good.
Not saying it has to be nerfed but it's very polarising and as someone who doesn't enjoy aggro, I typically play with decks that look to last longer than turn 6. I don't personally find that he's a real late game card either, the first one comes down between turns 9 and 15 a decent amount of time.
Just compare this BS, unbalanced, broken out of the charts, completely and insanely undercosted abomination with a much more fair and well designed card and you get all answer for your questions about it:
What does that matter? We get it man, youre a warlock fanboy and Don't want to admit your favorite card is toxic.
Favourite? Far from it. To be honest... I hate this type of cards! If I had a choice, I would give Tickatus up in exchange for any viable Control Warlock deck. Thing is though, that this game is full of broken BS at this point and Tickatus is not even in top 20 on that list... Mana cheating, RNG, card generation, infinite value, hyper aggro, OTK etc.
Is Tickatus bad for the game? In my opinion yes, he is, but so are things mentioned above and if they can be part of HS, Tickatus can be too, it's simple as that.
The most simple reason why Tickatus needs to go is it makes an entire old god useless and that should never be the case. Old gods are the main thing about the expansion and blizzard wanted them to all work. So even from blizzards stand point the card def needs to go cause Tickatus sabotages their own card desgine. Also every idiot can get rank 1 legend by milling someones deck instead of actually having to play against that deck. Thats why milling was always the same as charge. You completely ignore what your opponent does what leads to non interactive games where people ignore each others strategy instead of having to use their brain to beat it. The only way you even have a chance against Tickatus is to hard tech against it what would be foolish cause every matchup that is not warlock would make these cards useless. I played tickatus warlock for a while now and i pretty much never lost against control in like a 100 games. The only thing you lose to is aggro for obv reasons.

Good for the game because combo is bad for a game with so few ways to counter it.
Same bro

I've beaten tickatus with control priest list though

Oh ok. So having combo countered by one class only is good for the game, right?
Bad.

Someone copied him and played four copies against me. Yes, I think he is a problem. Lower the number of cards he destroys.
