Change the battlecry to have (once per game) added to it. So after its first use, no matter how many times you drop it afterwards, it is "just" an 8/8 body.
Another option is for the uncorrupted version to discard 3 cards from your deck and 2 cards from your opponents deck, then the corrupted version flips this to discard 2 cards from your deck and 3 cards from your opponents deck. There definitely needs to be a downside to playing this low cost high stat minion with such a game changing battlecry.
So, yes - I think Tickatus is frustrating to play against - but he is a pretty heavy hit-or-miss card and has some huge downsides that keep him in check.
Yep. This is my opinion as well.
Clearly this card has been very polarizing, but I feel like most of people's complaints are not about design of the card and the effect on the meta, but more like, "I don't like this effect on my deck, and it happened like once, so it's ruining the entire game."
Out of like 10 games, I might see one warlock, and it may or may not even have Tickatus. So what's the big deal?
I'm sure we'll find out (again) before this thread gets closed. :)
Every Warlock I play against that isn’t Aggro runs Tickatus and they constantly mill at least 20 cards from my deck. I even run C’thun and use double battlecry with Portal Keeper and they still used Tickatus to burn away my whole deck. They played him 4 times in a row. This card is wayyy unbalanced.

I mean, if your opponent has time to play tickatus 4 times before you draw 10-15 cards, they probably could've won the game in any other number of ways. They'd either have to be crazy lucky or you'd have to be doing nothing the whole game for that to happen. I think tickatus will be a problem down the road in any sort of slower or lower-power format, but as of now the card's nothing special.

No, I constantly pressure the board because I KNOW I’m playing against Tickatus, but it doesn’t matter because they keep clearing my board with multiple cascading disasters or the other 100 board clears they have until they can activate Tickatus 4 times in a row. Tickatus is often discounted to 4 or lower Mana so it’s super simple to get his effect off twice before turn 10. Forget down the road, this card is a problem now.
I miss being able to play Control decks without worry. I mean Highlander Druid is fun and all, but it's one of if not the only slow deck that can beat Tickatus decks, but I just can't win against Rogue or Token Druid which feels bad. I don't want to play those decks just to beat Warlocks...I wanna play slow decks. :/ Tickatus has to be the most polarizing card to ever exist in HS.
The attachments say a thousand words as to why Tickatus should be nerfed. (Sorry for the bad pic) had C'thun and everything, behold the most greediest Warlock!
Go fucking kill yourself Tickatus players
Lmfao you let him play a fucking Sathrovarr and you're bitching? I haven't even seen Sathrovarr played since the first week it came out, you must be terrible

It is not "often discounted to 4 or lower", it almost never is.
In the first place, the most played Tickatus focused deck has 9700 plays. The second most has 3k. So it's not even a common deck.
Secondly, that 9700 play deck does NOT run even a SINGLE cost reduction.
In fact, none of the Tickatus focused decks with over 1000 plays run cost reduction. The only deck that does is a Quest variant with a 47% winrate:
So you're complaining about a play that only a single deck has, that makes up about 35% of decks containing Tickatus, and has a negative win/loss ratio.
If it was winning then it would be a problem, but Tickatus as a card has 50.1% winrate. It's not a problem at all
Here to once again drown my hate into this card, I have officially switched to playing either aggressive decks or Pure Paladin. I am sick and tired of seeing this card being played not once, not twice, not third....yeah you get the point. I don't care much if one of them is played, but it gets pretty fucking ridiculous how this turned into a troll card by how absurdly powerful it is against Control decks that lack pressure even the slightest. It truly and single-handed invalidated an entire archetype and some. Fucking mind boggling how this was the end result and got past the design phase.

You're a fucking ignorant little turd aren't you? to think anybody agrees with you is also a retard. Do you not see the kind of deck I was playing? of course my opponent had plenty of opportunities to play Sathrovarr. Nevermind that, the bad player here is the one who put Sathrovarr AND demonic studies in their deck to begin with. I guess they don't give a shit about aggro and out to laugh at Control players. I'm assuming that's the kind of player you are.
Ps, that board you see? other than 1 Tickatus that was played all in one turn.
It's going to get hit with the next balance patch, guaranteed. It's not healthy for the game, especially if you want to play a control deck that isn't warlock. Mark my words
Angry or not, it's awful and reprehensible to say things like that to people because you're mad about a card game. Please get some perspective and take a break if Hearthstone is making you that angry.
Tickatus threads are becoming really grating to me, honestly. Control decks having a win condition against other control decks is GOOD and NECESSARY for the game. The fact that we've gone for like 3 years with control decks only winning through attrition is not a good thing, and has lead to a weird sense of entitlement in control players, who expect that every game the play lasts for 40 minutes and drags to 10 fatigue AT LEAST (I'm projecting here, this obviously isn't true).
Decks having bad/polarizing matchups is also a normal and healthy thing for card games. Tickatus Warlock is good against Control decks. Control decks are bad against Tickatus Warlock. The Earth spins on its axis and plants photosynthesize to make oxygen. There's apparently now a deck, which is a control deck, and has a favorable matchup against Tickatus Warlock. You can choose to play that if you're desperately attached to playing Control Decks, or you can change pace entirely and play aggro (God forbid) to just bully greedy control/combo decks (which is something Tickatus was designed to do).
I understand the frustration of getting milled. It's a bad feeling, and it's the reason that Pot of Desires is such a polarizing subject in YuGiOh to this day. Magic players also hate being milled. Legends of Runeterra recently has had very grindy control decks pop up recently (with a win condition other than attrition, please take notes Hearthstone) and hey, it has a hard matchup against the one champion that can mill their deck from X to 4. Maybe Tick should have his stats toned down, but ultimately I think his effect is important for the game.
I have never played Tickatus before but have played against it several times. It is a nice design that encourages slower decks to be aggressive and kill the Warlock before they get the combo off. The only class it really hurts is priest since those control lists have no way to gain any board presence (apart from corrupt priest).
I'm a returning player after about a year and hit legend easily with highlander druid, faced a decent amount of Tickatus locks and I find it a really easy matchup. It's literally a matter of drawing your deck ASAP and then doubling up on your juicy stuff with Elise. They only have 2 twisting nethers and cascading disaster doesn't help against a board full of dragons. The same applies for other decks, highlander mage has enough ways to get early board presence and aggro decks don't care about their cards being removed.
If you have a problem with Tickatus you are simply incompetent, the current meta is really diverse and probably the best it's gonna be for a while since after rotation there will be less cards and less decks with only a few dominating. So stop complaining and enjoy it!
If instead, Warlock was given a suite of cards that did what Tickatus did, would that be an improvement? I think that it being a single card is what makes it far more safe than the alternative, honestly, I don't really understand what you mean by that.

Ahh yes, the obligatory "git gud" post. Which completely failed to mention the fact the warlock has clears and health gain for days, as well as not mentioning the lock gets to play everything again for free with Yshaarj. Such a dumb card. That's my main problem, its just a dumb card and feels shitty when your opponent burns several of your cards and can refill with primes lol. Looking forward to tge nerf.

I agree, posts like this are reductive and don't actually contribute to conversations. It's not right to make judgement calls about a person or their skills simply because they like/dislike a card.
In a vacuum Tickatus is fine, milling your opponent of five cards is a completely sound mechanic*, and having to first achieve a goal before doing that potentially makes it fair. Tickatus isn't in a vacuum though. Corrupting the card with Warlock is very easy and Y'Shaarj is the ultimate come back tool to recover any tempo you may have lost after dropping down a 6-mana 8/8. Plague of Flames and Cascading Disaster can be played on the same turn as Tick too meaning you can often clear up the same turn, even before Y'Shaarj.
Then we have modern aggro decks (Rogue, but previously DH before the nerfs) that have insane draw and burst meaning any control deck needs to have a lot of survivability tools. Then we have Combo drawing all of their pieces at an absurd rate. This combination means that control decks (and classic midrange decks too) are in a weird place as they not only have to be able to survive against hyper-fast aggro and burst combos, but they also need to be able to close out control mirrors as early as possible too.
*To add to this point, as I see a lot of comments about Tickatus' effect being unhealthy for the game and that is something I completely disagree with. ANY mechanic is fine as long as the circumstances around that mechanic are suitable, and although it always feels bad to lose it feels a lot better knowing that you could have actually won the game by playing differently, as opposed to just playing a direct counter. Classic Mill decks worked by drawing your opponent cards which has a clear downside, it's something that even decks with a poor matchup can use to an advantage by playing smart (this doesn't mean you will always win). It's hard to do that against the current Warlock decks because the only viable counter is applying pressure in an attempt to make it difficult for them to corrupt and play Tick. To do this you have to play a deck which can actually apply pressure, which is something a lot of control decks cannot do without becoming different decks entirely.
If Tickatus' effect was activated by your opponent's hand being full, for example, then that is something that any deck can theoretically play around, and something that the Warlock player (with the right support cards such as Coldlight Oracle if it was in the Core Set) would have to try and manipulate into their favour. It's just far more interesting that constantly playing board clears until you find a window to delete your opponents deck.
Yeah, control priest is cancer, they just clear the board, heal and generate infinite value.
While control warlock is completely different, they clear the board, heal and get infinite value from rustwix. So I'm glad Tickatus is here as "a counter to control priest" (a counter to any control deck in fact, it's not just control priest that gets fucked by it) so the ladder can be filled with control warlocks instead of control priests.
Playing against control warlock is infinitely more painful than against control priest. It's basically the same, but they also can burn 10 cards from your deck. Amazing.

It's a matter of it being unfun. Tickatus is so easy to activate, it can come out as soon as turn 8. Then they mill important cards, and the game is over so fast you felt you played against an aggro deck. Rin was fine, because you had to spend mana and tempo to mill your opponent, so it had that sense of bringing urgency while not feeling completely awful to play against, because it actually gave time to your opponent. With tickatus, it can come down so fast (and be duplicated) it's just random losses without any sense of you playing the game. And if your only answer is "you have to kill the warlock before turn 8" well sure, let's not play any control deck for that matter.
