Literally a thread of control priests whining because another class it out controlling them now. Priests how you feel vs tickatus is how I feel vs renew, mass rez, and every other broken rez synergy that rezzes the defender and infiltrator.
I play tickatus warlock on both standard and wild and it gets absolutely wrecked by aggro (dead long before tick is corrupted). Also my aggro pally destroys warlock in standard. This whole thread is just whiney priest players. This is an aggro meta and tickatus decks lose handily to rogue, pally, and any other quick deck.
I don't fully understand why such a lengthy and boring discussion is evolving around a card that has very little impact on the game as it is.
Just look at the HSReplay statistics: there aren't that many decks running Tickatus in the first place. It's mostly Galakrond and Control Warlock that run it and they are only slightly above 50% winrate anyway. Tickatus is an oddball card for sure, but apart from getting tilted from time to time when it works out for your opponent, it's just going to have an impact.
A deck being bad doesn’t mean the cards in the deck are bad. If Warlock get better tools to survive against aggro the deck will be in a better spot. As it is aggro is keeping the deck (and this card) in check.

What Tickatus and Zephrys for my part shows is that skill, strategy play little to no role in raking up. It is that disrespect for the most fundamental trait of human existence: to be skillfully succesful that makes hearthstone a vulgar game celebrated by the likewise.

Okay, I'm gonna try to break it down to people who don't understand why alot of people really hate this card. Please read carefully.
Now I'm gonna paint a picture for you. Imagine, you are playing a deck that wants to go the long game. It could be any slow deck, be it Animal Druid to Fatigue. Anything. Your opponent is largely not doing anything to impact the board, tapping and shuffling soul fragments in their deck. Nothing to worry about right? so you pressure them, you play (x) big minion, even better let's play 2! Oh, they get destroyed by Cascading Disaster. Oh well, let's try again!
Over the course of the match, that last part I mentioned about cascading disaster? let's just rinse and repeat that. Your attempts to pressure the Warlock is just easily thwarted by a plethora of hard removal. Once the Warlock has an opportunity to play Tickatus (and believe me there are plenty against a slow deck) it will either do one or two things.
1. Put you really close to fatigue, alot of the times quicker than even the Warlock
2. Burn your win conditions.
Or both.
At this point of the game, no matter what you have built up to, no matter what game plan you have is easily thwarted. Can you imagine, playing a deck like Recruit Warrior having all your minions burned, leaving your "recruit" cards useless? how would you feel if putting C'thun in your deck was pointless because they would just burn the pieces? how would you feel if even your Archivist Elysiana, the card you put in your fatigue deck for this matchup is just burned. (mind you, she's not a safe option to beat this matchup but it is SOMETHING) how would you feel if ALL of your Ysera dream cards were just burnt away. Hey Pure Paladins, good luck with this matchup! Cascading Disaster is your worst nightmare.
My point: Put yourself in our shoes. The feeling of facing a Warlock is like playing a different game, It's like playing against a hacker that just deletes your deck and destroys everything you have as if you don't get to play the game.
Do not get me started on those that bully slow decks by putting in Felosophy and Demonic Studies and as far as I have seen, putting in Sathrovarr
And here I am again, going to answer all the reasons people give for this card's existence to not be a problem.
Aggro can beat this matchup: .....no shit. I would wager it's what's causing such a polarizing meta right now, there is not that many control decks or even slow decks and if there are it's usually some form or another a Warlock deck with Tickatus.
Tickatus decks don't see much play because of aggro: Not true. Like I said above, why play any other control deck? also ranks where you don't lose stars is usually where you face against them, because people feel it's safe to play slow decks there so they get punished by TIckatus.
I have beaten Tickatus decks with slow decks before: Good for you. Alot of us don't have the luck or success you had.

How do I upvote a post multiple times? I feel like 1 is not enough
One more time, I am going to answer another thing that I have seen someone use as a rebuttal.
"Have you ever played Tickatus decks?"
You bet your ass I have. I have played Tickatus decks like an Ice-cream shop of flavours. There is SO many ways you can go about making a Tickatus deck, I would be here writing alot about the different shells. And that's also the other issue...you never know what kind of Warlock you are gonna face. Don't forget Zoo is around. I have had alot of success with Tickatus decks than any other slow deck. So long as my matchups aren't mostly aggro, I have about a 60% winrate. The deck can also beat aggro sometimes with alot of healing.
But guess what? I don't play them, I only tested them. Why? because I'm not scummy, that's why.
The "issue" isn't directly the card itself, just all the dumb value generation and duplication mechanics that's been trending on for some time now when blizzard are making cards. In a vacuum, tickatus itself is a perfectly fine card, its value impact is the same as something like a prime card or waxadred in terms of fatigue. Heck, it's even being dropped for envoy lately. When you have to play against more than one in a game though it's pretty backbreaking.
Looking forward to classic where cards materialising out of thin air doesn't exist.

but its not out controlling them, it taking all their cards away. thats not a competition at all. I am a control player for years now, and it sux playing against multiple Tickatus cuz all Warlock needs to do is remove remove remove, play Tickatus, repeat. I could control the board, be ahead in fatigue, and still lose cuz suddenly I have 10 less cards in my deck. It forces control players to play Tickatus, which is bad for the game. Excluding a whole genre of players isnt a good idea imo. Its not just about whining cuz we lose games, its about how polarizing the card is to other classes and archetypes......it should only be allowed twice a game. Not discovered from other cards etc.....I can deal with 2 Tickatus being played, becuz Archivist is still around. But what about after rotation in a month?
I think the effect on it's own is fine, but the ease with which you can play multiple copies is not.
Right now it's "if you can survive, burn 10 cards over the game easily, and 20 if you want to put in a bit more effort.
That should be more like "burn 6 cards easy and 12 if you want to put in a bit more effort".
They could make it a 5 mana 8/8 for all I care if it burned 2 fewer cards. The card as it is right now just feels like being hit in the face with a sledgehammer... multiple times.

I think it's funny when someone gives SO many reason, literally 3 posts in a row to answer to people like you why Tickatus is a problem, and then the only thing you can say is "I'm ignorant."
Tickatus is fine, 13 Mana to burn 5 cards and 23 to burn 10, all over the course of 3 turns, will be played only in control decks to fight combo decks and greedier control decks or in combo decks that aims to blow up your deck anyway. Meanwhile Rin, the First Disciple exists, is way more powerful, does not require setup, has taunt, has way more stats, actually deletes your deck and to balance it out, it costs 8 more mana. Was widely played during it's stay in standard and nobody complained to this extent.
So, yes - I think Tickatus is frustrating to play against - but he is a pretty heavy hit-or-miss card and has some huge downsides that keep him in check.
Yep. This is my opinion as well.
Clearly this card has been very polarizing, but I feel like most of people's complaints are not about design of the card and the effect on the meta, but more like, "I don't like this effect on my deck, and it happened like once, so it's ruining the entire game."
Out of like 10 games, I might see one warlock, and it may or may not even have Tickatus. So what's the big deal?
I'm sure we'll find out (again) before this thread gets closed. :)
I wish I can say that. The class I face against the most during this Standard season is Warlock and the majority would be able to lock down my early pressure and eventually drop Tickatus on me.
At this point, I am basically done with anything midrange/control and is either going to join them or play strictly aggro. I can't think of anything that isn't aggro that is consistent in beating that deck.
I would love to see Tickatus get nerfed by decreasing the cards milled if they have to keep the effect in game. Milling 5 AND getting a 8/8 is simply way too good of the deal especially when you can clone it and search for it.

I believe what you meant to say was:
”13 mana for 6 3/3s with Rush, a 5/5, an 8/8, 2 6/6s with taunt and burn 5 cards... or spend an extra 10 mana to gain all of that, a 10/10, another 8/8, 2 more 6/6s with taunt, destroy 6 enemy minions and burn 5 more cards.”

Rin?...way more powerful than Tickatus? Good lord, I’ve seen some hilariously bad takes on here, but this might be the coup de grace.
Honestly I'm fine with it. I'm well experienced with card games so deck destruction is nothing new for me since I've played both magic and yugioh. But for those whose hearthstone is their first I can see were the mechanic is a system shocker. But hand or deck manipulation isn't exactly ground breaking for me.
Costing 8 would make it a normal endgame card.costs 9 or 10 to corrupt it,brings some sacrifice into it.i find actual Tickatus a brain dead win vs any midrange/control deck and i cannot enjoy that.if i would like to play face hunter or stealth rogue,i would love the existence of tickatus.but im not.
The card basically ruins a Control Meta because of the many duplicate options available, is clearly polarising the entire Hearthstone population and has too few counters (e.g. Dirty Rat from back in the days). Would love to play Control Warrior, Shaman or Paladin but that's just not an option as long as Tickatus is around. Would love to see more people play C'thun but that's impossible because of Tickatus.
This doesn't have anything to do with winrates or design of the card itself, but it being an exclusive for Warlock and there being multiple ways to duplicate Tickatus which makes adding Elysiana as a counter not viable and there are not enough good counter cards to stand a chance against Tickatus for control players.
