Guys! Is secret mage a little bit op? Why not make nerf something (flakmage, little kabal s*hit or something). From dia 5 to dia 2 was 80% secret mage! Still not deserve a nerf, or i just a baby rage and everythink is fine?
I pretty much have a full collection at standard but I hate grinding so much that I no longer play ranked. I just complete the weeklies and that’s it... win or loss is as random as it can get, matchmaking sucks and ensures your win rates stay at 50%, rock papers scissors ensures there are always decks which will beat yours, combine this with matchmaking and there you have it

No one good at the game thinks like this. This mentality is a contributer to your win rate. The same goes for loads of other games as well, rather than accepting responsibility and getting better, players find it easier to blame the game and invent conspiracy theories about the development team rigging things.
This is not unique to Hearthstone, it isn't unique to Blizzard. The same gets aaod in fifa year after year, it's never the player's fault, always the game, always luck, rng etc.
It's way easier to blame the game or bad luck than accept you just aren't as good as you think you are.

Who said anything about who’s good and who isn’t... the rock papers scissors structure of the game is a fact. I just find it so boring playing against the same ten decks - win 1.5 game / lose 1 game again and again due to the matchmaking that I gave up because it’s so boring and pointless
After I hit legend the first time a long time ago, I realized that as long you are playing well and not caring about ranks the easier it is to hit it, the thrill to hit it is a burden that really hinders your ability to play and puts up a strain in long play sessions. I consistenly hit legend only playing daily missions.
It's almost always wrong to build up your goal as this huge thing, because it sends a subconscious message to your brain that it'll be difficult. Think of getting Legend as just "I want to win (x) games as a net positive", rather than "I want to get Legend". Better yet, focus on winning the next game, one game at a time.
Play something you're comfortable and confident with. What people say is "the best deck" might not suit your preferred playstyle. That being said, I'd suggest a list that runs two copies of Puzzle Box isn't necessarily what you want in this instance - yes, you can high-roll, but it takes agency away from you as a player and gives you a handy excuse for losing, should you get a bad box.
Embrace variance. Sometimes you'll have a crap draw. It happens. Other times you'll draw lethal when you need it. Our brains tend to remember negative experiences much more intensely than positive, so continuously remind yourself that your luck will even out over time, and focus on winning the games that you DO have control over.
just got legend for the first time, feels good man, playing from beta but didnt bother to grind, but somehow today got winning streak from 5 to legend maybe lost 5-10 games won all others with totem shaman deck from hearthpwn didnt use tracker. totem shaman ftw fast games if u get good start its over only problem pala
I know it's cliche but also use a deck you actually like. I don't actively try to hit legend, I get to diamond 5 and of I'm not playing decks I typically enjoy then I switch over. If it happens, it happens but the rewards are so minimal I just don't have the time or care enough to actively grind. If you enjoy the deck you're playing then it can just happen naturally. As soon as you start sweating about 'having' to win your next game, your normal game can easily go out the window and you make mistakes you wouldn't usually make.
Don't pressure yourself, if you don't hit legend, you're like what? A pack worse off? Don't sweat it.
Sometimes I'm enjoying a particularly casino type mage and won't see anything past about diamond 3 but I enjoy the deck so if I go back to 5 I just don't care.
I do really enjoy the pain zoo style though and used that to go from gold to legend with no sweat what so ever last month. Think I lost 4 games between d5 and legend but I didn't really notice because I wasn't pressuring myself to maintain any kind of win streak. It's much easier to play if you're calm and not over thinking ever decision because you've built it up in your head.
Also taking a break is a good idea, if you hit d1 then some time away isn't a bad thing. Playing when your mind is tired is another way of making silly mistakes or missplays and that's the case with anything competitive.
I use my homebrew deck, I don't like meta.
I think this is the best way to do it, but it's also the hardest. Deck building is a completely different skill set that many players don't even have. It was helpful for me to play some arena and use heartharena to help me track everything, it really helped my fundamentals.
I'm personally playing a deck that i have an 80% win rate with that beats combo, aggro and control decks. deck selection and building definitely makes a difference though skill is important too. I guarantee some players would be missing lethal left and right with this deck.

This is why this game will ultimately fail...

Just stop playing your own builds if you want to achieve legend. Either you have fun or you climb.

Also, use a tracker.

I find that if I get tilted, I take a break a few days, come back and it’s usually better
