This my 6th month in a row, whenever I take a glimpse in diamond 1, immediatly after I seem to rock bottom to 5 in a stroke of bad luck (I think). Then I finnish the month at 5 or maybe 4, but I never reach 1 again the same month.
I must be doing something wrong or play wrong. Anyone else in the same boat?
Or someone who tackled this? Maybe I should take a break after reaching 1 and then wait a few days? Does that even "reset" anything? Is MMR monthly? Or does any of your rating drop when you don't play for a few days?
Going to legend is a pure grind. Try to notice why you lose when you lose, if there are cards that are constantly not useful and can they be replaced. After that, tune your deck and stop making same mistakes. Grind. You are legend. Easy.

Most of this is true. Not sure why you wrote not rewarding to good players...
I think what you meant is RNG allows bad players to win more. A good player will already be doing the things you mentioned and won't have the aforementioned LS.
That said OP. Tilt will wreck you, mental walls will wreck you, RNG can wreck you. If you're experiencing any of these things, take a break, go outside come back when you're refreshed.

Thanks for the advice! But only the going outside part won't work, pretty harsh lockdown rules over here, the police will beat you back home :-)
I know it's cliche but also use a deck you actually like. I don't actively try to hit legend, I get to diamond 5 and of I'm not playing decks I typically enjoy then I switch over. If it happens, it happens but the rewards are so minimal I just don't have the time or care enough to actively grind. If you enjoy the deck you're playing then it can just happen naturally. As soon as you start sweating about 'having' to win your next game, your normal game can easily go out the window and you make mistakes you wouldn't usually make.
Don't pressure yourself, if you don't hit legend, you're like what? A pack worse off? Don't sweat it.
Sometimes I'm enjoying a particularly casino type mage and won't see anything past about diamond 3 but I enjoy the deck so if I go back to 5 I just don't care.
I do really enjoy the pain zoo style though and used that to go from gold to legend with no sweat what so ever last month. Think I lost 4 games between d5 and legend but I didn't really notice because I wasn't pressuring myself to maintain any kind of win streak. It's much easier to play if you're calm and not over thinking ever decision because you've built it up in your head.
Also taking a break is a good idea, if you hit d1 then some time away isn't a bad thing. Playing when your mind is tired is another way of making silly mistakes or missplays and that's the case with anything competitive.
I got legend when i understood that getting legend has no impact in my real life has no prestige. When i got legend the first time i felt a momentary happiness and that's it.
What i normally do is, i set small goals every time i play, for example reach a certain rank. After two losses in a row i stop and take a break..i try not to tilt and the most important thing for me is to be consistent i always play one deck to legend and i say my plays out loud (like reading)..
So, try and be consistent, play your favorite deck/class and when you stop having fun stop. And the internet is your friend buddy, google your favorite deck, watch streamers who play this deck and learn from them..
2 months ago i tried to reach legend with a HL Warlock. I really enjoyed the games. I never switched from bronze diamond. I was 4 times on D1 3 stars and didnt make it. The next month i made it with the same deck on the 6th day of the season:)
Now im tryin to get legend with an odd shaman deck. Its cool. I have been max. at D2 3 stars. Then i fell all the way back to 0 stars D5 :(
Im back again on D2 now...lets see where it takes me. As someone said...make yourself a goal and stick to it. Nowadays i only play ranked when i feel like it and enjoy it. Had a 7 game winstreak 2 days ago and havent tried to climb since. If i just want to play HS but i dont feel like seeing the same 4 decks over and over i just play another mode. Atm i enjoy duels .

I know it won't make any impact, I just want to achieve it. It is like finnishing a game and that is the end boss :-)
I have no idea if it's MMR matching, but usually whenever I manage to go from D5 to Legend it is often via really large streaks. E.G a 4 game lose streak followed by a 7 game win streak (same deck, being Pure Pally the last couple of seasons).
In fact I think I got the 12 game win streak achievement in my climb from D5 to legend last season, probably on the back of a large string of losses.
I don't know if this helps the conversation much, other than me saying that if you play one of the better decks, then you'll eventually get there, even if you find yourself hitting a wall along the way.
EDIT: I will also add that I don't really have much incentive for the grind to get past D5 to legend . The epic card rewarded for reaching D5 is far more valuable than the card pack rewarded for hitting Legend, in my opinion.
EDIT 2: Although I understand your desire TC if this is your first run to Legend. In that case, pick one of the 'best decks' from heartstone Top Decks (https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com) and just keep playing that one. Your win rate will pick up the more familiar you get with the deck.
The other advice I can give to help the climb, based on the first time I did it (back when you needed twice as many wins) is to focus on obtaining a single star a day. If you win your first game for the day, great, job done. If not, only focus on winning back your loss plus the one extra game to put you ahead of where you were. It breaks up the climb to a collection of easily manageable and focused climbs. That strategy helped a lot the first time I tried, and hopefully you have the same experience
I tried to reach legend with a homebrewed highlander mage deck, I was a single victory away from legend then I got demoted all the way back to Diamond 5, just like you said.I was facing nothing but my counters - bomb warriors, aggro dhs and weapon rogues - so I decided to change things. Sidenote, I was watching Firebat climbing high diamond and I tried to follow his pattern of when and how to swap decks.
I looked up the deck with the highest winrate at the time (it was pure paladin), crafted the cards I was missing and with only 2 losses I reached legend, in like an hour. I stricly followed the mulligan guide and since I already had a basic understanding of the class and deck I felt really comfortable playing it.
So if I were you I"d find a deck that doesnt do bad vs the top 5 decks AND you feel comfortable playing at the same time. And also reflect back on your games, be honest with yourself and see if you made any mistakes, if you didnt and you just got unlucky then dont switch decks, just swallow the loss and keep on playing.

I use my homebrew deck, I don't like meta.
Be helpful to include your deck in your OP then because it might not be a particularly good list. What are you actually looking for here then? I assume it isn't deck help so what advice are you hoping for? If you're consistently trying and failing then either you aren't good enough or your deck isn't (or a combination of both).

Btw this deck loves ramp paladin :-) It hates face hunter.
I will tell you something to chill out,on 23 each month only 12000 players hit legend, now at 16 on this month have no idea maybe only 1400 as i saw an hearthstone champion this morning standing at rank 1400,at 31 of each month only 22000 hit legend.
And something else if you are so early d5,your matches are against legend players, you will see this when you hit legend as you know you cant see before their rank with the new system.
I am from 3 february on d5 so still on 5,after 8h playtime the same day(next day same sh1t again) as i saw games are more normal, mean less RNG and more brain.
Last month went from d5 to legend flawless with secret mage, and hitting d1 and go back to 5 uncountable times.
A tip for you on d5 lose 2 days 1000 games next day you will be legend,i feel sorry to say this but thats the system right now.
And legend is just prestige nothing else and 1 more booster,so enjoy the game as it is for all.
I think the grind is (and will always be) still there to get to Legend. It always seems worst at the rank 5 -> L section, because you are no longer benefitting from the free extra stars that you get when at lower ranks. So it exponentially makes the climb appear to be (and probably is, technically) much less forgiving when you make an error.
This my 6th month in a row, whenever I take a glimpse in diamond 1, immediatly after I seem to rock bottom to 5 in a stroke of bad luck (I think). Then I finnish the month at 5 or maybe 4, but I never reach 1 again the same month.
