People forget that for two thirds of hearthstone's life, you haven't really needed anti combo/control tech because aggro alone is so good and reliable that it squeezes decks like this out the game, and we actually end up with anti-aggro control and combo decks in the meta, if any at all.
Personally I've always liked cards like dirty rat - Tickatus is ok to me.
Wow, imagine that. Another copy/paste thread on this subject.
Thanks for reminding me about Illucia though. It's so ridiculously obvious most of the time when Warlock makes the play that corrupts Tickatus, It's an entirely reasonable shot to take. Even assuming you only hit it 1 in 10, which is a ridiculously low estimate, that should be enough to shave off 5-7% off priest's worst matchup.
EDIT: EXAGGERATED? you mean, pure unadulterated fantasy?
P.s. I love how "slow" has somehow become a bug instead of a feature of control.
If you play Illucia it does not change anything, you play corrupted Tickatus and burn your deck anyway. It's useless.
WTF is this? You play Illucia, burn 5 cards from his deck, and lock Y'shaarj out of replaying Tickatus. What's being lost in translation here?
You're not too bright are you. If you play illucia and play a corrupted Tick, you're still burning cards from your OWN deck.
I apologize, got too caught up in the argument of process vs. the fact that opponent has my deck.
I see what was meant, though your choice of words was questionable to explain.
Also, by any objective measure we've come up with, I'm incredibly bright.
Yes, you would lose 5 cards off your deck when all is said and done, but you get the 8/8, and your opponent doesn't get the additional 5 cards or the additional 8/8.
Also, obviously the uncorrupted version would be most desirable. But, that is a complete random shot. My point was, you can usually tell when the corrupting card has been played, at which point you know when to play the Illucia.

Playing Illucia swaps your hand and decks. So if your opponent has an UNcorrupted Tickatus in hand, you can play it, and it will burn your own cards, which at this point, are your opponents cards.
Then next turn you swap back and your opponent is 5 cards down and no corrupt Tickatus to bring back with Y'shaarj.
But if you play the corrupted Tickatus, you do indeed burn your own deck.
OK, best case scenario, you play tickatus uncorrupted with illucia, burn 5 cards from their deck, get an 8/8 prevent yshaarj from bringing him back. Next turn though, he plays your Galakrond, mass resurrection or as many of your cost reduced cards as he can. Illucia is the best tech priest has for tickatus and it’s a terrible solution. Priest is never going to be a strong class while tickatus is unchecked, especially combined with the terrible support it’s been receiving.
It’s also pretty hilarious that the guy with the trump avatar has to remind us that he is very bright after making a fool of himself.

According to HS replay, priest will never be a strong class in standard unless all other classes seize to exist...
HSreplay is flawed by design, it assumes there isn’t a skill cap and all decks are piloted without making errors. There are far more pitfalls when playing priest compared to hunter, which is the top class on hsreplay, so skill and deck familiarity play heavily into priest as a class. HSreplay would have you think that the number one class would beat the number ten class, there is almost a 15 point spread in win rate, but hunter is one of the best matchups for priest. This goes same for other aggro decks, rogue gets trounced by priest. Tickatus however, absolutely destroys all priest decks right now. One card counters an entire class.
Also, don’t forget that HSreplay takes all games into account. What do you think the percentage of games recorded in HSreplay that have both players using deck trackers is?
All types of monitoring are flawed, including your gut feeling. I don't see many priests myself, but those I face get hammered by pretty much whatever I play. Even control warrior worked fine, unless they pulled a ton of luck with randomly generated cards. One should never have too much faith in HS replay, just take how bad galakrond warrior looks, despite being a decent pick for climbing ranks. I don't see a lot of tickatus either btw. Seems unlikely that it would have such a big impact on your priest climb really. I reached legend last month with galakron warrior, despite it losing almost every game to libram decks, which I believe are significantly more popular.

I’m not going by gut, my point is HSreplay is not only misleading, it is outright wrong sometimes. VS is a much better site and it still is off when it breaks it down to X class is better than y. I see tickatus warlock about 20% of matches, so not a lot, but enough. This is due to the first days after the races came out, warlock was a win farm for aggro rogue. If it weren’t for such a bad matchup with rogue, they would be everywhere.
As for priest climbing, I wouldn’t recommend it. I’m not trying it now because I know what priest needs to be good and it certainly doesn’t have it. The support cards all year have been poor for priest and quite frankly, Blizz has no idea what to do with them. The class that has terrible draw and weak early minions is getting a Rez spell for only early minions. The class that is meant for clearing large boards can’t aoe above 3 damage for less than 7 mana. The class with cheap corrupt cards gets a class legendary to lower corruption cost. Meanwhile, warlock gets a tribal aoe, a corruptible random hard removal and gets to share a Rez spell and hysteria. Blizz gave warlock the priest identity and now is flailing trying to define priest, and it’s not working.
Wow, imagine that. Another copy/paste thread on this subject.

Don’t backpedal. You got confused and forgot that the corrupted card would still burn your deck because illucia switches decks. You came in arrogant, you were rude with your follow up, someone pointed out you weren’t too bright for being rude, arrogant and wrong and you couldn’t swallow your pride and take it. You are digging your hole deeper, and your avatar of trump only adds to the irony of someone that can’t admit when they were wrong or feels challenged when someone calls them out on their shortcomings.
I like how you cut the quote in two to avoid showing where I humbly apologized for the misunderstanding.
How much more of a swallow pride moment do you want?
Nevertheless, it's clear as day that what I said was correct. Far better to play the corrupted version, have the 8/8, make the subsequent Y'shaarj play less powerful. Are you actually suggesting that's incorrect?
SO I repeat, where did I make a fool of myself?
EDIT: The apology was for not realizing the poorly worded post was trying to convey that it took 5 cards from your own deck. Not to suggest the original play being discussed was wrong. Because it isn't.
As I said in the post you went to great lengths not to quote, OBVIOUSLY the best case is to play the non-corrupted Tickatus with Illucia, but that is a complete random event. Being able to predict that he's drawn Tickatus by the corrupting card play IS the entire point of that conversation.
Also, I was rude in response to unprovoked insults. Not on a whim.

the game is just a very bad state. The new focus on Duels and BGs are attempts to save it as constructed has run out of options given the limited framework of the original design

Just to be sure, You base your words on VS then? At this point I think we're actually agreeing mostly. We both think that priest is a mess in standard and we both use a combination of personal experience and online statistics to create an idea of how good a class does. We both know that class/deck statistics have to be taken very lightly and are sometimes even misleading. We also (probably) agree that some kind of statistic is good for showing a point. Neither of us would say "Priest is great, but does bad statistically because people are stupid", but we both agree that ease of play and skill play a great role. Even if I liked priest, I wouldn't use it for climbing either, but my argument was that tickatus probably isn't played enough to really sabotage priest decks on its own. 1/5 is A LOT IMO, maybe tick is more popular in your rank. Around 4500 legend I only see it 1/20 at most (I think with a bias). I don't even recall seeing a tick in the last 50 games I had.
I guess my main points are; that I don't think that playing priest will give a good basis for evaluating weather tickatus is an OP or control killing card, since the class has problems in general. Also my impression from the data I can find online and collect from playing, state that tickatus decks aren't popular or strong enough to kill control in standard and that other control decks are more popular. I remember seeing a lot more tickatus' being played in top diamond and low legend, so maybe that makes me overly biased?
Why would I change my avatar when it continues to bring such salt?
In other news, we're now going with 20% of the ladder as warlock? Jesus, folks. Are we even trying anymore?
It's very difficult to take seriously a critique of a stat aggregation site when you start a post with something like that.
Regardless, if Vicious Syndicate is your cup of tea, their latest data report is reflecting 13% of the ladder across all ranks as warlock, and over a third of that is Zoo. So . . . no, not 20% Tickatus. Furthermore, as one progresses up the ranks, the percentage of Galakrond and Control Lock (both of which contains the dreaded card in question) drops considerably.

Subjectivity is fun.
You behave llike Trump, you 'talk' like Trump, you assume your own 'facts' like Trump and then you wonder why people think you're mindlessly arrogant.
You look at the stats of VS and conclude there's nothing wrong with Tickatus. It is not about the % representation in the meta that justifies its ability and stats. It is the facts that it takes away the ability to play a controle strategy with a broad spectrum of classes, that is the problem here. VS stats are just an reflection of an arbitrary respons of the meta to such an unbalanced card, not a justification that the card is ok.
But I wonder if you ever understand that. Looking at your Avatar and the way you present yourself, I am 100 % sure that you don't.
