I've started insta-conceding against them. It's completely pointless.
I mean, the warlock's corrupt package makes the odds impossible for any control/combo player out there. Its power level, compared to other classes' package is simply ridiculous. This is beyond stupid...
10 cards milled (at least, and only if they feel like they need to) plus 12 minions obliterated (no matter their size) for 18 mana.
Working as intended though. You only had to look at Tickatus prior to release, you knew it was the mother of all combo-killers, makes stuff like dirty rat from the past look useless. Combo decks have to be half-and-half now, and capable of playing a mid-rangey game.
Tickatus is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper for so insane effect and tons of stats and so easily to be played again for 0 manas later, the card should cost 9 manas, only be corrupted AFTER a 10 manas card being cast and need to lose the demon tag to completely deny any other sinergy in one already busted card.
You have only two options now, play a hiper aggro or tempo deck or warlock, anything else was kicked out of the existence but the completely OP BS card.
Yeah, when evolve shaman was everywhere, people just said, play control, tech in a stickyfinger...
If the meta is control warlock, play a bit more aggressive, maybe tech in an Archivist lady...
Just gotta do what is necessary to try and improve your win rate, however you can.
My first game of the mini set was against a warlock, I was trying out an aggro weapon rogue build, and it won me the game in 5 turns, they almost didn't play any cards because their hand was so greedy.
So if you like playing control, you may have to adjust your decklist a bit to be a bit faster and proactive to beat warlock.
What's left is a fundamental contempt for Hearthstone card developers as human beings. The values that make up their humanity are time and again fundamentally repulsive. If you print cards that are willfully and on purpose unbalanced just to maximize pack selling, history will judge them as lesser men.

Aggro weapon rogue might be the new deck to beat. Nitroboost poison on a stealth minion and self sharpening sword is insane. Especially if you do it twice... it absolutely flattens all the warlocks trying to use tickatus to farm control wins.
People complaining about tickatus warlock definetly haven't played the deck. it gets shit on by aggro.
The op has acknowledged this though by specifically saying control/combo. They are aware its countered by aggro but aggro is a style I assume they, like I and many others just simply don't enjoy.
I try not to moan about it because I get it. There are counters, there are times they don't draw it, it isn't a meta dominating deck etc etc. I just do really hate playing against, mainly because I like to play off meta decks and for the most part, they generally do OK against most things but a large amount of them aren't aggro, so they go to turn 10 and beyond and are just instantly punished by this. I'm not calling for a nerf for reasons above but for a large number of decks adn styles, it makes for an extremely unfun situation.
I've absolutely no issue with Tickatus burning 5 cards, I think that's a great tech is a worthwhile effect. The issue is the free Tickatus you also get from Y'Shaarj. Having 10 cards burned by turn 12 is just a rubbish feeling. It's basically the definition of a polarising deck. You're either aggressive enough to blast it down before it gets going or you're slow enough to lose a third of your deck.
It's not even about it punishing overly greedy decks. I've consistently hit fatigue against Tickatus when my opponent still has double figures left in their deck. I suppose the closest answer will be to tech in archivist and just accept a dead card in most matches.
If it typically punished decks that reached fatigue consistently, cool but it doesn't. It wrecks anything that wants to dare to try and draw around a half of their deck and that'd too much IMO.
Feels like it should be an 8 cost card. It still serves it purpose perfectly well but is a little slower and a little harder to currupt. It's just too easy to corrupt and regain for free.
I just don't think there are any stats that bear out the premise of the OP.
What are the viable control/combo decks? the controllier version of ETC or Silas Warrior, Big Priest, Bomb Warrior, and MAYBE Maly Druid from time to time. Oh, and OTK Demon Hunter.
Ok, is there anything suggesting ANY of those decks have a particularly oppressive loss rate to Tickatus lock? Nothing I can find in a quick search of HSReplay, VS, and Tempo Storm. So what are we talking about here?
OTK Demon Hunter draws itself long before Tickatus is usually an issue. The warrior decks can certainly be screwed over by the right mills, but they also routinely pull off a multi-Gore strategy and win regardless. Big Priest's matchup has nothing to do with Tickatus and everything to do with how much removal you can poor into the rezzing monsters. I'm not seeing an impossible win here.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Nerfing it to 8 mana wouldn't make sense since there are currently no viable 9+ drops for warlock out there to corrupt it. The solution is simple: nerf the effect to 3 cards! Still strong, still potentially deadly for combo and control but no more annihilating, just as useless against aggro. And limit cascading disaster to a single corrupt. Period.
Playing with weapon rogue and farming all this warlocks in games they never had the chance to play any greed card in their decks and they need so much of them to destroy control decks then run out of removal/survival tools pretty easily, play 6 games until now and is 6-0 to me, hopefully the ladder get so infested of aggro decks make them think twice before abuse the busted card, what is sad, one card alone forcing the entire meta to full aggro madness should don't exists.
I called it weeks ago. The fact that Tckatus can be played more than once a game, and discovered from spells, utterly destroys all Control decks. A good controlplayer can withstand 1 tickatus, but 2 or ,more is just silly. I personally only play slower decks, so Im very discouraged.

I don't think they deserve to be remembered by anyone. Trash is usually forgotten. ;)
Im playing a otk shaman deck where I win 50/50 it feels like but I am not sure since i don't keep stats, however I tech hard vs them with c'thun for Groundskeeper activation + 2nd otk and Portal Overfiend for removal and discard buffer... i really hate that deck mane but I only lose when i draw badly
I think they could nerf/buff Tikatus to burn 3 cards instead of 5, but otherwise the counter is just to speed up your deck. Reduce the greed of your control deck.
Combo gets screwed by Tikatus still, but honestly most combo decks are almost as degenerate as Tikatus is.

I just concede. No point in playing out a game where the goal is to completely kill your deck with a single card. Good job blizz

Ways to fix Tickatus:

...and what 9+ mana card would you ever play in warlock, exactly, outside yashaarj?

Use your imagination, bud. For an effect that will burn 1/3 of your opponent's deck, the qualifier should be hard to meet. 6 mana is bullshit.
Little is known how much influence Blizzard has on HS replay, Vicious Syndicate and Tempo Storm.
