I actually like the card. It's quite fun, but honestly? It's gonna make control and greedy, slow decks more or less unplayable for a year.
What were they thinking over at Blizzard? The problem isn't really Tickatus. It's the ways to copy it. Y'shaarj, felosophy etc. Losing 5 cards is okay. Losing 10, or even 15 cards, though, is not.
How could Blizzard fix this, without necessarily nerfing it? I'm thinking something along the lines of bringing Dirty Rat back from wild, and make it part of the standard set so that it's always available.

I also like the design of Tickatus, but i agree with this.
Also because decks in Hearthstone have only 30 cards. You have a similar effect in MtG, but in MtG you decks contains 60 cards and you have cards to shuffle back cards from your graveyard to your library. When they come up wih cards like Tickatus then they should also come up with cards to (re)fill your deck.
In Wild Mill Tickatus, when it happens is worse, but let me tell you that it's not that big of a deal. Tickatus decks are actually greedy decks, that punish other greedy decks. Nothing more. So your greedy N'Zoth, C'Thun, Y'Shaarj, deathrattle, "control" (but actually heavy midrange) bullsh*t deck isn't gonna make the cut, sadly.
It isn't about specific decks or match ups or metas, it's about the shadow the card casts over the deck building process as a whole. Imagine if they added a card like Skulking Geist that maybe destroyed all 1 cost cards back in how much the face rollers would complain about it.
Plus with the insane draw Warlocks just got finding your tickatus and Y'shaarj is going to be easier than ever.
its press and pray, rigth now every time i see warlock i hope it is zoo or pain, because if it is control i spect the usual curve, turn 6 corrupted Cascading Disaster ,turn 8 corrupted Tickatus , turn 10 both of them after yshaarj. my turn 10 or11, concede
This tbh. I play a lot of Standard Control Priest. As you probably know, you're not very likely to hit legend with that anytime soon, but Tickalock is not a bad match up. Even if Elysiana gets milled, you should still have necessary tools to counter the boards warlocks throw at you, especially considering they dedicate a lot to destroying your minions and drawing. In some cases, with how slow priest is compared to warlocks, you might still have equal cards in deck as warlock after he mills you.
Yeah I mean it’s an additional disadvantage to playing control right now when an abundance of efficient aggro decks already make it hard to commit. There’s really no compelling reason to run something grindy when you hardly get to turn 10, and when you do your deck gets decimated. There’s just no tech for it either as it’s guaranteed to trigger at least twice during a long game without any additional shenanigans. People will argue that Tickatus is not even a “tier one deck” but fact of the matter is other control archetypes are further down the ladder because of it.
Literally 1 in 6 chance of this, meaning 50/50 if they play Tick three times (they lose to every other matchup if their deck is capable of this) and only if you didn’t draw her already (you keep in your mulligan if for whatever reason this mediocre deck is popular).
Having a card which punishes a deck that is too greedy is a good thing.
If you're losing to Tickatus, you'd probably lose to any number of other faster, destructive plays. Burn decks, combo decks, even aggro. And if the opponent is copying Tikatus and playing him multiple times with a 10 drop then congrats, your deck was even greedier than a super greedy warlock deck.
I have the feeling that we already had this discussion several times before XD
I think that it's more important to have tech cards against tick and otherwise learn to appreciate that some decks can force us to use our resources differently when playing control decks. The Y'shaarj play has become a bit trivial by now thou.
I prefer use C'Thun instead, your deck have more cards to be mill and you have a chance to fight back when you get card from their decks, even if you don't get the key legendarys even other cards putting souls in your deck helps a lot.
The problem with Elysiana is being a dead card all the game vs anything else, C'Thun pieces is far more useful.

This is very wrong. You can't compare deck that destroy 10 of your card to fast deck. If I play slow deck I can have all my cards and play them when I need them (heal, taunt, remove). Against Tickatus deck, you can't because he burn your cards . As long Tickatus is in the game we will have aggro meta.
And then top it off with a play of Solarian Prime because you got it off the new warlock legendary from the mini set! Take that!
Maybe for the next couple months, control warlock will be the best deck, is that so bad? Next expansion something else will roll out and everyone will jump on that card saying it destroys everything they love about the game, too.

Ban control Warlock deck for your opponent in tournaments, use less greedy decks in ladder. Bingo!
What if control and greedy decks are my favourite styles to play and I dislike aggro and midrange?

Archivist Elysiana
you mean it burns your archivist? nice

The game needs more tech cards that disable battlecry, and more dirty rats

I've been putting Chef Nomi as a finisher specifically to beat decks like tickatus as control and it's been great.

As long Tickatus is in the game we will have aggro meta. Tickatus limit all control and combo decks because he destroy them.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!
The way to beat Tickatus is to burn the opponent's Tickatus with your own Tickatus!
And then top it off with a play of Solarian Prime because you got it off the new warlock legendary from the mini set! Take that!
